my car stopped on the freeway, smoke was coming out from my hood, the radio & the lights turning off/on. Only to find out that the lady who did my smog didn't put the rod that holds the hood up, back where it belongs. It was forcibly closed which caused the terminal to spark & erode. now my alternator is dead, & hoping my car will turn on in the morning and it caused me a bit of trauma from being stuck in the middle of the freeway at night. I called in 15 minutes before I arrived to see what the wait was like. I was told they don't do that - "just come in". He asked the type of car I had and gave me an estimate over the phone. Seemed a bit rude but once I arrived I understood. There were 3 other cars before me. It can be difficult to judge how long it will take each car to be completed since not all pass. I was done in about an hour. Bill was very kind - music was lovely old school instrumental - waiting room was decent - all in all, a great value! I highly recommend Smog Express! read more

I love that this is a "mom and pop" business and I get to support my new community. I am new to the area and I'm so happy to have found Smog Express. They have all the necessary things to make you feel welcomed and valued here. I took my Lexus in to for a smog test and I have to say this was one of the best experiences I've had in getting my vehicle serviced. Lina and Bill we're so friendly and accommodating through out the entire process. They were extremely busy and I didn't have an appt but I was in and out in less than an hr. They had ample amounts of books and magazines to look through in their waiting area and offered me a water, which was greatly appreciated. I really can't speak highly enough of how wonderful Lina and Bill are. 5/5 I would rate even higher if I could. This mom and pop smog express location is the best. I've come here now several times and I've recommend other friends and family to come too. Both owners are so kind and very helpful. This guy is cheap miser and a crook and he has a form of dementia. First he didn't honor the $25 Smogtips coupon because the car is a Mercedes. He said $45 if I pay cash or $50 cc. That's illegal according to the cc merchant agreement. Then he fails me for a bad air intake hose. He should have told me to get the hose fixed and come back before he ran the smog check. He knew the hose was bad because engine visual is first. He charges me $30 for the failed test. I get the hose replaced and go back but I didn't bring the renewal from the dmv again because I thought everything would be in the system. I brought his original paperwork though. He charged me an extra $3 because I didn't bring in the dmv paperwork. He said he'd rather be relaxing in a hammock instead of keying in my data. He needs to close his shop and move to assisted living. read more

I took my 90 year old mother's car to get a smog check and when Bill, the owner found out he gave me a $15 coupon to use at this visit and to keep for a future visit. I did not have an appointment and there were several cars waiting but Bill and his wife run a very organized and efficient operation. They have a nice waiting area so the time flew by. The owner can't handle the volume of work, he was rude to me telling me to hurry up and park in the middle of the lane behind cars that were already blocking his entrance, and he called other people dicks. I was extremely disappointed in this business today. I arrived for a smog test with my coupon in hand; I have used this business in the past with the very same car, and everything always went well. My car meets all the requirements on the coupon and I had cash, but for some reason, the woman stated that my car would not qualify and I had to be charged $45 base price without the added $8.25 smog certificate fee. I mentioned the fact that they had served me many times in the past without the markup. She pointed out the "most cars" clause on the coupon. No other explanation was offered. I drove to a competing business I have also used in the past for different vehicles, and they honored their coupon with no questions asked. Mind you, she had to wait quite a while because there was a line of a cars on a Saturday midday. So they must be doing something right for her to not even care about the wait. Bill is a Fraud & Scam Artist! give him 5 stars for that! Said price was $25.95 + $8.25 for certificate. On arrival: "wait in line one hour; price is $48.00 cash, more if CC...!" He proceeds to insult me the customer and throws a tantrum, a routine him and his wife have perfected as many on lookers laugh having seen this as the line grows for each customer on the day. What happened to posting the real price; Proposal & Acceptance? Bill writes nothing down on purpose and then lies about it because it is what he said not what you heard... He needs to be Prosecuted, Fined and Jailed! I left in disgust got it done in Irvine for less and no wait. read more

The husband and wife owners are friendly but somehow think nothing of having customers wait literally for hours. I checked in just past noon on a Saturday but no one mentioned that I'd be waiting nearly three hours. After 90 minutes I asked what's happening and was told it'd be about 45 minutes. It was closer to an hour. At one point the man picked up a phone call and said he couldn't talk because he was busy. He said he'd be done with work by 2:30. It was already 2:40. He was there for more than another hour. 1 star for doing the work. -4 stars for wasting customers' time. read more

The sweetest couple who run this place are so lovely!!! I'm new to the area and needed to get a smog check. Found them here on yelp with amazing reviews so decided to stop by this morning. Unfortunately my smog check failed but they were super friendly and explained everything to me / gave recommendations on what to do. There were two customers who arrived ahead of me so in total I waited maybe half an hour. The actual check does not take long though maybe 10-15 minutes. DO NOT GO HERE. I highly suggest not getting your smog check here unless you want to have difficulty with the DMV and this company not sending over the correct forms to them. I politely called and asked if they could resend the forms or provide me a receipt to take to the DMV, and the man that runs this place started yelling over the phone and was incredibly rude, and said he would not give me a receipt or re-send the forms. Please do not go here, the man that runs it is all about taking your money and provides poor customer service. Now I'm going to have to pay for another smog check somewhere else because he did not do his job correctly. He's very rude and not helpful. read more
