This review is specially for the smog check. I came by after lunch for a walk-in smog check and there was several people in the waiting area and in line so it looked like it would not be a quick in and out. The owner said it would take an hour or so due to the volume which was okay so I decided to wait. It took just a little over an hour, which was fine. As a reference, I've gone to several other smog check places that are dedicated to smog checks (that's all they do) and it has typically taken 20 minutes or less. However, those places seems to charge $10-20 more so that's one trade off. One thing that I noticed with some of those other places is they do not re-test for free, if you fail the test, here they will re-test if they service the vehicle to help you pass. It was nice weather out on the particular day we came so the outdoor waiting area was very comfortable to sit out if need to wait for a few hours, an indoor waiting area is also available but not very spacious. There's also free Wi-Fi so you can connect your laptop or iPad while you're waiting. There are coupons that you can find in your mail or also online, on their website, so you'll want to check first before coming. I may consider them in the future for other service. read more

Excellent service from start to finish! The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. They made the whole process smooth and stress-free, and I appreciated how transparent they were about everything. The quality of work exceeded my expectations, and the turnaround time was quick. It's not easy to find a place you can trust, but this is definitely one of them. Highly recommended! read more

NO frills....just plain smog and done....honored coupon....no problem...AMAZING PLACE...will be back

I just had the worst experience dealing with another smog check station that was straight scam artist. Auto Star Smog Check & Repair in Lake Forest, CA did me wrong by falsifying prices and I was already out $60 when the check should have been closer to $35. Then I find this place. A coupon that reads $28.75 + $8.75 for most cars. I get skeptical again and do some research. The owners have kept the same price for decades and I was not able to find a better price for smog check (STAR certified) anywhere. I walked in, had a lovely chat with the two gentlemen in the front, paid $37, and left within 15 minutes. The place is friendly, transparent, fast, and affordable. Definitely coming back here and telling everyone about this place. read more

Nice place to get a Smog Check. The service had a good price and was done fast. It was a bit hectic as you cannot make appointments but encourage you to come in but had to wait as there was about two people ahead of me. Cashier/Owner gave me some coupons for future services coming up which he gave me notes for in my receipt. Give them a try, don't know if I would try the coffee machine in the office. read more

Their charge for a smog check is fairly reasonable. However, their work was super inefficient. The mechanic that was assigned to work on my vehicle was barely able to move due to age (with due respect). My car was hooked to the machine, and the process just didn't start for roughly 20 minutes. When I followed up on a time estimate, he almost shouted at me. Very unfriendly. It felt like that I owed him a million. When the work was done, he even didn't bother to back my car out of the bay. Very unprofessional. I saw him even use my personal hygiene products in the car. Very unethical. Not a pleasant experience. In summary, very unfriendly, very unprofessional, very unethical! read more

The auto check center is an exceptional repair shop that deserves a five-star rating. their professional service, expertise, and efficiency make them stand out in the industry. I highly recommend them for any automotive needs. read more

They smeared grease and brake dust all over the side of my suv; then denied what I witnessed them do. They further lied about it! because it looked really bad like a dent! I asked them to clean it up they wouldn't...! saying "I was no where near your car" Liar -- you're dirty fingerprints are still on it! Finaly "Luis" a younger guy helper came forward with a micro-fiber cloth and cleaning fluid to help. I think he witnessed the whole thing as well and wanted to do the right thing and make good on it for the shop. Luis 5 stars! on balance NEVER GO HERE! They don't care about you, their work or your vehicle... read more

Needed a smog check for my car and found this place online. Best pricing around Irvine area. No appointment needed and first come first serve. Went in yesterday and the whole process took about 30-40 minutes. Fast and easy. Recommended for anyone who needs a smog check in OC. read more

Good price, great service, and honest people. Have been coming for 20 years with 7 cars (Lexus, 3 Hondas, 2 Toyotas, and a Subaru). Always good work, sometimes better than dealers and way better value. read more

