Smith Park is a great spot if you're looking for space to play and relax. The turf field is a big highlight, especially since it has open hours for the public, which is perfect for casual soccer sessions or just getting some exercise in. Also, sometimes there's older kids there who are smoking or rough housing near the playground, especially around sunset. read more

Wanting to take the kids out to burn off some steam. This is a great park to do so. They have so many different things to do. Playgrounds - They have two play grounds. A small playground for young kids and a big one for older kids. Rubber shreds so kids don't get hurt and some areas have rubber pads. Only down side of the playgrounds is people. They leave their mess all over the place. They need to pick up their trash. Skate park - the skate park is a little rundown. It's a great entity to the park but needs to be kept up a little better. Again! Trash everywhere but it's the people in the skate park that leave their mess everywhere. Baseball fields - 4 baseball fields. Two are completely locked down. The other two you just need to walk around the gate to get in and use them. Good fields for baseball. Football stadium- this football field can also be used for soccer. There are small soccer fields on the sides that they use for little kids during soccer season. Aquatic center - this has been closed for a couple years. Looks like they are trying to remodel it and looking to have a functioning pool in the next couple years. I believe by 2025. Walking trail - small walking/jogging trail around the football stadium. You can go and get your walk on. Restrooms - it's a park so you get a lot of people go in and out. These also need to be cleaned more often and better maintenance. Picnic area - they have a couple built in bbqs and picnic tables. People have Birthday party's and other events there. All in all it's a very good park. It just needs a little more TLC. I'm only giving this place two stars because today Sunday December 18 between 6-7pm my nephew's vehicle was vandalized! My nephew works hard to pay for his first vehicle. It's pretty sad someone would do this. He was there playing soccer with his little brother. If you witnessed this or know any information would greatly appreciate the public's help. Smith Park will always have a special place in my heart. It's where my Twins, (who will be playing College in Pennsylvania in spring of '23, and my youngest, who will be playing High School for one of the best coaches in Cali at Warren H.S. next year) got their start. Pony Baseball at that park has gotten much better under their somewhat new President, Marcos Armenta, and his amazing board. It's always clean and well maintained. Four baseball fields, a football/soccer field and a skate park, for now. If you want your son or daughter to play in a recreational sport, this is the park to go to. They have an amazing snack bar during the pony season, and friendly staff. read more

It's mainly a recreational park..pool with lessons, baseball teams and tourney, AYSO and other soccer league games and I imagine football as well. The kids playground is good and large.. summer camps are always there in the day time .. the skate park full of teens some stoners why lie. Theres handball courts and basketball courts on the side. As I walk around and everytime I've come to this park..I always see same sex teen couples.. mainly female on female so its LGBT safe if that matters. Only seen 2 cheating couples the whole time I've been there..bathrooms are always locked and plenty of parking but not for the size. Smith Park in Pico Rivera is great for so many reasons. Next to Rivera and Rio Hondo Parks, I think it's one of the largest ones in the city. As a parent, I especially love it for the playground surface made of rubber tire mulch - SO much better than sand or wood chips - thank you, City of Pico Rivera. On the smaller playground a total of 6,666 tires were spared from being simply dumped in a landfill. PROS - easy to find from Rosemead Blvd - ample parking - 2 playgrounds (the smaller one for ages 2-5) - lighted softball/football/soccer fields - basketball courts - skatepark - restrooms nearby (women's was very clean & well-stocked w/baby changing station) - Olympic-size swimming pool - picnic tables - BBQ pits with hot ash dumpsters nearby & more CONS - the rubber mulch stinks, but you'll get used to it... wear dark clothing as it will rub off on you - needed some trash pick up in key areas SIDE NOTE There is an emergency call pole near the smaller playground. I think the main reason I saw (4/28/16) two sheriff's department vehicles (one later parked right next to the pole) was because some brave little kid pushed the button. Like many local parks Smith Park in Pico Rivera has trees, playgrounds, baseball areas, free play and more. This park is across the street from the Library and near our mega strip mall near Rosemead. The have two playground areas for the kids. One has sand and very soft rubber for protection the other one only sand. The sand gets beat up by a machine keeping it really soft, great idea as it can decrease injuries from kids falling into it. The playground has the slides, jungle gym, and the usual. There is a nice basketball court area too bad I had no balls. The huge trees provide a great shade to the play areas and much of the open areas of the park. The bathroom in the middle of the park is open. They have a skate park area. There is always enough parking as some walk to the park. Park police and maintenance were around today which is a benfit for public safety. I look forward to coming back soon. read more

