The last time I was here, my flat in San Francisco had recently burned down, and I had just renewed my driver's license at the nearby DMV and was talking on the phone to my roommate about getting another government document completely unrelated to my license or the fire, but we were talking about tragedy--real tragedy, not a fire that didn't kill anyone--and I was so stressed out by a lot of things, but the park actually made me feel better, even though I couldn't walk in most of it because they were re-sodding the fields. Adventure Park. It has an early-'90s water-park ring to its name, and while parts of it look like they're from the early '90s, it's just a plain old park with athletic fields, a gym, green space, and some sparse picnic tables. And what would a Whittier-area park be without its obligatory random ravine and/or concrete drainage area? In this case, said concrete drainage area is dangerous-looking for kids and runs right through the park at a right angle. It's fenced off, and there are helpful bridges to cross it, but I wonder why they sited it through the park rather than on one end of it. I'm sure some kids have adventures here, because all parks with grass and play equipment can be fun and create childhood memories. But Whittier has spoiled me with its parks, and while this is technically South Whittier so it's outside of Whittier's borders, it's still close enough that it should feel like a Whittier park, and it most certainly does not. Why? Because it's totally flat. And totally rectangular. When my parents were walking twice a day during COVID lockdowns/curfews, I suggested they visit this park to change up their rotation, which comprised only two or three parks at the time. They said it was OK, and I later came with my mom and realized why it wasn't their favorite. The concrete path isn't totally straight, so there's some variety, but there isn't much shade along the path. There's lots of parking, and it serves its purpose as a neighborhood park, but it could be so much better. read more

There's signs explaining the history of the Native Americans and what they used. I thought it was interesting how much of the elderberry/elderflower tree they used for tools. There's also an area that goes into urban runoff and the rain garden. It's a small but cute park with a basketball court and a playground on one side. I would have stayed longer, but it was really warm, even in the late afternoon. read more

Love the Adventure Park only bad thing is that it's Saturday Aptil 5th and the bathrooms have been closed since 5pm and that's bad because it's a family park and a lot of had to leave and come back because they closed the bathrooms. SPLASH PAD HOURS Closed Sunday and Monday (why??) Tuesday-Saturday open 10:30-7 Cute little place. Bring your blanket or lawn chair. Sometimes the water turns off for a short period due to water pressure. But it comes back on. read more

3.5 stars- Nice park with a track area, baseball fields, a splash pad, playground and basketball courts. Parking was plentiful for a weekend morning. I mainly visited for the track as I like to walk after a long 10 hour work day spent sitting (but not deal with the hustle and bustle of going to the gym). The track is not fully paved- some parts are cement and a sizable portion is dirt. The only gripe I have about the dirt area is that the sprinklers were pointed incorrectly; it caused the dirt to just get muddy thus becoming unsafe and slippery in the morning. This is more concerning for those who aren't super careful or elderly in which falls can be very devastating. I would visit more often if the track wasn't as slippery. Will try again another day! read more

Loved! Loved! Loved! Wanted to take my nearly 2 year old to a splash pad and this did not disappoint! She enjoyed every second of it and all the adults were so kind as well. Will definitely be back. Plenty of parking, shade, close restroom accessibility and free lunch for kids between 11am -12pm. How awesome is that?? read more

I was only here for softball, the fields are good but my main issue was the bathrooms. There was no toilet paper in the men and women's bathroom. No toilet seat covers. No trash for the dirty toilet paper, so there was dirty trash on the floor with a lot of water on the floor. How was our team supposed to use the restrooms?!!! read more

Adventure park is a beautiful park in Whittier' and the restrooms are always open! Dingdingding!!! They have alot of programs for all ages. Zumba Sports After school programs Summer programs And a summer snack program They host yardsales where you can bring your goods to sell at their "flea marts" Summer movie night's Basketball courts Walk the track that circles the park and also has exercise equipment Baseball field Playground and NEW this summer a water play area!!! So excited to visit all summer! If you have older kids 10+ please be courtesy to the little ones around you. Thx I really hope this spot stays clean. PLEASE IF YOUR CHILD has diaharrea STAY AWAY. I know accident happen but be thoughtful of other kids. HFMD (hand foot mouth disease) is very contagious and it's start with poop! Seriously!! Clean up after yourselves. Our go to park! The kids love it. Weekends it gets full sometimes since families are allowed to have their birthday party's here and can have their party's by the splash pad(which is kinda cool). I usually come around 2-3 pm during the week and it's never full. Also the park office gives the kids a free snack every day. You gotta eat the snack in the sitting area by the office. Remember that if the splash pad isn't on, on the days it should be you have to PRESS THE SENSOR (blue and orange small poles in the splash pad) read more

