Thursday is buy one get one free brisket platter so we got double the food just for showing up! Let me start off by saying they have the best fried pickles I've ever had. Met here with friends to see what the all day happy hour was about. I can tell you we were not dissatisfied. The menu is limited, but the prices of the wings, burger, and nachos were all 7 bucks for more than decent food. Drink specials are also some of the best out there! I tried this place on a whim. My partner ordered this to go so I only am reviewing how it was once it got to my house (about 15 min away). Each entree had a half rack of ribs, toast, fries and a side. The first picture shows a half rack, potato wedges, and corn. The ribs itself were really good. It also comes with bbq sauce to pour on top and the meat was very tender. I'd hive it a 8/10. It could have been a little more seasoned but I'm sure it would taste a lot better if I ate it right out the oven. The potato wedges were good, but could have been seasoned just a bit more and the corn was great. The toast was delicious as well. The second entree wasn't for me so I can't comment on the sweet potato fires or the broccoli. Serving wise and price I think it was pretty good. I was able to completely my whole plate, minus the corn. If I ate that too I would have been too full, but overall it was delicious. Walked into Smokey Bones Clearwater at 2:42 pm and it went downhill instantly. The place wasn't even busy, but the dining room looked like a hurricane hit it--dirty tables everywhere. We sat, and it took 20+ minutes before a server even showed up. My wife orders a Bones Margarita. It comes out looking like a toddler made it--salt dripping down the side of the glass, not a grain on the rim. Strike one. Appetizers: pretzels with cheese and cornbread. Cornbread was okay, but the pretzels were burnt, rock-hard, and blackened on the bottom. The "cheese sauce" was watery, tasteless sludge. That wasn't cheese--that was liquid depression in a cup. Strike two. We put faith in the Bone Fire. Huge mistake. After waiting an entire hour, the food finally crawled out of the kitchen looking like it had been assembled behind a gas station dumpster. * Ribs looked like they'd been hacked apart with a butter knife and tossed on the plate. * Potatoes were so overcooked they belonged in a museum exhibit, not on a plate. * Chicken still had feathers attached. * The sirloin steak was a complete joke--the size of a half-dollar coin. Called for the manager, and he strolls over with excuses: "The ribs are imported, the vendor sends the chicken that way." Nah, buddy--this isn't a vendor problem, it's a standards problem. If your ribs look like roadkill and your chicken's still rocking feathers, the only thing you should be importing is some pride in your kitchen. What you actually need isn't new vendors--it's new management. We left. Sent the food back, paid for drinks and apps, and still left a $10 tip for the server--because the staff wasn't the problem, the system is rotten from the top down. This wasn't food. This was punishment. Between the filthy dining room, the endless wait, the trash on the plates, and a manager who hides behind excuses, this place is a one-star dumpster fire. If you want real food and real service, go literally anywhere else. Smokey Bones Clearwater is where good meals go to die. Smokey Bones? More like Smokey Garbage. Bone Fire? More like Dumpster Fire. This location is conveniently located right on Gulf to Bay in central Clearwater. The bar selection is extensive and the food - particularly the wings - is phenomenal. But the primary reason for this review is to shout out the remarkable service of Juliana. We eat out multiple times a week and I legitimately cannot think of better service we have ever received. I recently dined at Smokey Bones for a casual night out, and while the food was generally good, the service left a lot to be desired. I started with the Triple Rum Punch, which was delicious. I had the nachos and a cup of brisket chili; both were flavorful and satisfying. My husband ordered the brisket platter, which was just okay. The portion size felt a bit underwhelming, especially the broccoli...there was barely any. Unfortunately, Our server kept disappearing for long stretches and forgot to bring us silverware. I ended up having to flag down another server just to get utensils, which was frustrating and disruptive to the meal. Because of this, we left a 10% tip, which is significantly less than the 18-20% we normally leave when service is decent. We won't be returning. read more

