    Partially fenced in playground! Woohoo
    Monique Z.

Love this park! Playground is partially fenced in with full rubber turf flooring. My toddler had a blast climbing the play structure, going down the 2 slides. Also really enjoyed the swings. and jumping on the frog lily pad sculptures. Great place to walk, there's a peaceful outdoor nature trail with beautiful waterfalls & open grass. Great for a picnic, or scenic walk. During the fall the tree's change colors to vibrant orange and red, great for family photos. Parking is along the street. Beware of trash trucks racing past you as you unload your car, there's a landfill around the corner & those big trucks don't slow down. Other than that, I highly recommend this park.

Such a relaxing little hidden gem , stopped by one morning and it was so clean and quiet. Theres a lot of people that were there to meditate and that is exactly what i did too . Definitely recommend for quiet time .

Park's makes lives better a little nature and outdoor fun go a long way it all equals happiness also a bit healthier I might say. Leo and I had a 1 pm photo shoot here with "The Grinch" I meet over the weekend at the parade in Whittier. We arrived early to take advantage of getting a few more steps in. Restrooms were well maintained most definitely have not seen that in some time in most parks. Even toilet paper was available. The play area was closed as a few things were being worked on. A fence was up to prevent anyone who might be enticed. The reward of walking is finding the most relaxing and serne thing's like a small bridge and running water. This neighborhood gem is nestled behind york. On york is where there is parking.

First visitor to this park with my 4 legged kiddo Street parking available maybe 30 spots in a residential area of Whittier Dog friendly Walker jogger runner friendly Slight hills but it's the border and boundaries of the park Multiple entry ways via stairs Free parking no fees :) One large size playground Bathroom facility on site The water fountain / water features were turned off but still very pretty and picturesque Lot of greenery and benches to sit throughout Plenty of picnic area but just exposed to the elements Brings your doggy bags Very clean wide pathways litter not seen Very cute quaint hidden gem - would certainly return and it appears to be open by sunrise :)

This place is beautiful! My husband and I were in Whittier for a specific restaurant, and he found a park to have a picnic at and this place was absolutely stunning. It has a waterfall, small trail, many bridges, roses, cherry blossoms trees, shading trees over a large patch of green grass, and a playground! It was honestly so lovely spending some time here. I would totally recommend visiting!

BTS ARMY friends and I were looking for a park central to our four locations. Since it was in the beginning of the pandemic summer, we wanted an outdoors park with some shade, space for physical distancing, and easy parking. One of my co-workers suggested Penn Park when I asked her for some recommendations of parks in Whittier that fit what we were looking for. And it fit what we needed perfectly! Parking was not hard, as there were plenty of angled spots alongside the park (as long as you don't go too far up the hill). Unfortunately, none of the parking spots got any shade in the afternoon. But that's okay, because the important part was finding shade for us to sit close enough but far apart without getting into the space of other park-goers. We found enough space under one of the large trees for us to spread 4 large picnic blankets. I also happen to sit close enough to the tree where several squirrels would wander close (I guess to see if we had food!), so I got some time with the park's wildlife. Hehe. We didn't venture far into the park beyond the spot we took near one of the entrances. We did see a kid's playground and there's a small waterfall towards the back of the park. Not sure of any restroom facilities either. It didn't get too crowded during our Saturday afternoon, so that's a nice plus!

It's a small quaint park. Great for small walks, bbqs, glamour photos, and pets. Small trail and water fountain/ pond. More than enough parking availability with manicured gardens and patios and open air park bbq and benches. For quick training, I only recommend sprints of 200 m to 400 m around the park. Great small inclines for strength workouts . The best score would be 3.5 to 3.9. Too mad it's too small but for community events .

NOTE: Whoever controls the Yelp listings for Whittier is out of their mind. I initially wrote this review of Penn Park, and then for some reason, that entire listing got moved to "Town Hall," even though almost all of the reviews were of Penn Park. I informed Yelp of the mistake many times, and all they did was rename that other listing "City Hall." So if you want to read additional glowing reviews of Penn Park, search City Hall within Yelp Whittier. ==================== Originally posted 3/9/2008 (Happy birthday, Greg!) Whittier is lackluster in a lot of departments, but its parks are definitely top notch. I didn't spend a whole lot of time at Penn Park when I was a little kid, but I did hang out there once I could drive. It's strange because it's not that big yet there are many different parts of it. I think when I was a kid there were ducks to feed, although I'm not sure if they're still around. People are always taking wedding pictures at the gazebo, and it's odd that it's across the street from the dump. Oh, and when it rains a lot, the lower parts of the park flood. This is basically a beautiful place to read a book. Make sure you grab some shade, and listen for the ice-cream man.

I used to always go to this park when I lived in Whittier. I recently just took a drive back, we used to call it Jungle park because they have a area that has bridges, waterfalls, hills, stairs and bunch of trees and bushes like a jungle,it's such a beautiful section of this park to walk through. The waterfall is always running as well, the playground isn't as big but that's okay, there's tons of grass space and a large hill to ride bikes and scooters down. And they have a sprinkler, I'm not sure if it's still on in summer but when I was younger it would be. They have a area that has tons of tables for birthday parties, as well as a cute gazebo. It's a free public park.

It's a beautifully landscaped park with a big walking path uphill (for those who want to do leg day) and flat surfaces, water stream, mini falls, kids play park, and picnic tables. Not a lot of people come here only locals which makes it a perfect place to unwind. I knocked 1 star down as the restrooms don't have soap nor paper towels. Bring a sanitizer if you are a germ freak like me . Other than that, I like this park for peace and quiet.

Unfortunately, the grass looked overgrown, and the overall area did not feel especially clean or well cared for. One interesting part was seeing people test and fly small remote-controlled aircraft. It was my first time seeing something like that, so I did enjoy watching it. Still, I am not sure that alone is enough to justify paying an entrance fee. This is only my honest experience, but I left wondering what makes this park worth the entrance fee compared with other public parks.

Adventure Park. It has an early-'90s water-park ring to its name, and while parts of it look like they're from the early '90s, it's just a plain old park with athletic fields, a gym, green space, and some sparse picnic tables. And what would a Whittier-area park be without its obligatory random ravine and/or concrete drainage area? In this case, said concrete drainage area is dangerous-looking for kids and runs right through the park at a right angle. It's fenced off, and there are helpful bridges to cross it, but I wonder why they sited it through the park rather than on one end of it. I'm sure some kids have adventures here, because all parks with grass and play equipment can be fun and create childhood memories. But Whittier has spoiled me with its parks, and while this is technically South Whittier so it's outside of Whittier's borders, it's still close enough that it should feel like a Whittier park, and it most certainly does not. Why? Because it's totally flat. And totally rectangular. When my parents were walking twice a day during COVID lockdowns/curfews, I suggested they visit this park to change up their rotation, which comprised only two or three parks at the time. They said it was OK, and I later came with my mom and realized why it wasn't their favorite. The concrete path isn't totally straight, so there's some variety, but there isn't much shade along the path. There's lots of parking, and it serves its purpose as a neighborhood park, but it could be so much better.
