Smoke Daddy was one of the 4 restaurants I gave as options for a Sunday date during the first weekend of Chicago Restaurant Week. My date picked a different restaurant within walking distance, but their kitchen lacked the food to prepare the restaurant week menu(?) so we ended up walking to Smoke Daddy. It definitely worked out for us! Cheers: We don't drink so we skipped the bourbon and beer and opted for Coke (boyfriend) and Diet Coke (me) Snacks: We ordered the Brisket Deviled Eggs and the Loaded Fries. The Brisket Deviled Eggs barely lasted on the plate, the half egg was rich and a perfect mix of savory with the brisket and sweet with the Mike's Hot Honey. The Loaded Fries were generous portion and had an engaging mix of sweet, spicy, cheesy, salty, and meaty as it was fries topped with mac daddy cheese sauce, pulled pork, chipotle ranch, green chile jam, and scallions! Every bite had toppings, but it wasn't too messy to eat. Mains: We both strategically ordered the Little City Eats. Between the two of us, we were able to try both the pulled pork AND the brisket as well as mac and cheese, cornbread, beans, and onion rings. We had fries for the snack course so only missed trying the coleslaw! The brisket melted in your mouth and was not overly fatty and pulled pork was moist and flavorful. The ribs were some of the best ribs I have ever eaten! The chicken pinwheel was moist and flavorful as well. For the sides, the beans were smoky, meaty, and cooked to perfection. The cornbread was not too dry, came with the perfect amount of cinnamon butter, and was surprisingly packed with flavor. The onion rings were crispy without being oily and also packed with flavor! I just had a bite of the mac and cheese and it was good, but not something that made me say, "Wow!" compared to everything else I put into my mouth. BBQ sauces: You didn't need their BBQ sauces at all, which speaks volumes for their food, but I tried all 4 out of curiosity. Each table offers: Sweet & Smoky, Mustard Q, BBQ Original, and Blazin' Hot. The Sweet & Smoky was my favorite with the BBQ Original a close second. The Mustard Q just wasn't for me and the Blazin' Hot was not hot to me at all. The green chile jam on the loaded fries left more of a tingle in my mouth. And now back to our regularly scheduled program, Dessert: Again, being strategic, we ordered one Key Lime Pie and one Banana Pudding, but when they came out, I was stopped in my tracks because they looked like they had pecans on them and I am allergic. I was also eating at a different restaurant than my parents and my daughter because my daughter loves seafood and I cannot eat shellfish, but I wasn't thinking about pecans at the BBQ! Shoutout to Juan, our wonderful waiter for bringing a banana pudding without the pecans on top so I could try it. It was one of the best desserts I have ever eaten! I have never seen my boyfriend look as happy as he did eating the banana pudding. The Key Lime Pie had to remain a mystery to me because the crust was graham cracker pecan and I could not try it. It was boxed up and shared with my daughter who gobbled it up so I believe it was good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant had the most beautiful view of Wrigley Field...it didn't even look real![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seating was spaced out and they had a variety of options--booths, high tops, tables, etc.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was pretty empty in there because of the weather? The football games were on, but they switched from the television sound after the Seahawks beat the Broncos, haha. I could see the second game, just couldn't hear it, and that is okay![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Juan, again, was an awesome waiter who answered all of our questions patiently and made sure our sodas stayed pretty full! We did not feel rushed as we took our time tackling the mains and sides. He was attentive, but not overbearing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The women's bathroom was clean, but my boyfriend said the men's smelt like old urine. I will have to take his word on that![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, it turned out to be a lovely evening although it was unplanned. My boyfriend already asked if we can please go back before Chicago Restaurant Week is over. Probably to eat more banana pudding. Sans pecans!

We tried their Chicago Restaurant Week menu and got to choose from some of their popular items. For $45, we got an appetizer, entrée, drink, and dessert. The brisket was pretty tender, but I would've liked a little more flavor. The sides were okay--I usually prefer sweet baked beans, and theirs were smoked, so it was an interesting new flavor. The banana pudding was scrape-the-bowl worthy--definitely recommend!

This BBQ place across the street from Wrigley Field has a great menu with dishes that give you the flexibility of trying several of their smoked meats and terrific sides. If you like Smokey sweet baked beans with pieces of brisket throughout, you'll love these. The coleslaw is perfect, not too saucy, yet creamy enough. The brisket and the ribs are standouts here. The space is wide open so you can see all the Wrigley Field action throughout your meal. The staff is very professional and welcoming. The service here is reason enough to come.

