The two poutines we went in for were sold out (Drunken chicken and Hot Chick)... ordered the Korean & Butter chicken instead with a side of plain fries for the kiddo. Gross. Period. Okay I'll expand. Staff that couldn't care less if the food they prepare for the drunks at 2am is tasty or not. Drunks that don't care if the food prepared is flavourful/edible/of any value or not. In other words an unstoppable force that meets an immovable object and what you're left with is a gooey poutine mismatched with odd flavour combinations in a box. Smokes is always delicious- this one is in a great location, service was fast. We were shocked though that there was only one woman working there today (Sunday Dec 27) and when she was up front she wore a paper mask, the moment she went into the open kitchen to also do food prep she used bare hands to drop her mask under her chin while she was prepping food, then again used her hands to pull it up as she returned to the front cash area. It's basically impossible for me to give this place a bad review - it's an entire restaurant devoted to the quintessential Canadian treat! I'm so excited that the popularity of this Quebec-birthed food has finally really, truly caught on in western Canada. Anyway, having been to (one of?) the flagship Smoke's in Ottawa, I do have a basis for comparison. Flavours - amazing. And expanded from the menu I remember out east. It was opening day, so I don't feel right commenting on the anxious/busy staff except to say that everyone was very friendly, and the food was relatively quick to come out. My only smidgen of a complaint was that the fries were a little hard/cold, but again - opening day. Busy. I didn't love my Montreal smoked meat poutine, but that was just my own taste, nothing on the ingredients used. My friend's Nacho Grande was epic and heart-palpitatingly piled up. In all, I say give this place a shot, if only to support a little piece of national food pride. Keep the poutinerie alive! read more

First. The food is okay. Second. The service by the owner is the worst i have ever encountered (and I've encountered poor service.) Please, save your money and go to Sliderz for your poutine needs. This place will not be in business long with an owner like this. He swears and yells and is just a mean, nasty person to deal with. I had to write to the head office because of my poor experience. If I could give zero stars I would first they don't even take visa this is 2014. Then we get some of our fries eaten and fine a black hair curled around the fry. My sister brings up the fries and asks for a refund and the cashier says I don't do refunds and hands her more Fries. We said we don't want your fries with hair in it. YUM! This place is very close to where I am staying at. I like that they are open late on the weekends. Huge selection of poutine creations! Too much to choose from that i made my own creation of frites with sausage, bacon, mushrooms, and chilli. Fun, friendly staff who can handle the customers who are drunk as skunks and high as kites on the weekends in the twilight hours! read more

This is the nearest thing to real, honest-to-God, proper Québec/Eastern Ontario, Chip Truck poutine I've had since I moved to BC 20 years ago from Ottawa. And I've been looking. While Ottawa isn't the capital of Poutinedom, it might just be the second city. It ain't great, but it's pretty darn good. I can't compare the "flavoured" poutines that you see now, because we didn't have them then (insert raspy old man voice: "When I was young we didn't have any of them fancy poutines like now. No sir. When I was young, poutine was twice cooked fries, white cheese curds and dark rich beef gravy. And that was all, we didn't need no fancy Nacho poutine, or bacon poutine...") but the regular poutine these guys serve is as close to what I had 20 years ago that I can find. Not bad at all. Service here is basic counter and delivery, but that suits the food. As does the very limited beverage selection of pop and plain, but decent contract brewed beer. Great après bar food. read more

Stopped for a quick lunch. The management has allowed for social distancing and the outside patio on Bernard St is spacious. I recommend the butter chicken poutine! The fries are crispy perfect and the cheese squeaks. Stop in and support a local business. read more

My husband and I went in there tonight wanting poutine and the young guy behind the counter was super ignorant!! We asked if their going to have the thanksgiving poutine this year ,he said in a rude voice " at thanksgiving". My husband then said oct 13 or so then? Again rude he says "I dunno" shrugging his shoulders.I said "you dont need to be so ignorant. He said nothing. So we left.Never in all the 24 years living in Kelowna have I encountered someone so rude at a restaurant. If this is how the fronts run hows things in the back ? My husband went back in to ask his name so we can fwd a complaint to the owners. He said its Alex . Yet to see if this is his real name ?? Unfortunately, the owner of this location is a jerk. Service was horrible but the food was tasty. I love their food but sadly, due to one altercation with the owner over a frequency stamp has left me questioning why I would go back..? I can find poutine anywhere in Kelowna - and some are better options. Is the very poor service worth enduring for this poutine? I just don't know any more. read more

Saw the reviews and was a little nervous to give this place a try. ..not into fighting for my food. The guy behind the counter was nice, no issues not sure if he was the owner or not.... I am used to just simple pountine so was a little overwhelmed by the selection. We went with the Montreal...I love that smoked meat. This was really good! The smoked meat was authentic and the fried gravy and cheese curds were awesome. My only complaint would be the mustard they poured on one side of the box... I am not sure if it said that on the menu board or not. I woukd go back and eat the same thing again, but be sure to say no mustard...it was just weird. Look forward to going g back. read more

As with some of the reviews, service is not their hugest forté. Really, hit or miss. But I enjoyed the poutine. They're huge. A bit pricey, but the 3-pork was so heavy and meaty. The Fajita had an interesting sweetness to it that was okay. But the Philly Cheese Steak was so good. Totally down my alley. Even though it's just fries, it was a decent meal for both me and my fiancé. Definitely enjoyed it.Also nice, since everything is closed early on Bernard, to grab late night snacks. read more

I'm a poutine lover and was exited at the prospect of eating at la Poutinerie. I ordered a traditional, the classic poutine with no extras on top. How disappointed I was... Right away I noticed the fries are kind of overcooked, meaning that they have more crunch than potato meat, when that happens you also get more oil. Second, and this is a big one, there is very little cheese curds. At first you get cheese with every bite but once you get through the top layer all you get is fries and gravy. read more

After reading a lot of reviews from other Smoke's restaurants around Canada I was a little iffy about trying the new one in Kelowna but thought I would give it a try anyway. Big mistake!. I should have stuck with the reviews. I was extremely disappointed. As a lot of the other reviews say, the fries were soggy (not hot either), the gravy was flavourless and barely any cheese. Purchased the nacho grande. They were generous with their toppings. Cheese curds were solid - not melting in the hot bowl of fries. The large filled 2 people. Would come again to try the butter chicken and Korean BBQ flavors. read more

First Visit Disappointing. I had been to Smoke's in Toronto and was blown away, so was excited to see a location in Kelowna. Ordered the Fajita poutine....it was cold and goopy. I went to the front and asked the sales clerk if it would be possible to try something else as I didn't care for this one. She went to speak with the Manager. And here is where it goes downhill.....so now I can hear the manager asking her twenty questions. She turned it into a federal case! Really. It's fries. I felt uncomfortable with the managers obvious lack of customer service and let my spouse handle the replacement, which they ultimately agreed to. We had the traditional poutine and it was fine.
