I was on base to take care of somethings so decided to go by BX and saw Smiley's Kitchen Mediterranean Grill which had zero customers at that point, and decided to grab a beef/lamb wrap. There were two young men working and business was minimal. I ordered my wrap, paid for it and they said it would be ready shortly. I waited almost 20 minutes at a nearby table and finally went back up to the counter when I saw one of the guys eating in the cooking area, and the other just standing around doing nothing. When I asked where my $12 wrap was, he gave me some lame excuse about the heating plates needing to warm up. I was concerned that he had left it on the heater to long, but did not say anything. I took it and went back to my table. That kid had let the wrap sit inside that warmer likely the entire 20 minutes or so. The bottom side of the wrap was dark brown from over heating and the meat was dry...from to long heating. In an effort to make up for the mistake the kid grabbed a small baklava which likely cost you the owner. My concern is two-fold: 1. If your workers are this bad with minimal customers about 2pm on a Wednesday, imagine how they would be if they were busy. 2.) An acquaintance of mine some years ago owned a Blimpies sub shop. The 1st year he was there everything went fine, however in the 2nd year the owner was not there much and had teenagers running the place. By the end of the 2nd year he was out of business. I would strongly suggest you provide them with some firm guidance from you as the owner to these two employees, or simply fire them or with their attitudes you will be out of business as well. read more