Good food, great views! Directly across from Wrigley it's a perfect spot to pregame before the cubs game. Ordered the smoked meat platter and easily fed 2 people. Waiting for baseball game....Service was great at 4pm. Ordered the Mac Daddy w/pulled pork- good. Cheesiness was different from my SWest upbringing. Pulled pork, brisket and turkey was so good - very juicy! A lot of the time with turkey & chicken it can be dry but not here. Beans were a lil spicy for me but my partner loved it.

We visited Smoke Daddy when the kids weren't really feeling it at the Christkindl market. The Christmas decor was great. Our server Juan was *amazing* and we had a great meal. I had brunch and everything was so good. The bacon was perfect. The hashbrowns were very well seasoned and flavorful. The pancakes were good and the monkey bread was perfect! I had the breakfast sandwich. I had no idea brisket, eggs, American cheese and bacon would be so perfect together. Definitely a fun Sunday stop!

Pro tip: don't skip the Bloody Mary with back pony (if you know, you know) This place nails it.

We came before a Cubs game and the restaurant did not disappoint! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was lively[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], service was prompt, and the food was great. Going not during Cubs traffic is key. Unfortunately, they were still out of the burnt ends though. The Daddy-O brisket and sauce were pretty good, definitely the favorite item. Hot links, pulled pork, and Mac were all just classic - pretty decent. The beans had meat in them and were actually kinda different and really good. Overall was impressed by the price and quality for a Wrigley BBQ place.

We had a great waiter who checked on us often. This was so much food that I had plenty left to take home as well. The brisket deviled eggs are so delicious! The loaded fries are worth ordering. The little city eats has to be the best deal on the menu. It comes with so much meat. Honestly that was my only meal that day because I was so full after! The plate comes with 3 types of meat with 2 sides. I chose the brisket, cole slaw, and cornbread. They have an assortment of bbq sauces on the table. My favorite was the blazing hot sauce with the mustard sauce in 2nd place. The banana pudding is delicious. Presentation points for the banana pudding cause I was not expecting it to look so nice.

After touring Wrigley Field, our group of 11 headed over to Smoke Daddy for lunch, and it couldn't have been a better choice. They had no problem accommodating our large party, and the entire experience was excellent. The food was amazing. We ordered the "Taste of the Daddy," a massive tray loaded with brisket, pulled pork, a full rack of ribs, half a chicken, hot links, mac & cheese, pit beans, and more. Every bite was packed with smoky flavor, but the ribs and pit beans were personal standouts. Absolutely delicious. Our server, Sydney, was fantastic, fast, attentive, and full of great recommendations that helped us navigate the menu. She really added to the experience. My only complaint was that I wanted to buy a Smoke Daddy 94 t-shirt, but there were no XL sizes available. It was a bit disappointing since we came all the way from California to visit. Note to the manager: please consider stocking more XL shirts. Overall the vibe inside is fun and casual, with a cool neighborhood feel and a definite Cubs connection. Don't be surprised if you spot a former or current Cubs player grabbing a bite. Whether you're a local or just in town for a game, Smoke Daddy is a must-visit in Wrigleyville.

Smoke Daddy did not disappoint. Stopped in here after visiting the Wicker Park location a few years ago. On this occasion the Bears were playing. Several TV playing NFL games playing. We were served by Colleen, who was also making fierce drinks. For cocktails we grabbed an old fashion and Cubbie blue margarita. We went straight in for bbq which was delicious. Hubby and I both ordered the two meat platter which includes 2 sides. I got the ribs and brisket with beans and cornbread. My husband grabbed the brisket and pulled pork. We both enjoyed our entrees. The beans were impressive. I also killed those ribs. Nice date night and really enjoyed this restaurant.

Open air patio across the street from Wrigley Field. Clean, seated promptly. Ordered a two meat plate with moist brisket and baby backs (upcharge) for ribs but you get a half rack and wife got the burnt ends. Burnt ends were the best of the BBQ with ribs good but too much sauce. Brisket only passable as it was cut on a meat slicer and cut the wrong direction. The real star was the banana pudding served in a shake glass. All in, good BBQ for Chicago but the view and ambiance is amazing. Our server was Elle and she provided excellent service. read more

Finally made it here after living around the corner for the past year - glad it's so close after knowing it's a great spot! We walked in an hour before the cubs game and they sat us (4) right away, service was pretty quick given every table was packed. It's a great pre-game atmosphere, sports TVs, fun music, friendly service, and great food. Most of our group got the brisket sandwich, I got the pulled pork, everything had a nice smoky taste and there were a bunch of yummy sauces to choose from. My favorite was the Sweet and Smoky. I recommend coming here for a game day or happy hour! They're reasonably priced for BBQ in Chicago, and I haven't had any comparable BBQ in the wrigley area read more

