Stopped by for a walk-in smog check with no appointment needed and was helped immediately. The staff was super friendly, and the technician had me in and out in under 30 minutes. On top of having the best smog check prices in Orange County, they even handed me a few extra coupons for various car services on my way out. Excellent service and I'm very pleased. I highly recommend auto check center for all your car repair and smog check needs! read more

Auto Check Center - Auto Repair Near Me - Irvine, California

I would give this place another chance. This specific instance was 4.5 stars for a smog check. Since they also do many other services, I cannot say what those experiences would be. I have had enough negative experiences from many difference auto centers / mechanics to not give the benefit of the doubt to them. I came here for the first time for a DMV requested smog check. Positives: - price - no upselling - passed Negative: - They estimated 30 minutes. It took about 50 minutes to see my car disappear from the lot. Then another 45 minutes for them to complete. Probably should be more than half star but I haven't been to a mechanic that estimated higher than the actual work. If you want a smog check, this place seems legit. I'll give this place more stars if the consistency continues. read more

Came here for a smog check. Affordable, communicative, and it was a quick in and out. I didn't make an appointment but it still only took an hour. Good service. read more

Monsouir greeted me as I walked in and he was very kind and sweet. I arrived at 8a when they opened and he told me it would be about 10 minutes before they got started. He invited me to write my information down and relax on the outside patio while I waited. He even made a fresh brew of coffee that was so good! It turned out to be a nice pick-me-up and energy booster for my day! He took care of me in 30 minutes flat, my Smog Check passed inspection and Auto Check Center just found them a new regular!! Me! Haha God bless and thank you, Monsouir!! See ya next time! read more

Took my car in to get smogged for the first time and this place is great! Mohammed was very nice, helpful and their prices are good! All of the employees were respectful and helpful to the customers and you can tell they run a great business overall. If you need your car smogged, or need other maintenance work done here, try Auto Check Center! read more

I had two cars smogged here today, and everything went smoothly. I worked with Mr. Mansur, who was pleasant and professional. I have another car that needs to be smogged, and I plan to bring it in tomorrow. There can be a bit of a wait at times, but that is understandable because they are busy, which is a good sign. No matter where you go, there is likely to be some wait anyway. As the famous saying goes, "Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet." I also used coupons, and they honored them with no questions asked. I will definitely be back soon. read more

I've my car smoke checked done and was very happy with their price & a service attitude. Though I did not have any other auto services there, I will go there for my car service if needed. Will go from there on..... Hope auto check service place will be my service place in the future.! read more

No appointment was needed, since their smog check service operates on a first come, first served basis. Even though I arrived about 30 minutes after their opening, Auto Check Center was already quite busy. Mansour was incredibly friendly and welcoming. While I waited, he introduced me to two of his regular customers in the waiting area, who turned out to be from my hometown. That made the experience feel even more comfortable. The inspection took about an hour, but time passed quickly, thanks to the pleasant conversations with other customers in their cozy outdoor waiting area. Their smog check promo is a better deal than what many other shops offer. Some of the negative reviews about pricing seem to come from customers who might not have read the fine print carefully. Pricing varies depending on the vehicle, with the lowest rate applying to cars from certain model years. They accept both cash and credit cards, provided a detailed printed report and submitted everything to the DMV. I was able to complete my vehicle registration online after getting my car back. Overall, I had a great experience getting my car's first smog check done at Auto Check Center. Mansour has definitely earned a repeat customer! read more

I needed to get a smog check done for my sedan and was quoted $28.75 plus $8.25 (for a total of $37) over the phone. No appointment was needed. When I arrived at the shop, I realized it was the same place I came to for a smog check two years ago! I was in and out in about 45 minutes. The process was quick and hassle free. There were seats inside the shop as well as a tented patio area with seating right outside. I think they have some of the best prices for a smog check in the area. I bookmarked them so that I don't forget for next time! read more

Moved from Maryland to California, and came here to do a last minute smog check before I headed off to South Korea the next day. They were able to accommodate my walk-in and serviced me within 30 minutes and provided the paperwork to take back to the DMV. Cheap smog check! They also provided coupons for my next visit. read more

I've gotten my smog checks and brakes work done here and have been at this location 3 or 4 times now. The personnel is very friendly. They always accept my work request without appointment; 9bviously I don't show up last minute. Prices are reasonable and they also have coupons both online as well as in the shop. I love the outside patio/pergola sitting area where it's shady and breezy. I would highly recommend this business. Very nice people and good service. read more

