If you love BBQ and meat, this is a great place to go! Feels like a well-run business with attention to detail. We greatly enjoyed the brisket, the Chili and everything we sampled on the Meat-O-Calypse platter. Wonderful BBQ sauces too! Perfect interior too for this kind of food. read more

First time here. Got the brisket sandwich for $15 to go. It came with a nice serving of plain cole slaw made of green and red shredded cabbage and French fries. The meat was too salty and a bit less meat than usually would come on a sandwich like this. The fries were disappointing because they were not at all warm but at least they were not at all salty. I liked the slaw. The toasted bun was inedible. Came in a compostable container with compostable cutlery. I like the purple bottle sauce. read more

Smoke BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Kennebunk, Maine

I was excited to try Smoke BBQ, as my wife and I are from North Carolina, having a local smokehouse joint was awesome! Having lived in both Texas & North Carolina over the past 15 years, I can say confidently that the BBQ from Smoke is legit. The ribs were really fantastic and were competition quality. The sign of a perfect rib is you take a bite and you should see just the bite taken out of the rib -- these were it! I also really enjoyed the creativity of having Pork Belly burnt ends. The sides were also very good. The Mac started to solidify as it cooled but this is a good thing: it means they make it with real cheese and don't water it down with milk or cream! The fries were regally crispy, reminded me a lot of duck fat fries I've had in the past. Why only four stars? Their sauces Their "Smokehouse Original", which is a sweet sticky Kansas City style sauce was on point and the Star of the show. The others? They weren't for me. Their "Texas Tang" was essentially vinegar and chili powder. "Carolina Gold", while technically a mustard sauce, missed the mark again because they seemed to use the same chili powder type seasoning in it (I think they call it "Loose"?). "South of the Border" tasted a little out of place, and "True Grit" was a distant second to "Smokehouse Original" I would love to see the "Texas Tang" transformed into a more Eastern Style North Carolina Vinegar sauce. "Carolina Gold" could be made much more true to a South Carolina mustard BBQ sauce, and perhaps a true Texas BBQ sauce with a little more heat and bite than their "Smokehouse Original". The service and staff were great. Very friendly and attentive wait staff and the food came out pretty quickly. We made use of their outdoor patio, which on a nice day is phenomenal (road noise aside). I'll caution that with good quality BBQ this far north, it comes at a premium. Splitting an app with two mains and just sodas can easily top $80 for two people (after tax+tip). But let's be honest, if you're craving legit BBQ -- price doesn't matter read more

Smoke BBQ - Pork Belly Burnt Ends, 2/3 Rack Ribs, Mac & Cheese, and Fries - Barbeque Near Me - Kennebunk, Maine

Driving through the area and decided to give this place a try and it was absolutely delicious! There were 6 of us and we all tried each others meals... Smash burger, chopped chicken, ribs, links, brisket, burnt ends, coleslaw, mac & cheese, fries, potato au gratin, cornbread and wings, no one had a negative thing to say. So good that the food was gone before we thought to take a few photos. Staff were welcoming. Food came out fast. Bartender was on top of it. Very clean inside and out. Plenty of seating inside and out. Sitting by the fire pit was nice. Differently worth a stop in if you are in the area but I'd even consider a road trip just to eat here!! read more

Best BBQ I've tasted in Maine and excellent service. Ribs and pulled pork were especially great

My husband and I were in Maine for a summer vacation, and my husband was in the mood for barbecue. The staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in. My husband ordered the sampler platter, as he wanted to taste everything. He was not disappointed! The pulled pork melted in our mouths, the ribs were meaty, and the chili was AMAZING! The choices of sauces offered on each table is unbelievable and each one was unique, and delicious. We were happy we stopped by and would highly recommend you do the same if you enjoy a good quality barbecue meal! read more

The BBQ tasted amazing. Great experience and the location is convenient. Building interior is super cool and very Maine "camp like." I had the burnt tips and ribs which were both super tasty. read more

Great staff and excellent moist BBQ. We had ribs, brisket and the kids BBQ tray. It was all very good!

