I hate saying anything negative about a small business but this one was so disappointing. I had it on my list to visit for a couple of years now, looking forward to tasting some good home southern BBQ. I first checked their Google page and menu to be sure what I wanted to get. But when I got there the prices were drastically higher. I had planned on the brisket plate but once there I was told it was $31 and there was no way I was paying that for BBQ for one person. Google had it listed for $18. Next was the ribs but that was $17 for 6 bones no sides. So I decided to go with a classic pulled pork sandwich which came with one side. Their recommendation was Mac n cheese so I went with that. Usually I love Baked Beans but with it being my first time I wanted to taste what people rave about. The man who took my order, not sure if he was the owner or not was very nice and accommodating. And I did mention the google discrepancy. Now here is where the one star comes in and this pains me because I hate giving 1star reviews especially in this case but the pulled pork had no flavor, the bbq sauce wasn't good, the Mac n cheese also not great. All was extremely subpar from a place that should specialize in BBQ then throw in the high prices there was nothing worth giving a better rating. Even with the Mac n cheese you could throw some small bits of brisket or ribs in it to give it that Smokey bbq flavor similar to how Sonny's has bits of meat in their baked beans. Truthfully I have never had BBQ that I didn't like until today. Usually there is good BBQ and great BBQ but sadly I've had better BBQ at Thanksgiving with Joe and his smoker. I was the only one there at 7pm on a Saturday but it's also not a restaurant so that could be why. I am confused about the good reviews and wonder if it's just locals hyping it up out of support. But for me, I've been writing fair, honest reviews for 15 years so if I write one it's going to be real. This is our GO TO spot on the bike trail to grab food! We come here every month and the food is always AMAZING! This time we got their new octoberfest nachos, which were to die for! This BBQ spot has got it all! I love BBQ and I try as many places as I can. Real BBQ is by far the best brisket in West Florida, perfect pull, perfect chew, great bark. Served unsauced, this brisket is like being transported to Lockhart, TX to the kings of brisket. The applewood smoked Cobia is also perfectly cooked. It's easy to over-smoke some white fleshed fish. This was definitely not too smokey, just pure deliciousness. Likewise, the pulled pork is as good as you can find in the Carolinas. The sides are tasty too, with a couple of Keto friendly sides also. Super nice people got the grilled cheese with brisket. It was small think 2 pieces of Texas garlic toast you'd buy in your freezer section as a grilled cheese, it was just a tich bigger than that. It was good, the brisket was super fatty and to be honest I wouldn't order it again with brisket or even meat as the garlic toast is over powering you don't get to taste the meat. The bbq sauce was fine but it has corn syrup in it. Nice they are on site so if your hungry you can grab something but I wouldn't go outta by way to go here. read more

Nearly finishing my bike ride on the trail I spied Reel BBQ food truck on the side of the road and decided to come back for lunch. I saw the unique Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese sandwich and went with that. The owner of the truck was a very friendly guy and a good conversationalist. In a few minutes my order was ready, so I sat at one of his tables and starting chowing down on a greasy-in-a-good way bbq sandwich. You control the amount of sauce, so at his recommendation I went with the Reel variety and it was pretty good. The meat on the sandwich was very tender, and the portion was really suitable for two people. Although it was a little bit pricey, I would not say it was crazy expensive. All in all it was a nice break from restaurant bbq. Supporting local businesses is the way to go. read more

Great bbq and service. Tried a 2 meat plate...wagyu brisket and ribs with beans and coleslaw and Mexican Coca Cola. Excellent lunch. The owner does an excellent job smoking the bbq, prepares the meals with excellent presentation and delivers them to your table. Works his butt off for each customer. Even took care of some of our trash on his way back to his food trailer to get the next customer's food. Great smoke flavor, no added preservatives, and makes everything himself. I liked Reel BBQ so much I ate here 2 days in a row. It's a great place to stop for lunch and a brew after a long bike ride on the Pinellas Trail. I really hate thrashing small businesses on Yelp, but how in the fugg this food truck has a 4.5 rating is beyond me. First of all, the guy working there needs to do some market research and get to know his audience. I can guaran-freaking-tee you that none of them are interested in hearing