The food here was great. We came for breakfast twice the biscuits are huge and delicious. The first time I ordered a biscuit with sausage, egg, and cheese. They give you 2 sausages that's how big the biscuits are. The second time I got biscuits and gravy. They give you 2 biscuits and 2 sausages. So delicious can't wait to comeback.

0.25¢ Coffee!! Is real, and not bad tasting. Food was really good, service was nice; it wasn't the welcoming small town that we are accustomed to but they were nice. The bathroom was nice and clean. The grits were flaming hot, temperature wise, which could be good but I had to take them home because they were too hot to eat there. Their eggs were a bit too runny for our taste but we just won't order them again. The salsa was delicious. Everything else pancakes, toast, fried potatoes and biscuits were great. Our next trip going by Madisonville will definitely include a stop at Walker's Cafe.

My husband and I were visiting from Houston and we stopped here for breakfast. The place was packed but we got seated quickly. Our waitress was prompt and taking our order and she was friendly. We both ordered the huevos rancheros. The sala was fantastic- I asked for more and was quickly brought more. The beans were just ok and lacked salt. The potatoes were nice and crispy and delicious! Incredibly, the coffee was only 0.25 cents and it was very good! This is probably going to be the best you can find in Madisonville. This place is very casual and because it is so busy, it is kind of loud.

Chicken Fried burger was amazing and so were the onion rings! I finished the meal off with a strawberry shake which was perfect but really huge!!! To top it all off our server Candace was phenomenal!!! Absolutely a must visit when in Madisonville!!!

No frills, staff is more than attentive. We got asked like five times if we would like a coffee refill. The restaurant was clean and organized. They have homemade cakes/desserts on display. It was a wonderful treat to experience this gem while we were in town for the annual Mushroom Festival.

I got the Walker's Dip with gluten free buns. I thought I would never be able to have a Philly cheesecake again bc of my gluten sensitivity but this place made it possible. They don't call it a Philly cheesesteak but that's pretty much what but is. It was really good. The dip/juice didn't do much for me, but it was good without it anyway. The servicebis also pretty good. No one had a bad attitude or was rude/racist (we're Indian). I got the seasoned fries and they were really good too. read more

We came for breakfast during our roadtrip. This place is amazing! The door is 100years old! Food is delicious, it is carefully made and they pay attention to details. Pancakes and buscuits were buttery soft and tasty. Pancakes are also huge, and yet not heavy. Bacon is crispy, potatoes are diced very small achieving a perfect fry. We loved this place, it being old adds so much character. I did not expect this when I first arrived, very pleasantly surprised! read more

It's a perfect place to stop for breakfast early in the morning, we were driving from Houston to Utah. We were looking for a place to have a breakfast and I noticed nice reviews about walkers cafe , it's not that far from 45 over a mile ... Lovely place , little town feel , nice! My mug is half-full of coffee. But, I can't help believing bad things, that we're all worshiping the golden calf and G-d's biting His tongue. The current state of the world frightens me. We know too much. We have too many casual encounters and too many tools for sleeping with strangers. That is why I take solace in that--even in utter loneliness--places like Walker's exist. Coffee. Fried food. And no reminders of bad things like ideologies. The steak is deep fried. My heart is also submerged in oil and fat and a general murky aching. I am utterly alone here, accompanied by coffee. Mr. King, the big city benefactor I've mentioned in other reviews, once told me that loneliness has nothing to do with company, but with feeling unrelated. He knows nothing of small town diners like this. He's big city alligator belts and cuff links. I wonder if he's even had a chicken fried anything. I should say, I am by no means seeking to make a small town diner like Walker's exotic. Quite the opposite. It's simple and normal. A worship group, a teenager pouring coffee. It's not perverted like Snooze or other big city diners where G-d is absent. I have my mug filled. My belly full. G-d's light flooding my shoulders. More promise of great things to come. read more

Left Bastrop on 21 early in morning looking for a place to eat breakfast. In Madisonville we came across Walker's Cafe. Fantastic breakfast, the meal was beyond reproach. Price was really great. That is not the greatest thing about it. It was their coffee, I have not had coffee that tasted that good since the 60's. As we make trips to see our kids and grandkids in Bastrop, we will be traveling highway 21 from this point on. The staff was super friendly and the sitting was akin to the old soda shops. It alone is worth the trip. read more

This is one of our "Go-To's" for Saturday lunch. They have a great hamburger (~6 oz. patty) and my wife raves about their BLT on a jalapeño roll. It's in the old drug store on the square so it's an interesting locale. The lunches also come with a free scoop of Blue-Bell! read more