My husband and I moved here a year ago and decided to stop at Smoke after a beach walk. We were treated with smiles and comfort at the bar immediately. Jackie took great care of us and we shared lots of laughs. We couldn't have been happier with the food. I'm obsessed with wings and was blown away by them. We've been back so many times and have tried almost everything on the menu. You won't be disappointed if you stop here. Great food and customer service. It's a win/win! Also, so fun to enjoy a drink out front by the fire pit! read more

Sneaky tip added Last minute decision to stop in while driving through town. We Love BBQ. The food was good, service was good/friendly and the atmosphere was good as well. A bit pricy but eating out is now a days. One sandwich 2 beers and a 20 percent came to over $40. The only thing that annoyed me was that after paying and then looking over the receipt I noticed there is 3% added for the kitchen staff...This only came to just over a buck for our order but I didn't see this mentioned anywhere prior to ordering. I still would have ordered but I felt it was sneaky and I may have taken that 3% into consideration when add my tip read more

First visit and possibly the last. I asked what the 3.25% gratuity that was added to my check (3 dinners). I was told it was a % given to the Cooks as a fare wage. The owner then came over amd was quite rude. Instead of agreeing to disagree he argued his point saying to me (customer) that I did not want to see his employees make a farewage. My reply your wages to your employees are yours, not the customers. I adjusted my tip according with the 3.25%. The owner checked how much of a tip we give and made comment while he argued a gratitude added without option to opt put. Asked what we thought of the food and I was honest 2 of us did not like the beans and thought they be doctored from a can. The Chilli was extremely spicy. My husband likes spicy and was not able to eat it. The star rating would have been higher, but an owner arguing with a customer, turn off read more

We've eaten-in and ordered takeout at Smoke several times in the past year, and we've never been disappointed. The ribs are great, the cornbread is tasty, the brisket is tender and fkavorful, as is the pulled pork and the burnt ends. The fries are thin hand cut, delicious. The prices, are reasonable. Takeout is fast and accurate. The atmosphere, inside and out is neighborhood friendly. A great place, and long overdue in this area (barbecue). read more

The food was excellent and the service and and experience were excellent. I ordered for a Graduation Party and the kids loved it.

I ordered the 3 meat trio, which was pretty good. The ribs were tender. The pulled pork was flavorful and well cooked. The brisket was a bit dry. The macaroni was good and the corn bread was delicious. Was it worth the money though? Maybe, maybe not. The meal would've been better if it was $10-$15 cheaper. The downside was no veteran discounts and no one seemed to be in management. Youthful employees never seem to know what should be or not. Would l return - Yes, but showing appreciation for being a Vet goes a long way when l consider where l want to eat. read more

Smoke BBQ - Working on the meat lol - Barbeque Near Me - Kennebunk, Maine

Went with hubby and friends. The place is nothing fancy but the food was excellent and there was plenty of it. There were families with young kids seemingly enjoying their food and adults enjoying theirs as well. read more

So the set up was a bit different for what a normal dining experience might be. You walk in and order right at the front desk, if there is no wait. Drinks, apps, and food right there at the counter. If you ordered alcohol, the bartender will bring it to the table. The food came out with in minutes and I mean minutes. Actually to be completely honest, it was mostly cold. The food was still very good, but would've been better had it been warm immediately upon arrival. Since it's a new place, I'm sure they're still working out all the kinks and intend to try again very soon. It did give the impression that it was probably just a warming line set up, with hot tins of food. Like I said the food was still very very good. They did a great job with the inside and the atmosphere is actually pretty neat. All in all it was a great experience and just hoping the next trip will be have piping hot food! read more

Stopped by for the first time today. Oh yes, we will be back! That was the best BBQ we have ever had. Everything tasted great. The brisket was moist which it usually isn't at other places. Place is very comfortable and no issues with the Service. read more

Smoke BBQ - The is the Smokasbord and gives you a sampler for 2 or 3 people. It was so good the two of us finished it. - Barbeque Near Me - Kennebunk, Maine

The brisket was really dry and the mac and cheese had little to no flavor whatsoever. Their cornbread was crazy good though, and the service was good, although I don't care for their ordering at the counter method. Nice little firepit outside as well, so that adds to ambiance. read more

Brisket, chopped chicken, beans, potato, all good! I'd happily go back two nights in a row!

Went down tonight with a few friends...met the owner out back showed me the smoker gave me a burnt end....best bbq ever been let down so many times before. If you like bbq get there... read more

overpriced. small portions. slow service. Disappointing experience all around. Food was good.