Smith park is a great park of the many Pico Rivera has. There are two playgrounds; one for children under 5 years old and the other for the older little monkeys. There isn't sand here which is great. Instead there is what looks like pieces of old recycled tires? Well whatever it is, it's bouncy and doesn't get stuck in your shoes. The older kid playground has plenty to do like wall/rock climbing, 3 huge slides, monkey type bars of all types, and a replica of a huge tire swing in a disk shape that fits about 5-7 kids! Neat! There's also a football field, 2 baseball fields, soccer fields, a skatepark, and about 12 basketball courts. Not to mention the restrooms are clean! They're equipped with soap, seat-covers, baby changing table, and DOORS! Hey, but the elotero (corn man) has gotten hella pricey! What happened to $1.00 elotes? It has been a handful of years since my friends and I played ball at this park and boy has it changed... In a good way! I can only speak for the baseball fields because that's the only sport I played when I've been to this particular park. In my personal opinion I feel that it's an awesome field for Major League Softball games. There is a fence a few hundred feet away from home plate in case you decide to swing like a pro and hit bombs :) The dugout is also nice and spacious so you won't be crammed in like a bunch of sardines in a tin can. The restrooms are close by, unlike Rio Park. I look forward to playing games at this location because it's not far from home and there are a bunch of places to grab a bite once I'm done with my extracurricular activity. read more

My review is for the kid's play area. We came across this park while in the neighborhood and decided to check it out. We went on a Sunday morning around 10ish. When we got there we noticed there were a few games going on which is the reason for the packed parking lot. We parked by the community center, which wasn't too far from the play area. There are two big play areas, one for the 2-5 year olds and the bigger one for the older kids. The play areas were both fun and had many interesting features that are sure to keep the kiddos entertained, including slides, spinning seats, swings, and steering wheels for the kids to turn. One of the very cool things about this play area is that the floor is made up of recycled car tires, which makes it soft and bouncy for the safety of the kids. read more

I like this park so far it's not to messed up except when the people leave their trash all over. My son likes it here so I bring him over when I can. Pico Rivera finally did something good for their community. Fixed up a raggedy park took it back from the infestation it had. Now if they could fix their sheriff's department then this write up would be better. read more

Even though I live in this city, this park has had some major upgrades. This is a great park. My review though is not on the park but on the aquatics dept. Yes we hosted the 1984 Olympics and for that reason, it should not give The City of Pico Rivera to be complacent on the development of innovation for this pool. This pool has become outdated and behind the innovations of other cities. Our elected officials are falling behind on what our Aquatics Center can and should become, which is the center of aquatics. Build a water themed park like La Mirada and San Fernando. Build a splash pad like Montebello. If only our city...*sigh*...sorry for the rant...our elected officials have really dropped the ball. read more

Main field (soccer/football) is usually free till about 330p but if you arrive early and set up your cones/exercise area in a section nobody bothers you or has you move. What a shame though, the stand/seating area is too small. Hopefully theyll expand it. Parking is great, running track/trail is perfect, playground area is great and its a park cant complain that its kept up nicely. read more

This one is pretty epic! My boyfriend and his kids loved it. The oldest is learning how to skate, and guess what it has a skate park! They're all trying to part take into playing baseball, and there's plenty on baseball fields! His youngest are all over the jungle jims!!!! They have a great little seating area with shade. You can watch the kids skate in the skate park or play in the real park. They've upgraded and updated nicely. Beautiful place across from the library...multiple softball fields, a walking track around the football/soccer field. Beautiful area, peaceful mostly when they're not hosting the Farmer's Market on Wednesdays or some festival. Couple of basketball courts...all around great place to hang out. read more

It has so many activities for the kids, so many programs, soccer, baseball, aerobics, carnivals, and the skatepark?? wow! ..I absolutely love the pool during the summer. So many lifeguards on staff. Even though I've moved out of the city, I still come back every summer to have picnics in the park and pool time with my son and his friends. I've introduced so many people to this park, it's almost as if i'm its spokesperson. There is definitely so much to do there all year around. First of all, the playgrounds in this park are excellent and the conditions of the premises are kept well. Parents please take the time to read this: If you are planning to sign up your child for baseball, please consider other parks or cities to do so. There is lots of drama and lack of authority at the board member's level. Some board members have favoritism among their friends and protect certain interests. If your child lands in a team with a regular coach not buddies with board members, your chances of getting field practices are less. If you have a complaint against a bias coach ( hardly playing your son in games) and if that coach is " friends with a board member" better chances you have to talk to the wall. It is a terrible thing what is going on in our community park. By the way, anybody can be a coach in this park ( not fingerprints required) some coaches in this park lack the proper training in how to talk to a child. Coaches you know who you are no names required. ( pony division, mustang division) Coaches are allowed to disrespect a child in front of their parents and some parents go complain and nothing is done by the president or board members. Coaches have forgotten that at this age 4 years old to 10 years old sometimes winning is not the most important thing bit rather development, structure, sportsmanship good values. As coaches, we play an important role in our kid's lives and setting the good example only helps. Hope something changes in the future and new board members come in without their masks of personal interests. I am a member of the community interested in a better future in baseball for my child. Hope we elect carefully our board members. Everything starts there. read more

please do not cut down all of the beautiful and old trees in smith park. many residents of pico rivera and outside of pr love these old trees. we con't need so many ball fields. many of us do love trees in our park--old trees. please speak up at the city council meetings and call parks and recreation if you care about the old trees at smith park. rivera park is now one giant ball field with only three of its old, orginal trees left. read more
