Taqueria Juarez - Street tacos with peanut sauce

I have been going to Taqueria Juarez for years. It is consistently good hearty authentic fare, full…read moreof flavor and always satisfying. The service is friendly and quick. The ambiance is sparse, as it is a food truck in a parking lot with a few picnic tables in front, some under cover of a canopy. But the food more than makes up for the no-frills experience. My favorites here are the torta and the tacos, but I have tried everything on the menu and it is all good--not one single dud. The torta is an amazing griddle sandwich filled with toppings such as meat, cheese, beans, tomato, avocado, jalapeño, and more. You choose which meat you prefer; I highly recommend the campechano which is a three-meat combo of pork, steak, and chorizo sausage. The serving size is generous, and some might be able to make two meals out of one sandwich, which is served conveniently cut in half. The tacos are sold individually, so you can mix and match however you like. Meat choices include steak, chicken, pork, shrimp, chorizos, and some specialty meats such as cow's head and tongue. Tacos are made with corn tortillas containing meat, onions, and cilantro. They are served with grilled spring onion and fresh cucumbers on the side, which are a surprisingly perfect complement. The burrito is stuffed with a ton of toppings, and again you choose your meat. Here too, I think the campechano is the best option, but you do you. The quesadilla is huge and full of flavor thanks to the addition of veggies to the typical meat and cheese. The huarache is a big piece of masa flatbread that is fried and topped with meat and veggies. It kind of looks like a pizza, but oval-shaped and personal-sized. It's a very filling entree. The sopes are also made with fried masa dough, but they are small and round and more bowl-like in shape, and they too are filled with meat and veggies. These are served three per order and for most people will be a filling portion. The base meats are the same for any of the entrees, so you can choose how you would like any of the entrees prepared. The staff is good about asking if you want all the listed toppings or if you want to customize. There are three different salsas to choose from. I have found that most of the dishes are well-seasoned and don't need a salsa to achieve satisfactory flavor, but the salsas are complementary to any of the dishes. There is a smoky chipotle sauce, a red chili sauce, and a green chili sauce. My favorite is the green--a splash of this on the sandwich or burrito gives a little heat without overpowering. If you haven't been to Taqueria Juarez yet, you are missing out. If you have been before, next time try something different on the menu, as you can't go wrong with any selection.

I definitely get the hype now! I had been here a few years ago and got a quesadilla that I wasn't…read morereally impressed with but these tacos? Definitely satisfied the taco craving I was having. The asada and birria were SO good. The chicken was my least favorite but still good. $12 for 3 tacos and service was fairly quick even though there was their usual crowd. Green sauce was good and spicy but that chipotle? Delicious.

This jumped easily to my top three taco spots in Bham. And all of them are taco trucks…read more The location in front of Luckie's Pinestraw is unassuming. I passed this truck for the past year without stopping. It was a wasted year. The tacos are fairly priced ($2.50 each) and they allow you to select the salsa you want out of four. The tortillas.... beautiful. Warm. Slight crunch. Never dry. So so good. So many taco places in Birmingham fail at this. I got two asada and one al pastor taco. The food came out quickly and the man behind the window was so pleasant. The asada was juicy and the al pastor had a beautiful char on it. I'll definitely be stopping by here weekly.

I am always greatful for the tables that they provide. Today I got asada tacos. Although they are just beef tacos, the meat is very rich and has a great contrast with salsa. They usually give two different salsas', these being salsa Verde and red salsa. The red salsa is spicier, but it is worth the kick. I ordered three tacos and it was just 9 dollars in total. Taco Don Andy always has great food for an even greater cost. Overall, the tacos came with diced onion, cilantro, and salsa. These components are necessary to have the best taco ever! This food truck also uses corn tortillas, which is perfect for tacos on the go.