I had the BBQ Burger and it was fantastic. So much flavorful pork on top of a juicy burger. The fries were divine, as well. It's a Cubs night game, so very busy. Bri was very quick with service at the bar. It's Wrigleyville - the adult Disneyland with Gallagher Way now added. Awesome lunchtime fun! Brian P you cannot say we didn't come in the restaurant cause he has the receipt to prove it. You are a terrible waiter. You should not be allowed to work in the service industry.. you do not how to treat Black people and that is a no no it is 2025 and you should be ashamed of your goddamn self. Now when a white couple came in he was Mr. happy go lucky oh, would you like to try a sample it is this, but you never offer it to the Black people. You never came back once and ask how was the food now I'm ready to tell you how to food was the food sucks. It's not even real ribs. They taste like they was put in the oven with that bogus barbecue sauce taste like chili powder. The beans was even terrible. You don't have to worry about us coming back up in this restaurant again and every chance I get I'm going to shame the restaurant, for even hiring t you work there. they should've never hired you. Came here about a month ago on a Sunday morning with my husband and parents because we wanted to eat before spending time at the Wrigleyville Christkindle market. We had amazing service, and the restaurant was decked out in cute Christmas/winter decor! My parents have been here plenty of times before, but neither my husband nor I have, so it was the first time for us. When we got here, the restaurant had just opened for brunch. We sat downstairs near the windows, and we ended up having a great waiter named Preston, who was so personable and friendly. He made so many jokes and sweet comments, and he really made the experience a lot of fun. As for food, the brunch menu is a little confusing because the menu doesn't say you can get any of the brunch entrées a la carte, but Preston allowed us to do so because we didn't want to do a family style breakfast. I ended up not getting anything on the brunch menu, but the rest of my family did, and they loved what they ordered. I ordered the cajun fish sandwich, and it was amazing. It was so full of flavor and seasonings, and the sweet potato fries were delicious, as well. I was able to put hot sauce on my sandwich, too, because Smoke Daddy has multiple different bottles of their own crafted hot sauces at every table. We all ended up ordering Smoke Daddy's Famous Bloody Mary. I was the only person who ordered it spicy, but it wasn't too spicy, though it had a perfect balance of alcohol and bloody mary mix. The bloody came with a smoked rib that came RIGHT off the bone. YUM! Overall, I will definitely be back here because the food was great, and so was the atmosphere and service. I'm not sure how it is on a busy night or a weekend, so this review is strictly about my experience during a dead Sunday morning. read more

Came here for brunch with my family and had an amazing experience. Ivan was our server and he was truly incredible. His attention to detail and level of service were unmatched. Even though he was clearly busy, we never once had to ask for anything! Our drinks were always full, breakfast meats were constantly refreshed, and everything stayed perfectly replenished without us lifting a finger. That kind of service is rare and really made our brunch special. Huge shoutout to Ivan for setting the bar very high. We'll definitely be back. read more

Smoke daddy is such a cozy vibe place to come with friends, families, or even date night. The service is friendly and kind. A group of my friends and I came here roughly 40 minutes before closing and they sat us down which was so amazing of them to. Definitely order the nacho, it's delicious. Some of the meats we got were really tough and wasn't soft off the bone which was a bit disappointing. We really enjoyed their spicy bbq sauce over all the other sauces they had. Had a nice dinner at Smoke Daddy after touring Wrigley Field! This spot is right across the street from the historic ballpark and offers a decent spread of BBQ food. While there were a fair number of options, I was craving nachos, and they did not disappoint. You get to pick your meat on these nacho, even though they come with a sausage chili, you still have the option of chicken, brisket or more sausage. The chili had giant chunks of sausage in it, so they don't skimp, and the brisket was melt in your mouth tender! The serving was massive, far more than I could tackle on my own, but I did my best. They've got a full bar and a good selection of local beers both on tap and in cans. Staff was friendly, and quick to help with anything we needed. With big screen TVs everywhere you look, this is a great spot to watch any game. Added bonus, the tour guide told us by showing our tour tickets at the restaurant we'd also get a discount! Overall, it's a nice spot, and would recommend. read more

