I purchased a new remote from a company and brought the remote to Smiley Locksmith. Upon meeting the man he informed me that I would be charged $150 for the programming and that it was not a guarantee that it would work. I told him I was willing to take that chance because I believed in him and that I thought the company I got the remote from was a reputable one. Upon completing his programming, he came in and said he was happy that I was probably right in that I used a reputable company for the remote. They are extremely nice and helpful. I needed a new key for my 2008 Honda Civic since my old key FOB had broken and the "insides" went missing. I originally called for them frantically since I could not find my spare key. Latoya was able to schedule someone to come out in a couple of hours. I then found the spare key so I called back to cancel the appointment and she understood completely and was not rude because I was cancelling the services. I didnt want to update this review because it makes you look worse. The blank I bought from you after you messed up my special order blank was also incorrectly cut. I was just going to go away but you had to defend your terrible shop. So let's recap. I brought my own "special order" blank, you miscut it and screwed it up. I then bought your blank on your recommendation, and you still cut it incorrectly. So that's twice you miscut a key, one on my blank and one on your own. To repeat, neither cut key matched the original! Just own up to your mistakes man. Accountability is what I wanted from my locksmith, not excuses a year after I visited your shop. Your business is an example of one that deserves to fail in a free market because it is just terrible: Terrible product, terrible service, incompetent employees, and management that doesn't own up to mistakes. I've since gotten another "special order" blank and got it cut accurately AND the first time, at a vending machine inside Publix. I bought my Ford Explorer about a year and a half ago. The fob that it came with never worked correctly. The Ford dealership was going to charge me about $450 to have a new one made. And I was gonna have to jump through hoops to get an appointment, yada yada yada... Fast forward to a year and a half later, my coworker told me about this place. I must have driven by it 10,000 times over the last 30 years, and never looked in that direction. Latoya grabbed this old thing, and made me two new ones, and showed me a couple cool tricks with the fob. Took her less than 30 minutes. I went into Smiley locksmith in Ft Lauderdale, on Oakland today. The owner met us with a smile on his face and prompt service. He cut a new car key for our 2014 malibu and programmed the fob, all in about 6 minutes!!! I'm sure a dealership would have been 3x's the price, and who knows how long of a wait time. The name is Smiley Locksmith and I'm not sure if bears the name Smiley because of the name of the owner or the two face smiling gentlemen I met when getting some keys made. I inadvertently stumbled upon this place while looking for some additional car key blanks. I had purchased one from my car dealer for the astonishingly high price of $28.00 and thought I had gotten robbed, which I quickly found out I had because I got the exact same identical key at Smiley Locksmith for $8.00, and what's more, unlike the car dealer, he cut the key too. I also purchased some other key blanks for my condo & etc. which were much less expensive than I would pay at any hardware store and the best part is that they were all perfectly cut and removed of any of those cutting burrs most other key cutters fail to remove. The best part however is in their stock. When it comes to keys, they seem to have it all; a vast assortment of varying key blanks along with car remotes & etc. I found Smiley Locksmith to be the best locksmith store I've ever dealt with and because of that, I'm going Five Stars. read more

These other reviews must be paid for considering how poorly this business has treated my family. My mother went in to ask them to fix a key that they had supposedly fixed several months ago. They gave varying excuses as to why the key was broken -- blaming everyone from my mother to the key manufacturer in order to avoid accepting responsibility for shoddy work. That was bad enough, but then the customer service representative called my mother a LIAR, and told her to STOP TALKING, because "every word that comes out of her mouth is a lie." Even if they didn't want to accept responsibility for a broken key, who in their right mind speaks to customers in that way?? Not that anyone in my family would ever try to patronize this business again, but this front desk worker with zero authority then tried to ban my mother from the store. I was dreading having a key made for my truck since everything I read online said I needed to have my second key(which I didn't have) in order to do it yourself...then some keys wouldn't activate certain features like puddle lights, etc. The dealership wanted to charge dealership prices but I thought I was stuck.