I've only had smog certifications done here, but they've been relatively fast and a good value (get the coupon from their website). Today I had my pick-up smogged in under 45 minutes while I waited, for $47 out the door (including the certificate). Note the the type of vehicle and its age affect the cost; e.g., trucks cost more than cars, and pre-2000 vehicles cost more. There are chairs inside, but I don't expect much of an environment if you wait. I go out the covered patio area and read. After the smog test, I was asked if I'd had my spark plugs changed before (expected every 30K for my vehicle per the manual), and fortunately I had my service history handy (I keep a spreadsheet), and the answer was "yes". My advice to anyone getting their car serviced is to have your records ready so you don't get a redundant service. read more

Went in without an appointment for a SMOG check and they were able to see me immediately. However, I do recommend getting an appointment. Their customer service was friendly and entertaining as well and I highly recommend them! read more

Went here for a smog check. After the car passed, I was called over and told my rear brakes were down to 15% and I should replace the pads right away. The guy said he'd give me a discount if I did the work right then but the discount would not apply if I came back later. Mind you they never removed either of the rear tires to do a thorough inspection. I passed on having the work done and brought the car to my trusted mechanic. I have 50% left on the pads!!! Don't trust anything these guys tell you!! read more

I called Auto Check Center today because they are close to my business and I needed to get one of my Company vehicles smog checked for registration renewal. They answered the phone promptly, answered my questions, and when I asked to make an appointment, he said, "First-come, first served and right now would be a good time to bring the car over," so I did. The paperwork was quick and easy, the price had been previously quoted, I asked how long and he said about 30 minutes. I walked back to my office and about 20 minutes later I got the call that my car was ready to pick up. No surprises, just good and quick service! They sent the Smog check to the DMV electronically and provided me with a copy for my records. This just couldn't have been easier. Even if they weren't so close to me I would definitely drive farther because this was such a good experience! Highly recommend! read more

Amazing customer care! while I was thrilled with their friendliness and professionalism in serving my car, I was blown away by the compassion they showed to a customer who received unpleasant news about their vehicle. read more

I came here for a smog check and when I got back car back they told me my smog check failed. They were trying to upsell me on maintenance service even though my car had just been serviced 2 days prior and is perfectly fine. They told me they could fix my car and then I would have to pay for a second smog check. Immediately left and went to another place and sure enough, it passed. Don't come here alone if you're a woman. Felt completely taken advantage of. read more

Great communication and service, kind older gentlemen working at this store. Be kind and support your local businesses that have been in business for a long time! That is always a great sign, it is so hard to run a business. Some of us would die early from the stress! I got some repairs here in order to pass my SMOG test. Car is old; it happens. They will tell you accurate time frames, jot down notes for you, and take care of you. Thank you, all! Happy to support read more

Went in for a smog check and ended up being charged over 600.00 dollars for services I didn't approve of. This is the worse unprofessional establishment I've ever done business with. Would definitely not recommend. My rating is a 0 although I had to rate at least one star. read more

I dropped in without an appointment for a smog inspection and certificate. The man (owner?) who greeted me was friendly and his quote (for price and time) was as promised. This is a relatively small, independent business, and you can tell that they care about their customers. I had a coupon from their website, and it was accepted without issue. There is not much around except other car service businesses and dealerships. If you don't feel like exploring then you can relax at their covered patio. I would definitely recommend this business for any car service they provide. read more

I wouldn't recommend this smog center. The technician/front desk person tried to foist an unneeded repair by failing the car for visual inspection. The offending item was epoxy on the air intake supplemental hose to secure the clamp. It is funny that they would mark as "Not applicable" for the air injection system visual category but would fail in the "Other emissions related components". It gets even curious. The epoxy fix was done four years back. This center passed my car in 2022 but with a different technician. The car also passed smog in 2020 at a different center. I had been using this center for the last ten years. It is time to move on. I have filed a complaint with BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) and will be doing so at BBB. Update: Got the smog test done through the BAR referee program and passed. Just paid the certification fee. read more