Tupac's Makaveli album blasting out of the speakers. I mean, WTF is this guy thinking? "Ya know, I'm gonna blast some Gangsta Rap out the truck today. Yeah, that's what I'm gonna do." Second, the food sucked. Absolutely and without question the worst que I've ever eaten in my life. Finally tried this place. First the good, the beans were good. As for everything else, I'd rate it as "Meh". The pulled pork and ribs had no smoke flavor. Absolutely no bark on the pulled pork whatsoever. Nothing special about the Mac & Cheese. I saw a bag of Kingsford charcoal which probably explains why there was no smoke flavor . I also felt like their prices were too high, especially for the brisket which is why I didn't try it. Today I tried explaining Yelp to my dad. When I told him that the random BBQ trailer on Alt. 19 had 5 stars he immediately said, "I almost pulled in there today, let's go!!" Another dreamy BBQ joint brought to my attention only by Yelp. We pulled up around 6pm and stood outside for a while hoping someone was inside. The owner came to the window and apologized because he was doing dishes. This guy does everything and he does it well! He deserves the five stars and I'm hoping the review number will increase, this place needs to be discovered! For taking the order, cooking, AND assembling... the food came out quickly. We waited no longer than five minutes for $40 worth of food. It was also all very fresh. I don't know how this man does it! We ordered a whole chicken, one pulled pork grilled cheese, one pulled pork sandwich, 16 oz beans, 16 oz slaw, and 4 oz mac to try. I'll start with my favorite part: THE SAUCES. So much flavor. I especially loved the Reel sauce, the mustard and sweet sauce mix with a little bit of a kick. The hot was also very flavorful and not too spicy, but offered a good amount of kick and flavor to my sandwich. My mac was very cheesy and I wish I had gotten a bigger serving! I also had the pulled pork grilled cheese, the cheese on both sides of the bread offered a good structure for the amount of pork that was loaded on! At first glance it looked like a small serving, but the meat itself could last me two meals. The beans and slaw weren't the best I've ever had, but were good. The slaw and mac I would definitely order again! I'm very impressed with this place and wish I had tried it sooner. It's been sitting in my bookmarks for months! I had the salad with the lemon vinaigrette dressing. I make my own dressings and I can be a salad dressing snob; this was one of the best I've ever tasted! This is a BBQ truck on alternate 19 in Palm Harbor. We walked up to the truck and the employee working there was very friendly and very helpful. Suggested the ribs because they just brought them off the smoker. We really did not care for this barbecue stand because we felt the sweet sauce was a bit spicy, another sauce was spicy and we did not even try the spicy sauce. The ribs were good but very crispy on the outside. Some people like that I thought they were a little bit burnt. They were also spicy. The barbecue pork had no smoke flavor and it was plain. Have been meaning to stop by and check it out since December. Ordered the pork sandwich which comes with 2 sides and a can of soda for $7. Add 'grilled cheese style' for an extra $2. We had the mac n cheese and beans. The sandwich was ultra stuffed and made with texas toast style garlic bread. Had a nice grilled crunch to it. The cheese was melted and the whole thing was about as perfect as one can get. They do not douse it in bbq sauce but there are 4 to choose form at the picnic tables. You can also pour your own to go bbq sauce if you get it to go. The mac n cheese was some of the best I have had. It was thick but melted cheese and very tasty. The beans were probably the mediocre part of the meal. Not bad but also not the star of the show. Napkins at the table and forks at the food truck. We could have used a knife to cut the sandwich in half. Large enough menu to meet anyone's needs unless you are vegan or vegetarian. They do offer cole slaw though so vegetarians rejoice. Parking is ample and there is a large trash can for your trash. We would definitely return if we were in the area. We are always searching for bbq that is midwest worthy. Well done. Let's start with the pulled pork...it was overcooked and greasy, like they keep it soaking in the fat until serving it. It was shown as served on garlic bread, but we got a roll. The cole slaw was absolutely tasteless, no dressing to speak of, we had it on the side. We ordered baked beans, advertised as "with meat" , but none seen , and actually tasted like a can of pork and beans with a ton of molasses mixed in. Unfortunately, we have lived in Memphis for quite awhile, and maybe expect BBQ to taste like BBQ. In the lunch hour, they told customers " our smoker is down, it'll be about 30 minutes" , which had 1 customer very angry , he left. Seriously, don't waste your time, nothing special here.
