Bonefish Grill was the ideal place for our library volunteer luncheon. We all could select something we enjoy and it was reasonably priced on their lunch special menu. Service, as well as the food, was excellent! We had background music, but it was low enough that we could talk and not overuse our voices. No library voices at this table! Only a few of us had leftovers, and I am so thankful that the employee cleaning our table set aside my leftovers when I forgot them. I had a Father's Day gift card for $50, so decided to take my wife in for some Bang Bang Shrimp. Went on a Wednesday evening and seated within 5 minutes. Went on a Wednesday because of the half price Bang Bang Shrimp with an entree. We really came for the Shrimp and figured to take most of entrees home. We enjoyed warm bread and olive oil while waiting. Our Bang Bang Shrimp came hot in 10 minutes. What a disappointment! The Bang Bang Shrimp was Ho Hum Shrimp!! Wasn't it Bonefish that started the spicy shrimp years ago and many followed with similar dishes? We actually first visited Bonefish for the Bang Bang Shrimp. I caught the attention of a manager and he explained not everyone likes it spicy. Then why not ask customer for a heat level, like Thai food. We usually get our Thai food at the top of the heat level! I asked the manager for some Cayenne Pepper to spice it up but could only supply red pepper flakes. Disappointing. On the other hand our entrees were excellent. My fish for Fish and Chips were perfect. Very hot, crunchy outside, tender and flaky inside. And the Chips were some of the best fries I have ever had! Had a good experience recently for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was slow, but the service was good and our food came out quickly. We shared a few drinks and appetizers, including the calamari, bang bang shrimp, and brussel sprouts. The food was good - a lot of fried batter which wasn't the best option but otherwise was good. I remember when the first bonefish opened in St. Pete over 25 years ago. It was good then, not great, but they didn't import their seafood from Louisville Kentucky. Less than 10 miles from local fishing boats, there isn't even a hint of fresh, local fish on the menu. Everything is frozen and bland. The best thing is the oil/herb dip for the bread. Not to mention chain restaurants food selection and quality is not as good as a smaller, quaint restaurant. However, I had a gift card for bonefish and it had been a long time since I have been. And it did not disappoint! I was quite shocked (in a good way) with the quality of the services, ambiance, food, and drinks. We went during happy hour, unintentionally, and the drinks were great prices and appetizers. If given the chance, I suggest checking them out then. You also get complimentary bread and oil. I really enjoyed the house margarita, I probably could've drank more than I'd like to admit too. The food was great and also tasted so fresh! Stopped and sat at the bar with a couple of friends before showing Ruth Eckerd Hall. Got there in time for happy hour or as they call it social hour. Shared several apps, including the wonton tuna, bang bang shrimp, regular tuna, and the chicken eggrolls. All were accompanied with tasty sauces and were great for sharing. You can't ever go wrong with their bread and they are happy to give it to you even if you're not having a full dinner. The happy hour wines are a nice selection. My wife and I went to bone fish grill in clearwater off of McMullen Booth road. I ordered fish and chips my wife ordered cod imperial. My meal was absolutely terrible. It was not freshly prepared, and it was mostly batter. It was overcooked. Total price for 2 meals, a diet coke and a glass of 6 oz wine was over eighty dollars. We ordered the crusted cod and a lobster bisque soup. It was good but not crave-able. Took a look at the wine menu and noticed no wines were extraordinary. Had Chloe's, Kim Crawfords, and other cheap wine overly priced for what they are so decided to not order a glass. Thanks for ruining our Christmas Eve, Bonefish. We arrived at 5:25 for a 6:15 reservation. We were told they'd get us in ASAP before the reservation, but it would be closer to reservation time. At 6:20, we were told it would be another 15min. Really?! "No, more like 20min." At 6:45, we placed our order to go at the bar. We discussed the situation with the manager, and had to ask for a comped appetizer - it certainly wasn't forthcoming. She did so, and gave us two cards for Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer that EXPIRED IN A WEEK. Our table was finally called at 6:50p, but by then we expected our to go order, which we finally received 45min after ordering. Had I known how long it would take, they should have have comped the meal or I should have gone ahead and walked out before the meal arrived, which I highly recommend if this happens to you. By the time we got home and sat down to eat at 8p, we were all hungry, frustrated and annoyed, and tired. The "crispy" Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts were soggy and flavorless, but the rest was "ok". Def not worth the price paid, nor the over two hour ordeal to get it. This is not good business practice, and I do not recommend Bonefish for your holiday or special event, as they can not be trusted with your special meal. read more

