Went there Thursday evening around 430 after work to one lady ahead of me, a bunch of phone calls, and performing smog checks - all attended by just one person. If not for that, I would have been in and out in 10 min tops. NOTE - any smog place you go to, the certification and electronic transmission fee isn't covered/advertised. So expect to pay more. Smog check - $23 (they accepted Groupon which is slightly cheaper than the Yelp checkin) Certification - $8.25 Electronic trasmisssion fee - $5 Total = $36.25 Conveniently paid with Android pay and off, I went, feeling like a champ. read more

The first technician I saw was good and reasonable. The truck passed, except there was an error code that needed to be fixed. My mechanic fixed it. So I returned for the retest and this different technician was competent when it came to particulars, details, stickers, but did not know the actual function of the parts he was testing. I explained how his evaluation was in error, but he didn't care about what the parts ( new fuel pump) did, only that there was no sticker that made it OK. Come to find out the number he was looking for was right on the fuel pump, but he didn't know or care enough to look. I brought back a print out from the California Air Resources Board, showing that the fuel pump was approved. He said it didn't matter, he needed to see the sticker. Called the manufacturer of the fuel pump and they told me to have him look at the fuel pump. The number was on the pump itself. I went back and showed him where it was and he then tested it for a third time and gave me a pass. 2 trips, Information from another smog tester, several calls to my mechanic and the manufacturer of the fuel pump, and several hours of gathering information and advice, I was able to convince this technician to pass my truck. It shouldn't be this hard and every other mechanic and technician I talked to said this technician was just being unreasonable. He needs to learn more and understand what he is looking at. I will never go back to this establishment again. Too much rigid, ignorant, unhelpful attitude. read more

I told him I had seen a Groupon offer for $33.15 and asked him if that was the correct price. He then rudely said he can only do $39. I then told him that it appeared he didn't want to work and if I should take my business elsewhere. He then rudely said its up to you without any apology or concern for my business. First time coming here for a smog check! Called in on and Tuesday afternoon and asked if an appointment was needed. Was told it wasn't so I went over asap and there was only one other person in front of me. Man in the front was really nice and got everything I needed quickly. Was in and out very quickly. There is also a small waiting room area in the inside which is nice as some places have you wait outside. The location is also really convenient for me. It's sort of hidden amongst the busy streets and other businesses, but still not too hard to find. Parking lot is small but still always has open spots. Also the coupon and deal they have is a huge plus! Will definitely come back next year and would recommend this place to others I know. read more

As simple as a smog check may seem, there's a reason why there are so many of them...we like to drive cars in America. So there are a lot of choices when it comes to getting your vehicle smog checked. I needed somewhere close to The District where I was running way too many errands today. Smog Time was closest to Whole Foods, and had some solid looking reviews. Upon driving into the easy to find parking lot (with plenty of open parking spots) I found one lady finishing up a smog check on her vehicle (also a late model black BMW beauty, like my Saddie). I was looking forward to using the $5 off coupon from Yelp for checking in, and J.C. offered me a better coupon at 20% off, equaling about $12. How could I resist? They also keep this five star review for having an accessible bathroom in their space (not having to walk around a corner or down a hall etc is nice), and for being super polite and professional from the beginning. The lobby was incredibly clean for what you are used to seeing at a mechanic shop/auto shop type place. I can tell the floors were recently redone. I also liked the license plates they hung below the counter. Cute! It took less than 20 minutes from when I drove up to when I drove out. Smog certification done! I didn't know it would not pass with the check engine light on. Why did he hook it up knowing that? To get $27? The car passed all emissions but that light failed it; n because of the fail flagging the car, I had to get a dealer parts only catalytic converter for 2K, rather than after market $800; My perfect gorgeous Honda Accord with 200K miles running like a champ and I sold it for 2K to avoid the 2K expense of repairs and bc was so traumatized by the idea of this kind of sneaky smog every year n bs dealer parts requirements on a non polluting car :( again, why plug it in if you know it's going to fail? I would have paid him 27$ even $100 not to have screwed me so badly; the dealer parts thing is not helping Smog Times profits, why help dealer over people on a budget? read more

Recently came here a few weeks back to get a smog check for my sweet ride. It was kind of hard to find because there isn't like a huge sign that shows you where to go. Its in like an industrial circle. Also you have to pull into a random driveway to find where it is. I cant remember if there were street signs showing where to go though. Anyways got here with one person ahead of me. And from signing the papers to when I got back into my car, the whole process took about 30 min. They have a very nice receptionist and Ill be back here if I have to get another smog check. Quick service and water and magazines to look at if you want. They wirelessly send your smog check papers to the DMV and the whole thing probably cost i think 70+ dollars without the coupons. Pretty pricey, but I know you can priont a $10 off coupon on their website or if you have the time to search I found a $15 dollar off.
