Poppy seed bagel with strawberry spread

Its me again with another review of a poppy seed bagel with strawberry spread. Smith st bagel did deliver you freshly baked, soft and crunchy New York style bagel with great tasting spread. But hold on, let's mention the guys behind the counter. As always, I asked for a little advise, a recommendation on how to order my bagel and the two guys behind the counter not only gave a recommendation but got into a small friendly chat. Gentlemen, you get 5 STARS on top of the 5 stars for this review and a huge THANK YOU for being so friendly. Looks like Smith st bagel offers a huge variety of freshly made bagel and a fridge full of different spreads. I was pleasantly surprised seeing cucumber dill, honey bacon or chipotle flavors just to name few. The shop has some indoor seating and few benches outside. This place certainly becoming a part of the neighborhood.

I had a delivery order from Smith Street Bagel since it was nearby. We got the Lox Bagel ($14.95) and Lox Spread Bagel ($5.95). The plain bagel was too chewy and hard with little cream cheese, so felt this was lackluster. The lox was decent, but I've had better. For the price, it's not too bad but I'd rather spend a couple dollars more for a stuffed bagel.

I noticed Smith Street Bagels as I was heading into an imaging appointment across the street. I just knew I was going to grab a bagel before I headed home. Sooooo glad i stopped by, as they didn't disappoint! I ordered a whole wheat everything bagel with lox spread and it was utterly delicious!!! SSB had a wide variety of cream cheeses: vegan, gluten free, and a myriad of flavors. If you're not in the mood for a bagel, they have juices, smoothies, pastries, etc. Slightly overwhelming, but in a great way!!! If you're ever in Cobble Hill, Smith Street Bagels should be your breakfast destination, regardless of the time of day! Oh and they have a b&w cookie that's a must!!!

My first bagel experience in New York hit the spot. I shared an everything bagel with lox cream cheese, though they forgot to put the extra tomato we paid for. This was soo tasty and perfectly toasted. I also shared the egg sandwich 9 on a pumperknickle, which was also decadent. Coffee washed this all down well too!

This is one of the few bagel joints around that is open late. I believe they used to be open 24 hours, but I'm not sure that is still the case. When I came around 5pm, most of the bagel selection had already been depleted so I opted for an everything pumpernickel with scallion and lox cream cheese ($6.95). I was stuck between that or the mushroom and truffle, but decided on the former after both staff members recommended it. But, I did feel that the cream cheese lacked any real lox flavor as it was mostly just salty but tinged with scallion pieces. The pumpernickel bagel had an excellent chew and was perfectly dense and hearty.

What we have left after what we purchased. Delicious.

I have seen this place before and have even gotten some coffee from there on the go when I'm walking by.i love the white and back checkered style they have inside. They do have a nice layout with seating. I usually go to the city for my bagels, it's a few min drive for me, But with the new congestion price on the bridges and tunnels going into the city is a no. I usually go to the city to see my dad, bring him some bagels from around his house. But since we aren't going to the city as much we figured why not just give smith street bagels a try. When I first walked in a worker told me to wait he would tend to me, but then another worker came by and said next, so I was ready to order and he told me to wait. I was getting aggravated but finally the other worker came. I got my bagels and cream cheese and left. I can honestly say these bagels did not disappoint. They were absolutely delicious! Their in-house cream cheese was delicious! Their bagels were light yet soft made to perfection. If you're in the mood for some delicious bagels and cream cheese you won't have to cross a bridge or take a tunnel. All you have to do is come here to smith street bagels.

Love the bagels from here, when you go early in the morning the service is bustling and hustling and the bagels are warm and have a soft delicious inside. It's a daily visit for me when I have a job site close to the location!

Consistently good bagels and good service. The pumpernickel is especially good. If you're travelling they also freeze well.

Are your GF bagels freshly made on site? Or do you buy them from an outsourcer?

    They make them in store!

Where's EDDIE?! Also why are they no longer open late?

Really good question. I just went last night around 10:30 and they were closed. No bagel with my boat bar beer. :(

There's a couple of tables in a small store. Above the register there's a menu board resembling a train departures board, cycling through the options (it looks neat, but the printed out menu on your right is a lot more practical). There's a cooler with drinks and salads as you enter on the right. The sandwiches, however, are something special. On my first visit I went with something familiar, the Mean Streets (their Italian sandwich). The bread itself is fantastic (locally baked), and the toppings delicious as well (if I recall correctly the dressings are house made). Pleasantly, they also give you a paper plate with your order, which is a nice touch compared to eating off a wrapper. I enjoyed the first sandwich so much I came back the next day to try the No Sleep Til Gravesend. The sandwich is essentially a hot roast beef sandwich, with a jus on the sandwich reminiscent of a French Dip. Perfect on a cold, rainy day. Overall, 1 of 1 has great (and mostly house made) ingredients and great execution. There's a level of creativity on the menu that you rarely see elsewhere in the city. 1 of 1 is among the best sandwich shops in the city, and a very welcome addition to the area.

When the hype got large enough, the owner decided to start a pizzeria and the rest is not history. This is one of the more worthwhile TGTG orders to me. Expensive though, about $55 dollars for a vegan 18-inch Margherita pie with 3 toppings. Was it worth it for the experience? Yes. Would I recommend to someone who wanted to try it at least once for a good dairy-free pizza? Absolutely, I couldn't even tell this was vegan cheese. Would I get it again? Maybe (?) once in a while as a treat with price being the only barrier. Service 5/5: This was great. I came here the other day to inquire about their vegan pizza and just wanted to try a slice. The person found his manager to talk to me about this. They were super friendly and explained to me the situation. This location only sold vegan options in full pies and their other DOP Fast Life location does sell vegan slices, but they didn't try to push me to buy. I came back today and the staff today were also very welcoming. Ambiance 5/5: Rustic red brick interior with warm lighting. It was definitely bustling on a Friday night. Food 5/5: Delicious pizza. I do regret that I ate it cold after driving 30 minutes to pick it up so I did not get the full experience. But the crust was still crunchy. I do wish the toppings were a little heavier but the tomato chunks in the sauce tasted very fresh. A very classic New York style pizza and I couldn't even tell it wasn't real cheese. Vegan garlic knots were great too.
