I walked in thinking BBQ, but was distracted by the Friday Special--two slabs of very fresh , perfectly fried catfish. It came with a decent pile of slightly undercooked fries and an itty bitty hush puppy. The presentation, in a paper basket, was underwhelming but damn, that dish was nearly as good as my Dad's. Sorry, Dad--you're still Number 1! Ambiance is small town Texas--the employees wear oversized t shirts and look like last night was a tough one, busted window taped up, encouragement to the Local Sports Team painted on the unbroken front windows. Super nice staff. They were very accommodating and so friendly, but the quality of food was probably the worst we have ever had. Very disappointing, because it was recommended by a local. The fact that I didn't smell ANY BBQ pit smoke when we got out of the car was a red flag. We walked in and I didn't smell any food at all. Not typical of a BBQ joint. Once we took a bite of our food it was obvious it wasn't smoked in house. It tasted and looked like packaged meat. We have eaten BBQ all over the state, and I hate to say it, but this was by far the poorest BBQ we have ever had. read more

The food was amazing!! Brisket Nachos and a tater. Portions were more than enough. Staff were friendly and hospitable. It's a cozy little restaurant with the perfect amount of seating. We will definitely be going back. The price was more than fair for the amount of food served. read more

Pulled pork tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave, brisket was dry but thankfully not smoky. The hot bbq sauce wasn't hot and the potato salad was too wet. The baked beans were good though. I was driving through town to another location and wanted to show up with barbecue. I looked on Yelp to see what was available and I saw these guys and Doc's. I figured I would do a comparison, so I ordered sliced brisket and the jalapeno sausage at both. They were both way overpriced, but that wasn't the purpose of my visit. I ordered one pound of sliced brisket and one pound of the jalapeno sausage sausage at both. They both came out to around $50.00, which seemed like a lot for two pounds of mediocre barbecue. The lady here weighed out the meat and she looked at me with a side glance to see if I was looking. She only gave me about .8 pounds on each, because she thought I was not looking, so I paid too much and did not get what I paid for. Too bad that you can't give a negative rating! This place also did not include the barbecue sauce, so you had to pay more. Hopefully they go out of business soon, because they are huge crooks! I did not mention what was very obvious, because once you steal from someone you should not be given the opportunity to make it right. That lady is some sort of scumbag crook and hopefully nobody else has to deal with her. I am sure that she presents herself as a good person to her neighbors, but that is not the case. First off, you are probably wanting to know about the BRISKET. This is true Texas Brisket done very well. It is smoky and tender, appropriately seasoned and flavor was well-balanced. The mild bbq sauce was a little sweet, but certainly tasty, and the spicy sauce was too grainy - best to avoid the latter. For spicy people like me, get jalapeños or cherry peppers or the TEXAS TOOTHPICKS! Then eat your meat with an extra cup of the mild sauce on the side. The loaded bbq potato was great. The sausage also great. Friendly, fast service. WILL DEFINITELY STOP HERE AGAIN if/when craving bbq while driving through Crockett. read more

I was passing through and decided to stop. The place is family owned and has been around a long time. The staff and owner were very nice and helpful. BarBQ was juicy and flavorful. Food did seem pricey, but it seems like Barbq anywhere is pricey no a days. If I am passing through again, I would defiantly stop. read more

I wish I could give these guys more stars but the brisket was just too tough and only about 3/4-1" tall. So I couldn't understand why there was not more smoke flavor or tenderness. The people were very nice though and it was inexpensive. read more