Saw this place online and had to try it . Loved the atmosphere . The guy at the counter was very friendly . There's a full bar too . They had a barbecue smoker going in the parking lot . I got the 3 meat combo . My wife got the 2 meat combo . The wings for an appetizer were perfect , crispy outside and delicious inside . My ribs , pulled pork and brisket were just excellent ! They had different sauces to put on the barbecue and ideas for which sauces went best with the meats . The fries were delicious too. My wife loved her potatoes Au Gratin along with her combo meal . I had high expectations for this place and they exceeded them . We cant wait to go back . read more

Smoke BBQ - 3 meat combo - Barbeque Near Me - Kennebunk, Maine

I hope it's just growing pains, because I really do want this place to succeed. But... this weird 3% tip added to the bill to "pay the kitchen staff" has to go. Customers aren't responsible for paying your staff, and are you able to document that this is where it goes? Comes off as quite sketchy. Got the burnt ends. Not very smokey, and not much is given for what they charge. Potatoes Au gratin were disgusting. read more

4+ stars - food was nicely done and they offered a nice variety of sides and bbq sauces. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice bar and a cool smokehouse/rustic New England decor. Can dine indoors or outdoors and they have a nice fire pit. The only potential downside is that you have to order at a counter and take a number to your table where the food and drinks are delivered. read more

Smoke BBQ - people sitting at the bar - Barbeque Near Me - Kennebunk, Maine

What a find! Been to Blacks and Franklin in Austin several times, and Smoke holds up. Brisket was tender, flavorful, and perfectly portioned. Also had the chopped chicken, which wasn't drowning in sauce and not at all dry. Sides of au gratin, beans, and cornbread where a great compliment. Counter ordering was super easy and the food came out fast and hot. The 6 different sauces, with the descriptions, on the table was a nice touch. Service was fantastic. Can't wait to go back. read more

Finally a respectable bbq place in Maine. Something other than seafood is a welcomed addition to the area.

Located across the street from our hotel destination after 6 hours on the road made it an easy decision for gluten free options(nothing listed GF nor did we ask).Food quality above average, well executed. Sauces in colored bottles a brilliant idea. Service was quick and attentive. Outdoor dining was more than adequate. Half BBQ chicken skin would benefit from more flavorful skin. Overall I would have preferred more flavor from smoke/bark on the brisket, which was moist and tender. read more

Easily the best BBQ I've ever had from a BBQ restaurant. We took a second order to-go, as well as a few sauces. Jackie who was working the bar was a gem! A cozy interior with comfortable seating and large tables, as well as a cozy fire pits outside. If we lived closer, we'd be in all the time! read more

The service was great! the food came out fast! it was tasty got the pulled pork sandwich and my grandma got the ribs and they were good but just too salty. The ambiance was peaceful with the fireplace and had all the great sauces and utensils at the table! The Boston beans were also amazing! read more

This little unassuming spot away from the downtown area packed a big punch. We stopped in originally for a quick drink, the smell of the entire establishment was so persuading we went back for dinner. This little BBQ joint did not disappoint! We ordered the smokesborg and burnt ends app, to try to have the best chance to trial the most amount of food. Everything was cooked to perfection, the sides were even amazing (we had Mac and cheese and cornbread) they paid attention to every detail. Our only problem now is picking a good time to head back for wings, smash burger and bloody Mary's! read more

New barbecue place in Kennebunk. Interesting premise. It's a little awkward with the way they do the seating and ordering, but service is fast. When you arrive you put your name in (if there is a wait) and they will seat you when seating is available. Once seated you'll be given a menu - but then you are ready to order you to up to the front register where they'll take your order and open a tab with your credit card. They give you a table number sign to take back with you. Waitstaff will bring any drinks you ordered and will drop off your food. They will check back to see if you want more drinks (although the second time we went, service was scarce). Food: overall very good. Brisket is excellent. Chicken and pork both strong. We enjoyed the corn bread (- a little sweet) and the fries are solid. We did NOT like the potato au gratin - gross - replace with mac and cheese. Cole slaw was good - creamy but not too creamy. Beans were solid. We will definitely be regulars here. read more

We love Smoke. Delicious food and fun atmosphere. Excellent beer selections and full bar. Great service. Owner, Josh, is very welcoming.

Fantastic addition to the Kennebunks food scene. All of the food is great. But I have to shout out the wings as the absolute best I have ever had...amazing! Service is also stellar. A great all around experience you have to put on your list. read more

Food was ok, beans were very mushy like the had been reheated a number of times, the brisket was dry. The ordering system for food is confusing, and you have to stand around waiting for a table, very loud. 3% tip added to the bill for the kitchen ???? Pricey and so so food read more

I can only comment on the cocktails, cornbread, and wings. A perfect drink was prepared by Mark, the very pleasant bartender. The cornbread was absolutely delicious. The wings were quite good without any sauce. We enjoyed sitting at the bar. We will go back to try other things. read more

Price is on the high side for the amount of food you get. Sides are small. Food was cold Mac n cheese was like glue. Meat is tasty! But they need to work on their portions & sides could bet a great place but they are still new I guess. Very chaotic to order! Very loud & crowded but it's a small venue. Probably will try once again maybe but wont be my first pick to dine out! read more
