We love this little restaurant. It is a sit down and order from the menu restaurant in an old store on the square in Crockett. We live 45 mile away in Lufkin and anytime we go through Crockett, stopping here is a must. We only have Chinese Buffets in Lufkin and it's a delight to order dishes here that you can't find in Lufkin such as Moo Goo GI Pan and Happy Family. The service is great as is the food. It's piping hot, fresh as can be and has never been on a dang steam table. Net time you're in Crockett, stop and enjoy. read more

Were Floridians who live in Waco due to military, we were passing through and had to try it! It was great!! Food was amazing, service was quick, they aren't very tentative but we were fine. They don't have many drink options but they had water haha! The inside is meh, they have lots of rotting and the chairs are fold up chairs. But hey whatever! Hole in the wall places like this are some of our favorites, and this is a great one. So if you are around- you have to give it a try! Prices are great, food was delicious, and staff was nice - just not around much haha! read more

When I was headed to Louisiana to visit the hubby for a few days, I called him and asked him to find an Asian restaurant at the midpoint (which is Crockett, Texas). And there was exactly one. Which the hubs said got more-than-decent reviews. And since I'm always up for ANYTHING Asian-food-adjacent FIRST, I went for it. I specifically ordered sweet tea, but without forewarning me (perhaps she FORGOT that I specified "sweet" tea twice), she brought unsweetened tea (there were artificial sweetener packets on the table and a long spoon in the tea, so . . .?‍). And their prices were so low that I decided to splurge for a mini Puu-puu platter -- which turned out to be my second mistake (the first one being having stopped there at all!!). And the hue of the "sweet-and-sour sauce" was startling (and WRONG) to say the least, but the consistency of the "beef stick" was nothing short of tree bark. As in "I am Groot!" I mean when I tapped my fork against it, it made a hollow knocking sound. (It was obvious that they were several days old and had been reheated multiple times.) So I tried the eggroll. Which was nothing but the wrapper with some faint-and-unidentifiable plant matter inside. (And if you've ever made eggrolls or lumpia by hand/from scratch, you know how dang labor-intensive and downright DIFFICULT they are to make, so you'd think if they were gonna take the time and effort to roll them up, they would put filling in them!) And I was terrified to try the crab Rangoon, because I got food poisoning from shrimp in the early 90s, and I felt like I was dying. So I was not about to attempt shellfish when I was already 0 for 3/4 just with the appetizer. So it was at this point I decided to read some of the reviews while I waited for my General Tso's chicken. And the very first one opened with the fact that they "were not going to sugarcoat things - - the food here is absolutely terrible, and there is no filling in the eggrolls." And they just went downhill from there. (And that one was one star - - because as any of you who have ever Yelped know, you have to put at least one star to be able to actually leave a review. Which I think is BS.) And let me backtrack and say when I first walked in the place, I was surprised at the complete and total lack of decor, to include hard plastic camping chairs. And then once I looked at their reviews, amazingly their photographs (seemingly proudly?!) included those chairs. So they weren't a new (read: post-pandemic-scrambling-to-open-back-up) thing. So when the server came back over to check on me, I pushed the appetizer plate towards her and told her there was no WAY I was eating that, much less paying for it. Then she whisked it away without a word, and I heard it clatter onto a countertop and into a sink right behind me (I was seated next to the kitchen). And the craziest thing is I had to park across the street next to the bank because this place was busy. She came right back with my lunch. Which was grayish in color (but the three sprigs of broccoli were beautiful!). These pictures do it tremendous justice, because it did not look this "good" in the restaurant. And all it tasted like was black pepper. Nothing but black pepper. It was awful. I was able to eat about three bites before I gave up. I took it with me so that my hubby could taste it (generously allowing for the fact that perhaps my sense of taste/smell had not fully returned post-Covid), but within the first 45 minutes of having left that restaurant, I had two bathroom emergencies - - the second of which caused me to get distracted enough (trying to find a restroom in rural eastern Texas isn't easy -- especially with ever-progressing food poisoning) to end up inadvertently doing 7 miles over the speed limit and subsequently getting pulled over. Once the state trooper got a good look at me, he took pity on me and sent me on my way pretty quickly. He was a very nice guy. And so I got food poisoning from this place. Actually, the state trooper asked me if I minded telling him where I had eaten, so I told him. ANYTHING to keep other people from going there. I wanted to warn away the customers coming in as I was leaving, but they seemed pretty anxious to get in there. I don't know why.‍ Of course, maybe most of the people in Crockett, Texas haven't lived all over the world as I have been so fortunate as to do. But this is the worst food I've ever eaten in my life - - especially Chinese. read more

Stopped to get food to go. Got Garlic Chicken, Happy Family and Combo Fried Rice. Ordered a cup of each of the soups. Everything had a very off putting smell and a taste that was very "plasticky" Left an awful taste in your mouth. Egg rolls were very doughy and barely had any filling. Was very disappointed. Hoping the smell taste was from some oil or something and we don't get sick. Will not be back. read more