Came here after going to the Christkindlmarket st z Gallagher way. Have never been here before and finally tried it. Was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Really great staff as well. The location of this place alone gives it five stars. Get an outdoor seat on the second floor and enjoy the game on the big screen. We aren't big on the pig and the many options were pork meats. We are from out of town and meeting a friend. He had a great experience. The drinks were great and food was phenomenal. The atmosphere is very inviting and well worth the walk from our hotel. I had the Ron's. I cook my own normally and I'm very critical of Morse ribs. These were well seasoned and cooked properly. The sausage was fantastic! It had a snap which made all the Chicago Hot Dogs within a 20 mile radius jealous. Inside was a maximally savory, salty but not over-salted filling. The kind of meat that needs no sauce. Then comes the brisket! A lovely piece of meat that was so tender, looking at it and licking my lips caused the meat to start falling apart. I also loved that it was a good balance of meaty and fatty bits. However, there is a small 'but' here. For my taste, the brisket needed a very light sprinkle of salt. No matter, with the help of the sauces the brisket leveled up enough to take on any boss battle thrown at it. Speaking of sauces: The KC Style and Hawaiian were both good. For dessert, I ordered the Blueberry Handpie. This was so much better than expected! The crust was flaky and wonderful, and the filling had plentiful sweet blueberries. This dish also excelled in its execution. The cast iron pan kept the pie warm, and the ice cream was such that didn't melt right away. I also loved that the blueberries weren't screaming hot and exploding with lava. When it comes to the service, the bar-server was fantastic. She was kind, friendly, and attentive. Food came out pretty fast, too, considering how fresh everything was. Finally, while I did not make laps around the entire establishment, the vibe has just the right intersection between BBQ and Rock & Roll, with the music playing at the perfect volume to be appreciated while being not at all intrusive. Final verdict: There are many who sing the praises of Smoque BBQ, which is a great spot. However, between the two, I prefer Offset. I've been a patron for over 15 years. Even after relocating to Virginia, returning to Chicago twice a year, I dine here at least twice per visit and bring my husband's favorite back each time. Everyone is always smiling, very knowledgeable of the menu and the "Master Bartenders" make the best cocktails. They are extremely knowledgeable of their extensive bourbon collection. Honestly, one would assumed they worked for a distillery. Its so great to see staff help and support one another. In addition, they immediately acknowledge customers when come into the restaurant. The person taking our order seemed to be in a massive hurry, acting short and dismissive with us. To make matters worse, an automatic gratuity was added to the bill. While I understand this is becoming a common industry practice, a gratuity should ultimately be an option based on service. The server did mention at the end that we could have it removed if we wanted to, but customers shouldn't be forced into that awkward position in the first place. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has also gone downhill. I always used to order the ribs and frequently took extra food home because it was so good. Last night, the food left a lot to be desired. The barbecue simply isn't what it once was. When my uncle graduated in the 90s we went to your previous downtown location.He loved the restaurant as well; the food, the exceptional service, and the warm atmosphere. All the more better to savor all intricate dishes from start to finish. Like the name, The Purple Pig, their specialty is pork dishes so majority of our orders were this. Daily special of the bone marrow bacon jam toast - glazed, slippery off the bone, savory and sweet. Always love a good bone marrow dish to get the sweetness off it. This was so good that there were bits of the marrow and jam left stuck to the bone, I took a piece of the toast and scooped the bone dry. Nothing left for anyone to attack this. Non pork dishes were the Mushroom 3 ways and Spanish octopus. Mushroom dish was savory with all the coated sauces elevating this. Spanish octopus was kicked lightly and easily can bite in to enjoy the tender and charred portions. But the award went to my main course - the braised pork shoulder with saffron, apricots and Swiss chard. Aside from the rippable pork meat when dining on it, the sauces fused together on this dish elevated it and had everyone coming back for more. I needed an official Chicago culinary experience and found it at The Purple Pig without a doubt.

