Stopped for lunch at Woodys while traveling from Houston. Everyone was so friendly and food was delicious. The potato salad was fantastic! I had to get some to take home. The brisket was amazing, too! I can't wait to try the little pies I brought home. Also as an army mom, I always love seeing a business supporting the military!!!

We're usually Shell or Exxon folks so when we stopped in Centerville and stumbled upon something special -- Woody's Smokehouse. What a find! We grabbed a quick brisket sandwich, browsed through their unique merchandise, and admired the rows of sausages and smoked meats. The jerky? Hands down some of the best I've had. The smoker out back sets the perfect atmosphere -- that smell alone is worth the stop. Plenty of parking, clean restrooms, and a welcoming, small-town rustic vibe. Everyone we met was friendly, and it's clear they take pride in what they do. We didn't have much time but we'll definitely be making Woody's a regular stop on future trips to Houston. See y'all next time!

This was my first visit, and I absolutely loved it! It feels like this place has been around long before Buc-ee's, yet it gives off a similar vibe--which I adore. The chopped beef sandwich was delicious, and my friend tried a variety of barbecue items and raved about all of them. Needless to say, this is a spot I'll definitely stop at whenever I'm traveling from Houston. Highly recommended!

I stopped at the southbound location for a quick lunch. The service at the BBQ counter is great, filling my order for a chopped beef sandwich and a side of beans quickly. I got a drink from the fountain and paid for all at on of their several cashiers. The store is quite large, offering plenty of ready to eat BBQ and deli sandwiches. They have bulk BBQ and meats and many other general store items, too. It is definitely more than just a "gas station". There are several tables available to eat inside, too. Overall, a very positive experience with good BBQ, too!

Just get gas and keep going. If you go beyond the gas pumps and try to get good food: you were warned. I've had BBQ from every region of Texas and have been to some great places, some awesome places, and some that I just enjoyed. This place had nothing in common with any of those. I like to think that this place was having it's hey day deep in the last century when they first bought the sun bleached plastic meats that are currently collecting dust & webs in their facade. Whenever it was, it was a long time before I showed up. You go thru the grocery store portion of the restaurant to the back side to place your order. Just remember, turn around at the gas station, but if you go thru the doors, head left and head back. It's kind of wonky. I went with the holy trinity (in this spot, I should have referred to it as the unholy trinity). You ask the slicer who rapidly pulls open the display case to carve the meats. The meats that have been under some type of heat lamp for way too long. Then, you grab your sides if you didn't get them at the beginning frig. Finally, you check out which seems to be the bottleneck of the whole enterprise. After getting a long lengthy correction of the differences between "Can I have a coke" versus "May I have a coke" from the cashier, I kinda got why everyone was waiting so long. I hadn't cared about the grammatical difference since high school. Since it appeared MUCH more recent in her life journey, I guess that's why she lectured me the differences. I'll try to end this for you: the brisket wasn't good, the ribs were terrible, the German sausage was interesting in an unpleasant way. The banana pudding tasted like it came out of a tube, but the potato salad was very good (I was looking for something to like) as were the beans. Personally, I wish I had grabbed a can of Coke from a frig, bought it at the grocery store line and then I wouldn't have had to ask if I "could" have anything.

    At the entrance.

Here's a new stop for ya right off I 45 between Dallas and Houston....Woodys. It's a country store with all kinds of things "country." From fresh food, meats, sauces, jerky, clothes & jewelry. A must place to stop & bring your cooler

I had to try it and it was as good as reported. (My friends have good taste!) I was immediately taken by the rustic charm of the establishment. To the left of the entrance was an old-fashioned meat counter filled with an assortment of smoked meats (some exotic) and jerkies (is the plural of jerky jerkies?). A few steps in, the counter gave way to a 90° turn followed by a steam tray with barbeque and sides. As I made my way around the establishment I spied the one thing that Bucc-ees is missing. An area to rest my heels while eating... it was small, but inviting. My chopped brisket sandwich came with a free side of beans. I happily retreated to my truck convinced that I'd found the best roadstop barbecue bargain in Texas. Did I mention that the sandwich only cost ~$7. Did I mention that the food was good?!

Cocoa's advertises itself as a kitchen supply store, and they definitely carry plenty of upscale brands (Zwilling, Breville, Le Creuset). We, however, were there for the Chocolate Gallery. The kitchen is surrounded by glass, so you can see all of the chocolate delicacies being made. We stopped in a few days before Valentine's day, so chef was making chocolate covered strawberries. While peering in, we noted the Culinary Institute of America chef's jacket on the wall behind us. This elevated our expectation! We made our way to the Chocolate Gallery, where a lovely attendant explained offerings that included a variety of cakes and artisan chocolates. Though they looked delicious, we passed on the cakes and strawberries, and selected 3 artisan chocolates each. These are the type of chocolates that you savor, letting them melt in your mouth. The mouth feel of these gems was smooth with no waxiness or grainy feeling, and the varied fillings enhanced the complexity. This isn't a penny candy store, but you're getting fine chocolates. Unfortunately, we were so busy savoring the chocolate, that we didn't take any photos! I hope Bryan supports this store during COVID-19 so that we can visit again when we come back.

A great addition to Downtown Bryan. A great selection of cookware and cutlery.read more

The store feels like walking into a family reunion with all the homemade goods that grandma brings and wine with relatives. Overall, the store felt warm. Cooper Farms had samples of their fruit wine, jams, and salsa out for those who were intrigued by the interesting flavors, like the peach salsa. My friend tried out the white peach wine and said the wine went down smoothly and had a delicious taste that could be dangerous if you are not counting how many glasses you are having. We ended up buying 3 bottles of wine ($22 but buy 2 or more get them for $20 each), a peach ice cream, and a peach milkshake for the road. Cooper Farms had stands of baked goods like pumpkin pie, pecan pie, peach cobbler, and so much more. The store opens up to multiple tables of snacks when you walk in and a jam/ salsa wall on your right. Food Review: Peach Ice Cream (5/5) I would recommend this to anyone who walks through the doors. I was expecting a sorbet peach but was surprised to taste cinnamon and a nutty flavor in my ice cream. The small portion was enough to keep me full for the rest of our roadtrip back to Houston. Peach Milkshake (5/5) The peach milkshake are for the drivers who can't active scoop and eat ice cream. The milkshake was just a blended version of the ice cream. It was a perfect to-go drink if you wanted to try their ice cream but need to focus on the road. Overall, I would love to come back here with family and have them try the ice cream. Next time, I would like to try out their baked goods. 10/10 would recommend!

When picking out the fried pie, staff was really nice and helped me picked a pie and she recommended that I microwave the pie to make it a little warm, but it is ready to eat as is. She says she leaves it in her fridge and eats a piece day by day for up to a week! I like eating something a little sweet everyday so I'm going to take her up on that advice for sure cause I know I can't eat that whole pie in one sitting. Haven't tried the other stuff but I look forward to it. Might stop by here again on my Dallas to houston journeys !
