I stopped in a few weeks ago. I'm a brisket fan. They don't do brisket they do beef. I did a two meat meal of beef and ribs. Beef was darn good, ribs big and meaty and tasty. I tried a sauce and went nope. Best dry. Sides were ahh ok. If they were better maybe the fifth star. This place is not a sit down bbq joint. You can sit on cut tree seats and tables though. I eat here a lot, usually at the 206 location...this time I ate at the US 1 N location ...I usually get the turkey, which I LOVE but this time I got the brisket and was soooo disappointed!!! This place is not even close to good barbecue, the pork is in cubes not shredded, the chicken is very dry and the brisket is in slices, it does not even fall apart it is also very chewy. We went here on Mother's Day late afternoon, it was packed but the wait time to be served is great for the number of people that were there. Service was great, food is very good, not 5, but a high 4. We tried pork, brisket & ribs & sampled all their sauces. I agree with a previous comment that the brisket is not real brisket-- I think it's more like tri-tip. The meats were all high 4's, the variety of sauces make it more appetizing as you get different tastes each time. For the price, especially during inflation, they do serve generously. I had just eaten lunch so I just passed by but as I did I saw the sign 25$ racks on Thursdays !!! And imagine that it was Thursday. I had to get back to work so I called them and placed a an order for one rack of ribs. When I got off work I got there, the workers were so busy and happy to help my order was ready and smelled so good I couldn't wait to get home. This place has good reviews so I'm not sure what happened with our experience but it was nothing to rave about. Sunday afternoon - no brisket, no beef, no mashed potatoes. Well damn, are you open or not.... So pork or chicken.... That's it. They don't do smoked turkey, no ribs, no links. No Mac-n-cheese! No burnt ends. This place is doing the bare minimum to be a BBQ shack. We got a pulled pork sandwich and a pulled pork lunch plate. The difference is the sandwich comes with two pieces of dry cold toast. The lunch plate costs more with only one piece of dry cold toast. Should have paid attention to the menu prices, that's on me. The pork was ok. Not dry, but not supple. Big chunky pieces that were not that tender shredded pork you would expect of pulled pork. Lacked seasoning. All the flavor and moisture for the meal comes from the sauce you choose. They serve this on the side. We got Memphis and Texas. Sauce made the food palatable. I don't know what else to say. The small 3oz servings of sides were good. We had beans and Cole Slaw. Small portions but that was well seasoned, at least. I think it's too many negatives for me to give this place a second chance. Especially with how many other BBQ places there are in the area. Best Barbecue I ever had! Sitting around on a Saturday wondering what to have for a late lunch. I walked into Smokin' D's As soon as you walk through the door you can smell that it's going to be just incredible! And it was. If you've driven by this place without going in, you're definitely missing out. I was hungry while I was driving through, and found this place through Yelp. It's a small building that isn't particularly flashy, so I had to circle back a couple times to find the right parking lot. There is no eating space inside, but there's tree stumps on the grass that you can sit on. When you walk in, there's a small counter separating the door and the food prep area. Your order gets stuffed into a paper bag that may be a bit greasy, so that's definitely something to keep in mind if you eat in the car like I did. The brisket and pulled pork were delicious. Ribs were pretty good too. I like the baked beans, but was less of a fan of the cole slaw, which I found a bit dry and in need of a touch more seasoning. I wish I had gone on a Wednesday, when they make those juicy sandwiches. There's always next time! read more

Great BBQ pork - so tender and smoky. It is called sliced, but it is really large chunks of pork. I don't usually like sliced pork (preferring pulled), but this is good. They also have great BBQ beans and great BBQ sauces in different styles. The cole slaw is rather boring but good for putting on your sandwich. Prices are good, too. If you like meat, you'll like this place. If you like smoked meat, you'll love this place. My take, this place is excellent. Get the Alabama Chicken dinner and the Mixed Meat Platter. On the platter, get brisket and pork. They have three sides, you get three sides, so you get to have all of them, but I'd leave the rice, and get two orders of the baked beans. The cole slaw is very good. Total price was $21. I left them a couple of bucks in the bucket for the free sample of the beans (and the friendly service). Now, what about this place. First, the meat comes with no sauce and fortunately requires no sauce. The sauces are excellent, so plan to taste the meat first, then dip in the sauce of your choice. They give you the meat you order and a bunch of sauces (two 1/4 cup containers of each). The kid that takes the order is the owner's son. Oh yeah, then he serves you. This is no frills. There's a counter, the food prep area, the Iced Tea stand and a unisex restroom. The meats: Chicken Brisket Pork Turkey The sauces: Memphis Sweet - good, only a little sweet Texas Heat - not hot, spicy, that tastes like it has a little Jack (Daniels, that is) D's House - spicy, tangy, tasty, their best imho Carolina Vinegar - lived in Raleigh for 7 years, not Eastern NC style. They say it comes from the Piedmont. That's no-man's land in NC BBQ. It ain't western and it ain't eastern. Their sauce is a mix and not that great, again, imho. I was fortunate enough to get here mid afternoon and they still had ribs, chicken and chopped pork so I got a little of everything (I really wanted some turkey but oh well I should have arrived earlier). Looks like the hours are 11:00 am until the meat is gone. Ribs - Fresh off the pit smokey, perfect dry rub, tender and full of favor. I tried the sauce but I like mine naked. Chicken - Wow fall off the bone tender nice smoke and seasoned great if the turkey can top this I can't wait to come back. Chopped Pork - Yes chopped not shredded not sliced paper thin they only use real knives here, the bark and smoke was exceptional. This pork was chopped to about 1/2" cubes and was as tender as ham. I did get a few sides but decided to pass on them since the BBQ was so good. The iced tea was excellent oh I suggest bringing a few fold up chairs to set up under the tree if you plan to eat it here the alternative is finding a stump. Ordered the bbq picnic with chicken, pork and brisket and sides of baked beans, potato salad and coleslaw. Really enjoyed it all. The vinegar bbq sauce was excellent with it all. Visiting from Atlanta and wanted bbq, looked on yelp and found this place, also asked hotel staff who also recommended. Walked in, was greated, told them we were out of towners and needed suggestions on what to get. The owner(father) was nice as can be, he even gave us a sample of turkey. We got ribs, turkey and chicken with baked beans n rice. The food was great and so was the hospitality. We got there around 11:15 so we could take it to our room to eat later.