Every single part of the meal was outstanding. The pulled pork was delicious on its own, but I also loved the sweet barbecue sauce. The cornbread was, without exaggeration, the best I've ever had!! It was moist, flavorful, and served with absolutely incredible butter. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and one of the best I've ever had as well. Even the sweet tea was perfect: actually sweet without being overpowering or having that bitter, earthy aftertaste that some sweet teas have. I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I came back the next night and tried the brisket. It was sooooo good too. It was tender, smoky, juicy, and packed with flavor. At that point I knew the first meal wasn't a fluke. It's not inexpensive, but the portions are generous, and I felt the quality more than justified the price. I was there by myself because I'm traveling for work and actually enjoyed the communal tables. They made the atmosphere feel welcoming and a little less lonely than sitting by myself. The staff was excellent, too. The gentleman with the glasses at the meat counter was friendly, funny, and made the experience even more enjoyable. He even threw in a complimentary rib, which was such a nice surprise and a great example of the hospitality here. One thing to know before you go: the line can get long, but don't let that scare you away, it moves efficiently, and the food is absolutely worth the wait. I generally don't have an appetite for bbq and wrigleyville to be honest but a friend of mine invited me to check out Smoke Daddy and all I can say is how FANTASTIC it was. From the decor to the service down to the food everything had bite. It's not your typical sports bar... The ambience is cozy and tastefully decorated, the food is so flavorful... from the baked beans to the ribs to the mac and cheese.... so so good. And as far as the drinks are concerned... I'm sober - so I stuck with mocktails, and I can't describe in enough detail how great they were. Carl, our Bartender, offered to "whip us up something delightful" and he fulfilled that and then some. I ended getting his contact so he work a private party for me coming up and 'whip us up' some more of his drinks because friends, they were that good! Big kudos to Carl and Smoke Daddy. Two stars cuz the place is cool. Cool mix of texture, color, and culture. The drink menu is rather small for a bar, and very expensive. Less than sub par beer list, especially for the amount of travelers coming through the area. Yes, I realize it's in Wrigleyfield, but it's still a small drink for a solid $2-3 more than anywhere. Ordered 1/2 smoked chicken, cornbread and Mac & cheese... chicken is very Smokey, but dry. Almost flavorless. The cornbread is also pretty dry. The Mac & cheese is OK. Other dish was a pulled pork sandwich, which, even smothered in sauce, remained flavorless. Had such a huge portion that was burnt (and I mean BLACK, stuck together burnt), that it made up 1/2 the meat of the sandwich Decent fries. Don't even get me started on all of Chicago serving Pepsi!! Smoke Daddy BBQ is a solid, average spot with some highs and lows. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the whiskey selection was impressive. The atmosphere was clean and comfortable, which added to the experience. As for the food, I found it a bit hit or miss. The burnt ends were a little fattier than I prefer, and while the BBQ sauces were above average, they didn't completely make up for the rest. I also ordered the "jalapeño beer cheese" appetizer, which, although tasty, was served cold in a ball like a cheeseball. It wasn't what I expected and felt a bit odd for BBQ fare. All in all, the friendly service, solid drink options, and decent environment kept it from dipping below 3 stars, but the food itself prevented me from rating it any higher. I went here a few weeks ago with about 9 other people and came for the "bottomless brunch". The food was very good but it seemed like the bottomless part of the brunch was intentionally being slow walked. When we ordered our first platter of breakfast they only brought one tray of food for all 10 of us that had maybe 5 pancakes, 3 pieces of bacon 2 sausages and hashbrowns (which were very good) which wasn't enough for the table and had to ask for another. A lot of the items didn't come out together so it was hard to eat all the breakfast items together. My eggs came separately (and were cold) so I ate pancakes while I waited for hot eggs. Over all the food was great, just wish the food had been more plentiful. Would go back again. read more

I recently was in Chicago for my first time and happened across this quaint pub, didn't think much of it just a quick beer and maybe a bite to eat before meeting up with friends. I was welcomed in by friendly establishment folks I now call my new friends in Chicago Daniel and Colleen. I ended up having my friends meet me there again later in my trip. I didnt think much of Chicago upon arriving but after coming here a few times I look forward to returning. Thank you Daniel and Colleen. Very rude waitress, she came over and Instead of being polite, she barked at me, that I was at a reserved table.... I hadn't been approached previously so I thought she would take my drink order but instead spit fire at me and walked away... moments later some meathead beard freak approached saying I had seated myself improperly and that I would have too leave. I let him know that basic customer service would go a long way and he dismissed me, so I left... it's crazy to me how poorly I was treated when no hostess or anyone had approached me to seat me accordingly... Our waitress was absolutely fantastic! Not only was she attentive and quick with everything we needed, but she carried such a warm and positive energy that made the whole experience so much better. She has a natural charm and vibe that makes you feel welcome the second she walks up to the table. We smelled BBQ from down the street and had to stop in and so glad that we did! We got a 1/2 pound of pulled pork and Mac and Cheese and we also got the loaded fries and a burger with coleslaw. Everything was delicious, but I could've eaten a whole plate of the Mac and cheese. Everything came out super quickly and the servers/hosts were super friendly and helpful. We go here often for their brunch! They have really delicious monkey bread, hash browns, and pancakes. They have really good Bloody Mary's with lots of thick meat as a garnish. It's a great location if you want to come for a baseball game and walk around wrigley. Staff is always friendly. read more
