Exterior This grocery store has had several iterations since…read moreI was a little girl. Piggly, Bi-Lo and a host of others that I can't remember. Same big, spacious parking lot. Interior The most recent owner has done some stuff to make it look more upscale, like faux interior wood flooring. Price / Value / Food I found some very good deals in the meat department. Unlike any of it's predecessors, they have Boar's Head deli meats. They have a hot bar with stuff like fried chicken, fried pork chops, mac & cheese. Apparently the offerings change daily but there's a schedule (ie fried fish on Fridays). Customer Service As usual, the customer service was top notch. The deli attendant made a mistake and sliced nearly 2.5 lbs of turkey instead of a quarter pound (0.25) and one night when I ventured in, someone from the deli had dished up portions of food and priced them without labeling the contents so the staff had no way of knowing if the containers contained sweet potato casserole, mac n cheese or what - but we all gotta give people grace in this day of struggle staffing. Overall I hope these guys stick around. They also own The Market (restaurant and seafood market).

There was fried fish and fried chicken on the buffet along with green beans, cabbage, Mac and cheese, rice, beans, biscuits etc with apple cobbler and ice cream for dessert. The shrimp here are excellent and always fresh. They do a dinner buffet on Friday and Saturday that has quite a bit of seafood on it as well as steaks, sausages, chicken etc. the dining room is just about always busy as it's a really popular place but the waitresses take good care of everyone. It is not a romantic spot or particularly good for small kids (crowded busy dining room with lots of people carrying buffet plates) but is perfect for people who want really good food at a good price and anyone who appreciated fresh shrimp.

The best thing was the fried shrimp and the shrimp in the shrimp boil. The deviled crab was not good.Sigh, I paid a huge amount of money and was so disappointed. The high rating and a hamburger craving brought us in today. My order of the Higher Bluff Burger in their Handheld section hit the spot. It was a double Patty burger with cheese, onion lettuce, tomato and topped with their made in house special sauce called Camp Fire Sauce. This came with a choice of my requested side of fries. The only thing that would have made this burger better would have been an in-season tomato slice and a large slice of Vidalia onion. But, it's December and I guess food suppliers get what they get, and we're months ago from the vegetable summer harvest. We enjoyed their onion rings with their homemade ring sauce, too. Service was quick and friendly. We will return when back in this lovely little historical Riverside city.