This is a super cute park to take your dogs for a walk. In addition to an outdoor track and baseball field, they have outdoor excercise machines for all to use including weight and cardio machines (all of them use your own resistance and do not run on motors). This review is for the softball fields. I have not been to the other areas. Although very spacious, the grade of both fields are terrible. There is a serious slope towards center field nothing is level. We played on both fields and I think the south field is worst. This is a one and done for us. On the good side, parking is easy and it's patrolled very well by the Sheriff. read more

First time here... absolutely a great park! The splash is awesome for kids of all ages. Partially shaded, with lots of room of parents to sit nearby and supervise. The park has an enclosed shaded area with picnic tables, walking trail/path, and a lovely playground. Huge green lanscape, and lota of parking space. Just came here a couple days ago on a super hot day for the splash pad. I have two kids under 10 and it was perfect for them! It's FREE also! Parents can also enter to watch their little ones and get wet as well. Just b dressed accordingly because you will get wet lol. We spent about 2 hrs here and the water would sometimes turn off or the pressure wasn't strong enough. But for the most part it was fun! Will come back read more

This park used to be called Gunn park which I still call it that. It used to need a lot of help but they have re done the playground and added a lot here. It looks so much nicer and more appealing to come to. I take my daughter here to play on the playground and I like that the parking is so close to the playground. They have fields to play ball on and areas to walk around. Its a nice park to go to just walk or take the kids, even pets. read more

If I could walk my cat here in the morning, I probably would. But I can only seem to get my dog excited to come here, so that's who accompanies me on early morning walks. Tuesdays, they have a little Flea Market going on. My mother's always found interesting knick knacks there. PLUS They have Zumba classes here as well. In case you're tired of going to LA Fitness and being in such an overcrowded class, you might want to try this location as well! This place has a walking track around it which is pretty cool, 2 softball fields that are decent but bathrooms are gross. With some parks you dont really expect great bathrooms especially with it being an outdoor bathroom at a park but the handful of times Ive been here for my daughters softball practice or games I feel like Im using a prison bathroom, they dont tend to be cleaned as often during the day, maybe not at all. The plus...the corn guy comes by often and that will make me forget about the bathroom situation altogether, I can easily drive up the street somewhere to pee lol. read more

This is a great park! I have family that lives close by so we came here with the whole family. Its kept clean, its big and such a great place to spend the day. They have exercise equipment that everyone can use which is a great addition. Its big, so you didn't feel crowded or squished by other people. Can't wait to spend another day here! read more

We came here to beat the heat! I was looking for a water park and this turned out perfect because of the little shade area that they have where the water area is. There's a lot of shade area and the restrooms were clean which I liked very much because I hate for my kids to use park restrooms cuz there usually the most disgusting restrooms ever! We didn't play in the play area cuz it was to hot but i did notice this is one of the few parks that still has sand most parks have wood chips. read more

This park has had a few upgrades over the years. The most recent addition is the Splash Pad. It has a really nice variety of water fixtures and the design is cute. It was a nice shaded area and I like that there is also plenty of shade adjacent to it so parents can sit down and watch their kids without getting fried. The playground is still in pretty good shape. Even though it was hot the actual playground wasn't hot to the touch which is great. The park was clean, and there was plenty of shade. Adventure park has an amazing summer camp program. We just returned from an overnight camp with AP and it was so delightful. Mrs. Dingo and her awesome staff were so organized and so helpful and nurturing to all the kids. There was kayaking, nature walks, dragonboats, beach play and tons of great food. Nice neighborhood park. It has tons of green area, basketball court, walking trail, group picnic area, bathrooms, a playground, and a splash pad. The reason we checked out this park is because it is a hot October day and most splash pads are turned off by now, but this one is one of the few that is supposed to be running year round. Unfortunately for my kids, the day that we decide to check it out the splash pad decides to break right before we get there. The splash pad runs daily from memorial day to labor day and Fri-Mon from 11-4 from Oct-April. If you're going there for the splash pad maybe try calling before and asking if the splash pad is up and running. The playground doesn't have much shade so not ideal for super hot days, but it is a good size and suited for 2-12 year old. Over all the park seems clean, well maintained and not many sketchy people roaming around, at least non that I saw. read more

Love this park, super close to my home I recently moved to Whittier and it's walking distance! Their water park is awesome for the summer time. It's very nice and clean sweet staff and they hand out snacks and lunch for free sometimes. Many activities provided there too. I will miss it when I move out the city. read more

The ball fields are in serious need of maintenance....our travel softball team played there 2 weekends ago and the condition of the fields were horrid with holes and trenches....someone is bound to get hurt unless the fields get fixed read more

The splash pad is really great for the kids. I also really enjoyed the summer evenings in the park events that they had. It felt very safe and the police presence was a nice touch for some added good safe vibes. I would like to see them expand the playground area at some point with some more slides and things to do for the kids. read more