We stopped in for lunch at S B, a franchise that we never tried, but Cuz (who was with us) said it was a long time favorite of hers. They had a special on ribs, they rolled back the prices to 1999 (the year they opened) so it was $14.99 for a whole rack, plus two sides... Who could resist...!!! Wanted to start out by saying the server was nice. However, we ordered the brisket platter and when it came out, it looked a lot like pulled pork. when I pointed this out to the server. I was reassured that it was not pulled pork that It was the brisket that they just pull it apart sometimes. For the price I expected to be served intact brisket. I didn't want to return it as I had already eaten some, but I am still not certain that I was given brisket versus pulled pork. It was quite greasy which most barbecue is, but it did leave me and the person I went with feeling a little sick afterwards. I got a pulled pork sandwich which was dry as a bone so they got one thing right... sauces were all about the same taste and mediocre at that. Price to portion ratio was very disappointing. We had a large party and we were all in the mood for some BBQ and saw this place less than 15 minutes away. We've visited the local sites so why not try another location. The staff were very helpful, informative as well as accommodating. There is plenty of seating and can host large parties. I ordered the smoked rack of rice and the brisket grilled cheese. Over the last several weeks, we've eaten at Smokey Bones twice. The food quality has varied greatly. On our first visit, we ordered the 1/2 BBQ Chicken and the Brisket dinners. Both the chicken and brisket were great. We also tried their Brunswick Soup which was also very good, too. Their Caesar salad was bland. Overall, that was a good meal. On our second visit, we ordered the $19.99 Rack O'Backs Hot Honey Ribs Special. It was a full rack of baby back ribs along with two sides. I got the cole slaw and fries. The ribs were the driest, toughest ribs I have ever had. I relayed my dissatisfaction to the waiter and he agreed. They were removed from the bill. Since I had liked it before, I got another bowl of the Brunswick Stew. It was meatless. At this point, I wanted to cut my losses. The wait staff was utterly overwhelmed and thus the service was slow. It took over an hour for us to get our lunch. If you're on a lunch hour beware that it make take a lot longer than an hour to eat and get your bill. I can say that it may be quite awhile until I return...try Sonny's. read more

This was our first time here, all the way from the west coast. Arrived just as a tornado warning went out and rain started to pour from the sky. Seating was quick. Server came quick to get drink orders, never introduced himself, nor talked about any specials. And thats where the compliments end. We ordered a salad, wings, and the Bone Fire. It took well over 35 min to receive our food. Server never checked on us or gave an update, but refilled drinks. I noticed that people that sat down after us were getting their food. At the moment i was about to say cancel the food and leave, the food shows up. The salad was the only order that was its proper temperature. The wings had been sitting for quite some time and the sauce was below room temperature. Now this Bone Fire platter should have people suing, because it looked nothing like the picture advertised when it came out. I mean i was ready to leave, thats how disappointing it was. The meat had been sitting for some time as the steak was no longer moist in the middle, and all the meat was colder on top, than it was on the bottom, due to the lump of charcoal they put in the bottom. The potatoe wedges were snapping apart, the ribs looked like they came of a starved baby calf, and the half link of sausage was cut up to appear to be more. The peppers were the only good thing on there, becasue even the onions were more raw than cooked. Again, the server did not come over to do a table touch at our table, but checked on the tables around us. After some deep diving on reviews, i began to piece together some events that added more validity to customers reviews that were racially charged, than not. We are a vlended family, and the sad part is even the kids noticed. The serve came over to ask if i needed a box, not even taking the opportunity to ask if everything was good, which obvioulsy wasnt since i have a full platter and it had been about 20 min. He didnt off dessert, just a check. And after that, he didnt offer anymore refills either. I used my inKind app to pay. As we left, the server damn near ran us over trying to get to the staion, to see if we paid. I had the app open as he was clearing the plates. There was also no table touches by a manager or supervisor. Due to the experience me and my family had, i would not intend to come back to this establishment in Clearwater, i wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and would discourage any person of color, or blended familes, from visiting and possibly having an experience like ours. read more

I was visiting Clearwater and decided to get bbq. I ordered take away from here for the first time. I ordered baby back ribs, coleslaw and baked beans. The ribs were parboiled. If you sell bbq ribs in the US you should NEVER boil ribs. The ribs were tasteless. No flavour and no smoke. The cornbread and coleslaw was good. The baked beans were watery. We started out with silver margaritas, with a side shot of silver tequila. The drinks were excellent. Next, we both had their 1/2 rack of original pork ribs, with dry rub instead of BBQ sauce. Some meals are very well priced and others are on the expensive side. Atmosphere is cozy, clean, a bit cold. A light jacket would be nice to have. The only thing that I found terribly wrong is the false advertisement about their specials starting at $7.99 with a picture of half a rack of ribs with 2 sides and a piece of garlic bread. The advertisement picture is huge and posted right outside. Once you are lured in, it turns out that a bowl of some sort is $7.99 and the half a rack of ribs is actually up in the $12-13.