Disappointing. We walk in for lunch today and they took our drink order and gave us menus. Waitress came back to take order. I wanted a patty melt and onion rings. At that moment she decides to tell us there are no more hamburgers, no more fries, and no more onion rings. A sign on the door or letting us know when we walked in would have been nice. read more

We were headed from a houston to Dallas and needed a place to stop for breakfast! Our usual go to is Cracker Barrel when on family road trips, but decided to try something new. This place is a true hidden gem to travelers. The town was adorable and we are so happy we found this little cafe. The coffee was good, and the food was delicious. Not a ton to choose from on the menu, but everything is tasty. The Miga's was amazing. My husband got the chicken fried steak with eggs. Kids said the pancakes were the best thing ever. On the buffet, my dad enjoyed the salad he had, but was surprised at the little variety offered that day. He said last time he was there with my brother there was more to choose from. He then got the fried chicken, which was greasy and barely any chicken on the thigh. I tried to find a drumstick but it was just breasts, thighs and a few wings. He did like the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. As for the fried okra, you have to eat it fresh. It is sitting under a heat lamp just makes it soggy and slimy. I ordered 4 vegetables a la carte which came out to be as much as the all you can eat buffet. First, their onion rings are OUTSTANDING! So is their homemade ranch. What was disappointing was the green beans, they definitely came out of a can and were heated. At $3.99 I expected fresh. There may have been a small piece of onion in it. Not sure if that was how it was cooked or if it fell in from another dish. The black-eyed peas were tasty. I also had a cup of the chicken corn chowder which was good. However, there was pieces of cubed chicken in it which also made me think that it was a prepackaged soup and not homemade. My dad got the coconut cream pie, which tasted good, but could have used more coconut then just on the top. He wanted bread pudding or peach cobbler, however at the time of day we were there, they had been picked over way too much, not leaving much for anyone else to enjoy. I did like the selections in the gift shop and purchased a tea towel before we left. I always like to try a place 3 times so I may stop in and try something else. Again, great customer service.

Concrete floors, a mix of mismatched chairs in earth tones with the occasional pop of red. You seat yourself, and service is quick. my server showed up almost immediately with a laminated 8.5x11 menu featuring a tight lineup of Americana comfort food. I went with the chicken fried steak, with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes on the side. The Brussels sprouts were split and grilled, simply done with a bit of butter and salt--nothing fancy, but solid. The mashed potatoes? A perfect base for the white gravy, which was the standout on the plate. The chicken fried steak itself had well-seasoned breading, but I wish the meat had been more tender. That said, the gravy was so good it honestly deserves to be bottled and sold at H-E-B. Because when you have already committed to overeating why stop, i tried the peach cobbler dessert. I should have stopped, this was terrible, it looked like someone dumped a can of peaches in syrup over raw dough...it tasted just the same. Such a let down with everything else being at the very least good.

When ordering ice cream she wasn't listening to our order, gave my husband his ice cream, slammed the glass door shut, then answered the phone to take a phone order. She didn't even finish getting our order...the customers that were in front of her. Someone else saw and she ended up finishing up our order and ringing us up so we could continue on with our journey.

This was a cute cafe. They have small joint very hometown. You could tell this was the place where the locals ate lunch. You could see them come in one by one and find their table and friends. We just sat back and watched the people. You saw cowboys with spurs, men with ties on, teachers ( local school colors gave them away) lots of old men talking and eating. They had a lunch special for the day, meatloaf it looked very good however our waitress said if we had never had one of the burgers then that was what we needed to order! WOW!!!!!! you could taste the meat the buns were toasted it was perfect! Then to top it off we were offered free ice cream! Blue Bell! Who does that? The service was good they were very busy we did not mind the wait we could people watch longer... There was a rancher, the lawyer, teacher i even think there was a judge( we were right across from the court house), The only reason I did not give them all 5 stars was the bath room. Small very out dated ( or vintage they like to call it!) I cant wait to go back and look at more samll town people. read more

when we were there a few years back, someone new had just purchased it and there was this weird looking and weirder acting woman with a fake British accent ALWAYS around and ALWAYS talking about how awful and unimpressive Texas was, and how her daughter could have married a pier instead of the common trash she ended up with or some such kind of crap. we complained because the UK sucks SO hard on SO many levels, and we were tired of listening to the OLD Ho, but were told they couldn't shut her up because she was related to the owner. we definitely haven't been back. read more
