My friend and I came here for breakfast, We got seated fast and it's a typical diner ambience. I got the strawberry crepes and grapefruit juice and he got a platter. My friends platter looked delicious so I can't say much on that. My crepes however, had a very odd and unpleasant flavor that I couldn't put my finger on and were overly sweet. The strawberries were soggy and VERY watery and it was just like strawberry soup in my plate. I love local spots and don't want this place to lose to a corporate chain... so I just hope that the back of house finds better ways to present a crepe and provide better quality. Beez has lost its luster and after a few visits over the last 60 days, it just isn't good. There isn't an ounce of seasoning to be found on or in their dishes. A little salt and pepper in the kitchen can go a long ways. The food has become bland, bland, bland. This causes most everything on the plate to taste the same. Today's venture was the pork chops. Paper thin and cooked at too high of heat. The chops burn but the fat doesn't render and you're left with a greasy mess. I've avoided most meat products here as they just aren't good. At all. There are a couple redeeming values here. The biscuits and gravy are okay when you add some pepper. The scones are decent as well. Flavorless Cafe should be the name of this place - they missed the exit at Flavor-town! The most bland, unseasoned, boring food I have ever had. The hash browns were a crispy pile of mush that tasted like plain potato without salt. They charge for everything extra including LEMONS! $1.59 for 5 slices to be added to our water! Sign on door says service charge if you use you credit card. It's 2023 - increase your cost for the item on the menu and don't show the extra charge. My husband and I went back & forth on this rating. Service on drinks was great. His French dip had amazing flavor and the homemade French fries - plus a little salt - were great. My breakfast is the reason we are "one and done." 1. Pancakes came out first. Was so excited to try the 3 syrups they offered, but I never eat dessert (pancakes) first. 2. Pork chop was SUPER fatty, and advertised as marinated in special sauce, which I couldn't detect. 3. Eggs had no seasoning. 4. Breakfast potatoes had no seasoning. I do understand catering to an older clientele, which was obvious when we walked in, and was confirmed by our waitress, but flavorless is not an option. The thing that everyone needs to order from Beez Cafe are their scones. Scones in Utah are basically donuts, and they are phenomenal. Beez Café in Roy, UT. is your standard large café type restaurant along the lines of Denny's/Village Inn/JB's. In fact the building that Beez Café is currently in used to be a JB's restaurant many years ago. That being said, there is nothing wrong at all with that. Beez Café serves large portions of delicious food that comes out of their kitchen quickly, is hot and tasty and doesn't tear all the cash out from the inside of your wallet or purse and make you weep a little on the inside. As is common in these types of one-off restaurants, the waitresses are of the old-school diner variety meaning that they are sharp, quick-witted and smart-mouthed but fast and friendly at the same time and have probably been waitressing in diners and restaurants for years. My favorite kind of waitress!! If you get in their face about something, they will give it right back but with a wink and a smile! I have only had lunch here once, which was a burger that was cooked very well and had the standard accompaniments. Hot, fresh and delicious but not really remarkable in any way. I come here more for the breakfast. The breakfast at Beez Café is fantastic! We came here on a Sunday morning and were seated right away. We waited and waited and waited and waited and waited just to get coffee. We could clearly see the server that was intended for us was overwhelmed. What was aggravating is people who came in after us were served and eating and gone before we ever even got our food. There were other workers ... Like bus staff.....just walking around and they could have pitched in to help but didn't. My 3rd time here. It's your basic greasy spoon but they seem to be able to get my hashbrowns extra crispy and my eggs over medium, just right. And they are happy to do my coffee half decaf. I got the same waitress (Diane-2) and she remembered me and what we talked about. The real test will be when I order something with gravy (I'm super picky). My new roommate took me to this place for breakfast today after having a rather intoxicating get together last night. I ended up getting the country breakfast which is the home fries or hashbrowns. The scones are amazingly good but a little too sweet for my liking. The place is always busy on Saturday though so it definately gets some pretty good business. The place is very reasonably priced too and has an exstensive menu....not sure why. I don't see why you would have normal lunh/dinner food and then have sweet and sour chicken. Hmmm.... Making allowances for the looks and method of operation the food here is good. I can find no fault with either of the meals that my wife and I ordered. So we plan to return to try more of the menu. I have been going to Beez for quite some time. I've had breakfast/lunch/dinner here on numerous occasions. It's a convenience thing, and pretty reliable. Until last night. Normally, the waitresses are top-notch. Fast and attentive. But the one we were stuck with, a relative new hire, was awful. Took our orders without writing them down (as per her norm, it seems), and relayed them to the kitchen. Of course the orders came out wrong, and after calling her attention to it, she returned with a horrible remedy. She should have been embarrassed, but not with this one. The owner was seating people, so I called him over. Showed him what she had done, and he seemed indifferent. By this point, I was done with the place. He half-heartedly offered a replacement but I told him no, that I just wanted him to know what was going on. To his credit, he did bring out a replacement, but I was about finished with the meal. This place needs to be completely gutted and remodeled. It smells awful when you walk in, old fry oil, and the horrible smelling cleaning products they're using to try to cover it up. Completely ruins any food you try to eat because it's impossible to smell anything else. They have the same booths that were here when I was in high school over 20 years ago and it was a JB's that we used to hang out after football games.