Ruined the holiday mood. We had a reservation for 6:15 pm, so we arrived at 5:25 pm to check in. The bar was at capacity so we just ordered drinks while we waited for our table. Drinks were good and our bartender was attentive for how busy she was. It took about an hour before the bar cleared and we decided to place a food order to go (at 6:28pm) as we were told it would "be a while" before our table was ready, even though our reservation was 15 minutes prior AND we had gotten there almost an hour ahead of time. Finally got the text that our table was ready at 6:56pm. Got our food at 7:18pm and left by 7:25pm. Worst management ever. If you have reservations available, they should be seated at the appropriate time, not 30+ minutes after the reservation. Food and drink were good, just don't ever book for a holiday. read more

While visiting the Tampa area, I stopped by this Bonefish Grill and was super happy when I walked out those doors. As a self-proclaimed "happy hour aficionado," I was pleased to try their new social hour items. Our server was super sweet and I never saw her without a smile which is something I appreciate immensely. The restaurant has a large, open floor plan which makes the restaurant feel larger than it is and nicely organized. I noticed this area has an older, retirement crowd that makes the idea of the early bird special very real in this location. Due to that there was a bit of a wait at 5pm to get drinks and food but I completely understood with the large number of guests here at this location. The drinks were the definition of fabulous when it came to taste and presentation. The garnishes were all fresh, from the mint to the pineapple stalks to the lemons. The coding crush was very sweet and went down like water which caused me to question whether I should have driven or not. The Jim beam based mango bourbon sour was just as yummy with a nice heavy, dark flavor from the bourbon nicely paired with the taste of mango. The ahi tuna poke was served with these incredibly delicious, seasoned chips that were sturdy enough to obtain the poke while not too strong to chip a tooth. Key line martini was excellent. Ordered the mahi mahi grilled with side salad and Brussels sprouts. I could not eat but a few bites as all were way over seasoned with salt. The waitress was nice to "wash" it off and that helped but just couldn't eat without reheating. Also, brought my salad home and rinsed. Every thing tasted fine after rinsed lol. Service was great. The manager brought the wrong food, she brought us a shrimp, I asked her is it chicken bc we ordered chicken. She looked confused, threw the shrimp on the table and then proceeded to argue with the server. in front of guests and basically told the server. I'm right and you're wrong bc I'm the manager and you're not. It was an older manager. There must have been 2 of them bc they were sitting down eating dinner together for atleast an hour. While dinner service was happening. seems like they do that a lot. It was 2 female managers. The portions have really shrunk! The prices have really gone up. Just barely above a fast food restaurant. Potatoes were cold and the scoop of potatoes very small. The lemon butter for the chicken was under the potatoes. This was once a good restaurant but has now become one of the typical chain restaurants with rude hostesses and very average staff. Not really a great experience! I would suggest trying a small family owned restaurant that appreciates your business. I won't be back. read more

The food was absolutely inedible. I ordered the Mahi Mahi Oscar, and the fish was so dry I couldn't ear it, and the seasoning was incompatible with fish. The crabmeat was barely present and there was a lemon "sauce" that was really sweet. I sent it back, and it was just as bad. read more

