I brought my 2012 Honda in for a smog, but upon initial inspection, the owner pointed out a few cracks in the air intake hose and suggested I get that fixed first, as it would likely not pass inspection. So I ordered the $15 part on Amazon, swapped out the old one (not too difficult to do yourself - just find a YouTube video for your car), then I returned a few weeks later and had my smog test done. The owner is kind, helpful, chill, and I was in and out with a passing smog inspection in about 10 minutes. Smog Spot is a small, owner-operated smog check shop tucked away in a little business complex in Lake Forest. I found it because it was one of the only places open on Sunday, and I'm glad I did, as it turned out to be a diamond in the rough. I brought my older Honda Civic in for a smog check. The price was very reasonable and the whole experience was hassle-free. They've got a nice little waiting room set up, and the owner offered me a water while I waited, which was a nice touch. You can tell he cares about how he runs the place. My car didn't pass on the first try, but the owner took the time to point out that part of my intake needed to be replaced instead of just handing me a fail and sending me on my way. All I have to say is wow! I've been to plenty of smoke shops, and this one has to be the cleanest. I love the interior. It was very welcoming. The couch was clean. The lobby smelled nice, and I liked the big, huge TV. The customer service is fantastic. Sean offered you water or a drink. He takes care of your car and the paperwork. Came by and had one of the best experiences, as far as a failing smog check could go! I came here on a Wednesday, ready to pass my smog check to renew my car's registration. I sought a quote from the yelp page, and they responded to me within 20 minutes! Fantastic! I was able to come in, and be seen very quickly. Unfortunately, my vehicle did not pass. Not to fret, I was not charged a dime, and the gentleman at the counter even told me exactly what I needed to pass my smog check! It was a ripped intake hose! After having ordered the part, going through the grueling install process, and driving back on a Saturday, I met the same gentleman (regrettably, I didn't get his name), and we ran it back! This time, I passed! Good to go, and spirits high, I paid the extremely reasonable fee, and sped home! I gotta recommend this place to anyone who's in need of a smog check! Needed to get my Subaru smog checked and found this place. By far cleanest auto place I've visited. Front area and waiting room was comfortable and the floor of the vehicle area is unique and spotless. When I walked in the owner greeted me promptly and offered me water while waiting. He took the car to the back and finished within 10 minutes. Excellent place and will be taking my truck here when it's time. Only tricky thing is the location. You can park in front of the audio store or take the alley down to the back. He does have flags up at Del Lago so you can see the building. read more