Went to Crockett, TX stopped at Lee's China and got Sweet and Sour Pork and Wanton Soup! This is by far the best Chinese restaurant around! The prices are great and the food is terrific!! I have been eating here at this restaurant for years and have always left with a great dining experience! The staff and owner are very friendly! If you haven't visited the square in Crockett and been to Lee's China, you are missing out! I came here during my week-long stay in Crockett and it looks like a little run-down restaurant; however, I never let that stop me from trying food as I've had delicious and amazing food from places like these. This... Was not one of those places. I ordered a Shrimp with Broccoli that apparently comes with a "creamy white sauce". The sauce was horrendously oily and very salty. It looked opaque-white and was definitely not creamy. It looked like someone had made it by accident and then served it. The shrimp was so completely overdone that it was like chewing rubber. I feel the only reason I ate here was because I was desperately hungry and I was with friends. Overall: If I ever come back to Crockett, I would never ever come back here. Best Chinese food hands down! I'm a huge fan for Chinese food and try it anywhere I go but never liked it as much as Lee's China Inn

Had low expectations for Chinese food in such a small town so was surprised that it was decent. Can't say it was earth shattering but it was good. The egg roll was a bit bland and the beef in the Hunan beef was a little tough but overall I would come back when I'm in town again. If nothing else to try a different dish. read more

Only gave one star because it wouldn't let me review without any stars.. Ordered kung pao shrimp shrimp fried rice General tso Chicken sweet and sour chicken and after 2 bites of the Kung Pao shrimp sweet and sour chicken my 8 year old daughter and husband started throwing up. I called to inform them after spending $40 for lunch here we're unable to eat any of it and all I was offered was replacement meals if they're getting sick why would I order more food from there they refuse to give me a refund I use to eat here all the time many years ago. I will not be back but am notifying the health department as well. read more

Everything's terrible. I'm not going to sugar coat it, and lee definitely isn't. The egg rolls they use here literally have no filling and neither do the crab puffs. It was extremely disappointing first time going there. I ordered the general Tso chicken which was also incredibly disappointing and extremely poorly prepared and cooked. The chicken was not cleared of tendons and it was also not battered and deep fried properly. My fiance ordered something called the five delight or something and oh my God it tasted so horrible we could not even literally eat one bite. We had to spit our bites out back onto the plate because it tasted literally rancid, I'm not embellishing this to make it sound worse it was actually literally rancid and unedible. We sent the food back and to their credit they substituted the order for something else. I asked the waitress to try for herself so she can see how bad it was but she shook her head like she already knew how bad it was. I'm so very disappointed that this is the only Chinese place in Crockett. I think Mr Lee needs to get rid of almost all the menu items and just focus on making a few things well. He needs to come down to Houston and have some proper Chinese food so he can see what it's supposed to taste like and not serve this garbage that he's serving now. read more

I was worried after reading mixed reviews but I am a fan. The egg drop soup was delicious, my hot and spicy chicken was really good, and the egg roll was big and yummy! Remember we're talking small town Chinese so don't expect fancy fusion stuff. It's just good food. We will be back. read more

Honestly, I'm leaving this review to warn others. My family all ordered meals with the most awful looking and rubber tasting chicken. There was also a very large amount of dirty dishes sitting outside the kitchen. My husband and I both instantly have an upset stomach. Fortune cookies were unfortunately stale. Service was okay. Very disappointing as we've driven by this restaurant numerous times with excitement to give it a try. I recommend skipping this one. read more

This is my favorite Chinese Resturant. Mr. Lee serves excellent food, the service is good, and I have been coming here for almost 30 years. For a Resturant to be in business for this long, you KNOW the food is good! The eggplant and shredded pork is my family favorite-used to buy 6 orders to carry back to Loiusiana to try to tie me over til the next visit (a month). I was in town for work and checked my fancy yelp app for a decent food outfit. And this had 4 stars. I'm not picky and easy to please, but this was terrible. The only so so thing was the hot and sour soup that was loaded with canned mushrooms. I got the garlic chicken, potstickers and hot and sour soup. It sucked. Service sucked. Food sucked. I might just go down to what's burger or mcdonalds it was that bad. read more

I have been going to Lee's China Inn for years, my entire family for that matter. We were one of the first families to settle here in Crockett and I've never had anything bad to say about these people until now. About six months ago my fiance an I order to go an when we get into the car with our food I open it up to make sure everything is right and I could not believe what I saw, I literally almost got sick. There was a roach in my meat that was actually cooked in the sauce.... In shock I brought it back in asking for the manager the young girl at the register said no one was there an asked if I would like a new plate (?!) I immediately started asking where was their health inspection grade posted an we couldn't find it on the wall she didn't even know what I was talking about. What we did find was a pest control inspection posted on the wall with an expiration date of 2006!! So we got our money refunded left our number to have the manager contact us which he never did, an also found out that the state of Texas does not send health inspectors to our food establishments here in Crockett. We're just too small an not worth their time. So I only trust places like TaTa's an Los Ranchos because they both have fresh new built kitchens less than a year old. read more
