Old style country buffet that reminds me of being in Central Texas during the '70s. Fried chicken, chicken fried steaks cream gravy, a big loaf of yeast bread when you sit down.... Sweet tea, candy yams three different cobblers and an assortment of pies... And plenty more. This place is basically halfway between Houston and Dallas on i-45 and it's hard for us to pass up, even with all the restaurants, we'll see in Dallas or Left behind in Houston. And of course the waitress are going to call you honey and darling which is all right by me!

Yummy...This buffet may be on the smaller side, but it's full of comfort food that hits the spot. The fried chicken was super crispy, and the mashed potatoes with white gravy were perfect alongside the brisket and corn. They also have banana pudding, cakes, pie, and jello for dessert, plus salad and punch options. What really stood out to me was the atmosphere--everyone, from the waiters to the guests, seemed to know each other. It gave the place such a warm, welcoming vibe that made the whole experience even better. I'm a picky eater, but I still found plenty to enjoy here

If you're cruising up or down I-45, Sam's Original Restaurant is an absolute must-stop in Fairfield! Friendly, down-home service - and if you can, ask for Jacki. She's a fantastic server with a big personality and even better stories (the kind that make you want to linger a little longer). The food? Classic comfort food done right at very reasonable prices, plus a hot and cold buffet right in the center of the restaurant - perfect for picky eaters, big appetites, or just wanting a little bit of everything. Bonus: there's a charming general store attached, making it a fun stretch-your-legs stop with snacks and goodies to browse. Whether you're heading to or from Dallas, this spot is a feel-good break that's worth the exit every time. Updated feel with down-home comforts! Big screen, TV and bar adds to the ambience!

Food is amazing. Hard to find places like this anymore. Beautiful place, clean inside is nice country home town atmosphere. Restrooms clean. The buffet is best spot from Dallas to Houston this is a must stop. You you not leave disappointed. At least I don't. Truly A++++. Ooh breastfeeding on Saturday morning and Sunday morning the best that is any where. No one else does this.

Sam's Original Restaurant is the hidden gem every Texan wants to find! My friend Jeff recommended Sam's as we were driving back from a road trip to an A&M game. Little did I know I would have one of the best American buffets in Texas! The food was wonderfully made, delicious to the bone, and packed with flavor. The salad bar was freshly prepared; I loved how they also served fresh fruit to go along with it! The service was a prime example of Southern hospitality - every single waitress so kind and greeted us with a gentle demeanor. The desserts you were definitely the best part of the buffet. There was a variety of pies, peach cobbler, and ice cream. My personal favorite was the Coconut Crean Pie - it was astronomically delicious Sam's was a wonderful conclusion to our trip! I recommend everyone traveling along I-45 to try it at least once in their lifetimes!

I was in town working at an event when we stumbled across Parks Family Buffet. I'm happy we decided…read moreto stop by because it was a great home-cooked experience. All of the food was fresh, and the best part was the chicken, but I enjoyed everything that I put on my plate. They also have some really good peach cobbler (which is even better when you put some soft serve on top). To top it off, everyone was so nice and welcoming. If I'm ever in Waco again, you can bet I'll be stopping by at Parks.

I ordered a plate of mixed fajitas that were absolutely gross, both the chicken and the beef. But…read morethe beef was particularly bad. I was surprised when it came out in under 10 minutes, Even asking the waitress, "already?". It was obvious it was precooked and stored, the flavor was undeniable. It tasted old. had that cooked in old oil flavor. Rock a deep fryer hasn't been changed out in a month absolutely no seasoning or marinade that I can tell. It was very off-putting. I sat there for a few minutes arguing with myself whether I was going to say anything or not. The waitress saw that I was displeased. when I very politely told her that the food tasted terrible she called over a lady who immediately became dismissive, rude and eventually argumentative. I asked for a manager, she stated, "Well, I'm the owner." She lied, swore up and down the food was fresh, lied again, claiming she had that very dish herself that day, as if just moments before I walked in the door) and that they have had no complaints. she refused to take it back and let me order something else. she stood there lording over me. basically, too bad so sad You're going to pay for it anyway. I left the whole plate on the table. I will never be back.