Busy place but the service (Smog Check) was completed in timely manner. Total time in and out including check in was around 50 min. For Smog Check service, it was around 30 min. I had no appointment, but took my car in for a smog test. They were friendly, efficient and quick! I was third in line and it took under 30 minutes! Their price was lower than any shop in Laguna Hills area that I could find. I'm very satisfied and will have family and friends go there. read more

*Heads up* Took my car in today for a smog check and they no longer honor the $28 coupon!!! Total cost was about $78 ... $69 for service and $9 for the smog certificate. Service was fast, but don't expect it to be cheap. read more

Auto Check Center is convenient and helpful. I started visiting for regular smog checks. One day I had a coolant reservoir problem, and towed my car to the shop instead of dealership maintenance. It was quickly recovered. They took care of an oil change this time, too. read more

Have been coming here for over the last 7-8 years. Honest and very reasonably priced service every time. Highly recommend.

Friendly, fast, and efficient staff! Received a reasonable quote for a passenger side motor mount and had the replacement completed within the hour (I came by on a Tuesday afternoon for reference!). General parking was also not too challenging in this parking lot unlike some of the other auto body shops that I've been to in this area as well. Would highly recommend! read more

Got my smog test done from here and the guys are real professional and friendly so no worries

Excellent service these guys are a group of professionals which make it very easy to work with they are upfront and no hidden charges at all, Highly recommended Thanks for the amazing service read more

This place is a joke. They will do anything just to charge you. I went to this spot without checking OBD2 and they charged me just to say that my car was not ready. Next time when I returned to them when all sensors were ready they said that I should drive more because I had pending codes. The main thing that I went to a different smog check station and I was told that I do have a big leak of gasoline on the engine. Auto check Center guys didn't tell me anything at all even they were offering to repair catalyst converter on my car. Bottom line if you want to get ripped off this is a place to go. read more

I called in for a quote for a smog check and provided the year and make of my car and they said it would be $38 which included the certification. I had my boyfriend taking my car the next day and he told me they charge $70. This is very misleading and dishonest! Then I went directly to the website and saw that they had that price offered only if you printed the coupon that was not explained to me when I called over the phone nor did I know there was a coupon that existed. I just simply asked what the quote was for my make and model and they gave me the coupon price but then charged me full. In addition, they were trying to upsell us on changing my brake pads when I just recently went to a mechanic and had my brake pads checked, and they definitely don't need to be changed at this time. Never going back! read more

I have switched between shops and this is going to be my shop. They know their game and found an issue in my car that my previous mechanic denied to exist. My car doesn't make a weird noises and I know if it does they'll take care of it. I haven't seen any surprise cost and their coat is quite reasonable. They are within walking distance of a Starbucks so I don't mind their walk in only policy. read more

Great value for smog check and straightforward, quick process! Would return for other services in the future

UPDATE UPDATE I recently traded my previous vehicle in for a newer one, a 2020 Subaru Forester. After getting all the paperwork done I immediately took my car over to Mohammed and Monsoor to have the 60k servicing done. I was so happy that I did!! They found several items that were in need of service even though the paperwork from CarMax had assessed the vehicle in "excellent" condition. My car needed new brakes and a front set of rotors! I also had a few minor things with the oil filter etc. Once again the team at Auto Check Center did amazing work on my vehicle in a timely manner and charged an incredibly fair price for their service. I cannot say enough good things about the guys here and their family of technicians. It's exactly the reason why I continue to bring my vehicles here, and why I will always bring my cars here. The weekend can get busy here as with most solid repair shops. I highly recommend bringing your car in early on a weekday, like Tuesday-Thursday for minimal exposure to lots of people and longer wait times. read more

Best smog check center around. I've been coming here for years. Owners are great people, always recommend.

This review is specially for the smog check. I came by after lunch for a walk-in smog check and there was several people in the waiting area and in line so it looked like it would not be a quick in and out. The owner said it would take an hour or so due to the volume which was okay so I decided to wait. It took just a little over an hour, which was fine. As a reference, I've gone to several other smog check places that are dedicated to smog checks (that's all they do) and it has typically taken 20 minutes or less. However, those places seems to charge $10-20 more so that's one trade off. One thing that I noticed with some of those other places is they do not re-test for free, if you fail the test, here they will re-test if they service the vehicle to help you pass. It was nice weather out on the particular day we came so the outdoor waiting area was very comfortable to sit out if need to wait for a few hours, an indoor waiting area is also available but not very spacious. There's also free Wi-Fi so you can connect your laptop or iPad while you're waiting. There are coupons that you can find in your mail or also online, on their website, so you'll want to check first before coming. I may consider them in the future for other service. read more