There was a time when Bonefish grill was the model of consistency. Doesn't seem the case anymore. Last 3 visits to different locations have all been disappointments. First, the service. Normally the Bloomin Brand chain had this amazing teamwork vibe where everyone helped each other out. Not a single food runner or server that passed by pre-bused our table. By the time the food came out there was 3 appetizer plates, 6 individual small dishes, 8 cups and two bread trays empty and stacked in the middle. We order beverages and waters first thing. We didn't get our waters until the entrees came out and had to ask multiple times to get them. The bread came out after the appetizers and the bread was cold. We were told the delay for bread was because it was in the oven. Don't even get me started on drink refills for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The food. BFG fries and Calamari apps were the highlight. The swordfish steak I got was super thin and over cooked. The "filet" and crab cake my wife got was awful. See the pic of both. The filet tasted like an awful cut of meat and the crab cake was a mushy soggy tasteless mess. The manager heard us asking talking about the filet and asked what was wrong. We showed it to her and told her it didn't really taste like filet, that melt in your mouth type flavor. She responded with "the cuts of meat we are getting now just aren't that good but I can get you another one if you'd like". Way to sell that replacement there, so we passed. To be fair she did remove it from the bill. Our daughters burger was dry and tasteless. The rest of the food was blah. In the end the meal with drinks and apps was $280 with tip. That's a good amount for a family to spend on sub par food. Third times a charm and we're done with Bloomin Brands. read more

We had just gotten pedis next door at our usual nail spot as we began a R&R week, so here we are. Alicia not among us this go round. This young lady (Natalie), to whom I indicated we were in no rush, obligingly backed off and continued side work behind the bar until we were ready. First up: beef & ginger potstickers. A tepid little collection of half dozen dumplings with some green onion and soy, resting atop what looked like lawn clippings from the ol' rock garden. Actually tasty albeit, as I said, tepid. Maybe the pan in which they were "pan fried" was a wee bit chilly??? I've eaten enough durn fish during Lenten season that I actually decided to go with the chicken Marsala; garlic mash and green beans on side. The Queen Bee chose her usual salmon with jasmine rice and them ubiquitous green beans. Hers was delightful and much to her usual liking Mine on the other hand was a total train wreck. Chicken was kinda too thick to be effectively sautéed or otherwise cooked properly for a dish such as this. So when I bit into it, indeed...Henny Penny was rubbery, bland and blech! Poor chicken died a second death and I sent it right back. Natalie said she'd let her manager know, yet no one showed up to apologize or make things right. I certainly let Natalie know about that as well, while at the same time not blaming HER for THEIR laxity, albeit she was stuck in the role as mouthpiece for (mis)management. I leave two (can't leave 2.5) stars due to QB's approval of her entree. I do know that we WILL NOT return. For all the money these people charge, focus on customer satisfaction should sharpen to a finer degree. We went to their Tapas & Tequila event and enjoyed the experience. The tequila martini was by far THE best drink. They need to put it on their regular menu. It started the 5 course meal accompanied by a wonderful ceviche. The second course was a disappointment. Tequila sangria - meh and the salad might have been good if it wasn't completely drenched in heavy dressing. I usually order dressing on the side because most restaurants use too much. I was nervous about course 3 sea bass. I'm usually not a fan but this was wonderful basted in tequila lime sauce! The dragonfruit margarita was good but a little too sweet for my palate. Course 4 seared scallops on a corn salad spicy and good. And the finale was chocolate churros with a spicy chocolate dipping sauce the accompanying drink a carajillo which is cold brew coffee, grand marnier and tequila. This was my second favorite drink of the evening. They staffed the event well so service was great. The event took place in the main dining room so it was a bit noisy. I'll keep my eyes open for more of these events we had a nice evening. read more

OK. So long time 2-3 times a month BFG patrons have decided we are done. The last 4 visits have ruined it for us. Every single time we go there's an issue. If we're dining in they're gracious and it gets fixed. But it's every time. Wrong salad, wrong sides, undercooked entree. Always something, usually minor but consistent and wrong. But tonight I ordered wood grilled salmon. The "lightly seasoned" salmon was blackened and overcooked. The fries were sealed in a bag making them so soggy as to be inedible. Yes they were opened immediately and within 5 minutes of pickup. And if the sogginess hadn't killed them the salt would've. And probably me as well. And if those hadn't killed them they were cold. The broccoli was less than room temperature, watery and way overcooked. Even the two slices of bread were stale! Unfortunately this was a carryout and I wasn't driving back, even if it under a mile from home. read more

We were so excited to get Bonefish on Ubereats - but, wow! Such a disappointment! They are giving away a free Bang Bang Shrimp if you spend $40 - but it was more likea punishment for spending that much. LOL They were dry, and over fried, and gummy, and basically horrible. Our dog even side-eyed them. The Rockefeller Butterfish was also disappointing, but I don't know if it was the preparation, or just the type of fish (I don't think I've had Butterfish before). Not very much was good at Bonefish Grill, let me count the ways: (1) the beef-ginger potstickers- the worst potstickers I've ever had in my life. But I was stupid to order an Asian dish at a fish house, (2) the lobster tails were good, but they did not even come with drawn butter (instead they provide "warm butter"), (3) the Chilean sea bass was tough, probably overcooked and did not really taste like sea bass - at a minimum, ensure you ask for a thick cut, and (4) the broccoli was a mixture of mushy overcooked pieces and hard as a rock undercook florets! I'd recommend an audit of what's happening in this kitchen. read more

Wasteful Togo practices. They shove plastic cutlery in your bag just like the other fast food style restaurants and send you off with huge plastic boxes for hardly any food. Not sure how you screw up asparagus, but it was not good and that's hard to accomplish. Bang bang shrimp was okay, definitely not as good as it used to be. Definitely need to switch to smaller boxes and incorporate environmentally friendly materials. I am a huge fan of Bonefish and have been for over a decade! Although they are a chain, it feels like you're dining at a family restaurant with creative and unique recipes that never disappoint. I tried them for delivery with one of the popular apps when I couldn't go out one day and was pleasantly surprised by how good their food was via delivery too. My first choice would be to order and eat it fresh while dining in, but it is good to know that their food comes out just as well when being delivered. Their seared ahi tuna is one of my faves, and if you like tuna I would highly recommend it! I've tried seared ahi tuna at other places, but none have been quite as good as Bonefish Grill! read more

We had a good discussion about what was right and wrong that night, and he is going to make things right. So... updating back to 4 Stars. It's o.k. to have a bad night once in a while if you acknowledge it, and try harder. Thanks for making the effort. I generally love Bonefish Grill. However, tonight's visit was not good. First, the restaurant was very understaffed. Even the staff were complaining. Plus, it seems that Bonefish no longer has bus staff, so the servers have to do it all. Tables turn over slower, and there are tables everywhere with dirty dishes. It took about 10 minutes past our reservation time to get seated. Everything was slow. We wound up being there over two hours for dinner, with no appetizers, dessert, or coffee. The most annoying part though was my dinner. I ordered the 7 oz. Filet Mignon. When it arrived, it was not a filet -- it was a sirloin that was maybe 1 inch thick. I've eaten many filets, and this was not one. I asked about the mistake, and no one -- not even the manager -- would admit the steak was not a filet mignon. They offered to cook a new steak, but by this point my dinner companions were half done with their meals. I said I would eat the steak. If was...fine. It was not medium, it was well-done. And it tasted like something I would get at Chilis or Fridays. The manager said he would "take care of it." I let it go at that. When the bill arrived, they adjusted my meal from the $23.99 for the filet mignon to the $17.99 for the 7 oz. sirloin. I didn't need a free meal or anything, but something other than just charging me for the steak they tried to pawn off on me would be nice. A free desert maybe? I wound up eating a steak I did not really want and did not order. You can do better, Bonefish. Try harder. read more
