They then called me the morning of the appointment to tell me they can't make the fob only the key but it will still be the same price. They then proceeded to show up and take one look at the lock only to tell me they can't make a key for it. They take advantage of the desperate situation the customer is, and they know very well to exploit the customers. The initial quote to replace my business door lock was $ 140. When the technician actually arrived, he said the price would be $ 200 with which I agreed. After another 10 minutes, the technician said that more pieces were missing and that the job would be $ 325. I have a safe box with a drawer. The drawer was not opening correct. I took pictures of the drawer and the rails with the wheels. I went to the store and showed the pictures to an employee and he told me they have to come and look at the safe. When the technician came he look at it and told me that the rails were not reparable. Then he wanted to charge me for a service call (no problem) but then he added to the bill parts and labor. Of course there were NO PARTS OR LABOR INVOLVED. I had to call the manager and he still wanted to charge P&L. I told him I was not paying except for the service call. It was very FRUSTATING. That is UNACEPTABLE. I called Richards come out to cut a lock off a cabinet. It turned out that the lock was a huge super secure lock, so the Richard's guy either did not want to cut it off or couldn't cut it off. So I asked him to replace the hasp on the cabinet and put another lock just like the hasp and lock that were on there. He replaced the hasp with a small rinky-dink hasp that I could even jimmy. The lock was 1/3 the size of the previous lock and not nearly as secure. Moreover, he tried to steal my super-secure lock and my housekeeper had to ask him repeatedly where it was. He had it in his truck and he told her that there was no way she could use it again, why did she want it? He finally agreed to bring it back to the house. I went to Richard's on 9/16/21 to complain and they told me the manager was not in, but he would call me. It's now 10/16/21 and I have never gotten a call. read more

Terrible!! Will never use again. Thought I had a broken lock on my grandfather clock. Locksmith came out and discovered the door was just stuck and the lock wasn't broken. He sprayed WD 40 on lock anyway. $65 house call which I understand. Plus $42 for labor???? Spraying WD40 which I didn't even ask to have done on a non broken lock. Total rip off!!! Stay away !! My recent experience with Richards Locksmith will be my last. I have used them before and they were ok but this time my experience was horrible. I ordered new hardware that came in wrong. Then when the new hardware came in two men came over to install on my front door. The two men made no effort to cover floor or keep home clean beacuse they had to drill holes. What a mess!! My front door was recently faux painted and they were made aware of this. They were very careless and damaged my door in multiple places. They showed no concern and offered no apology either. There are many locksmiths in town. The people at the store on Sample Road were very professional in every way. I had a spare key made for a newly purchased used car. It had a chip in it, and therefore needed more than a key-making kiosk to accomplish making a copy. The staff was pleasant and efficient. I have actually never given a bad review. Until now....... I have a 1910 Victor Safe. I live right down the street from Richards Locksmith and SAFE so I thought they would be a good option.... Boy was I wrong! I stopped in first to get a price and tell them about the safe , I was told a service call was $60,00 and if they couldn't get it to open I would be charged extra to drill it open if I chose that option. When the technician came he told me he had never heard of this kind of safe.... umm ok?? He could not get it open using the combination ...He told me it was $85.00 an HOUR to drill it open and he could not me how long that would take. I told him thanks but no thanks and I would pay him $60.00 for the service call. He told me plus tax. I said fine... He goes out to the truck and brings back a bill of $108.00, you know for the labor.... What? I called the owner (Jack)and was told that was correct and he couldn't understand why I was upset. Really? The technician was here a total of 25 minutes and didn't open the safe and charged $108.00 !!!! I have lived in Coral Springs for 20 years and this is the worst experience I have ever had with a business here.... I feel totally ripped off and taken advantage of, Beware.... read more

TERRIBLE!! Stay Away!! Used them previously when we purchased our home in September 2019, spending hundreds of dollars for new locks throughout. One of the (electronic) locks turned out to be defective and was replaced by the manufacturer (Kwikset). Calling the locksmith I had been provided a firm quotation for the time to "swap out" the two locking systems however, upon completion of the work, the fees were much, much, higher. Additionally the technician, who seemed unsure of himself, left all sorts of dirt and metal debris all over the front porch area (no cleanup whatsoever). When I challenged the fees he said that this was "per Jack" the manager. Calling Jack he advised me that the additional costs were due to the re-keying the new lock to accept the current keys. I explained that this (Kwikset) lock had the SMART KEY reset function and that, when they came out last year, we'd not been charged. His answer "you didn't buy the new lock from us this time". Really? These people are MONEY GRABBING crooks who will NEVER GET OUR BUSINESS AGAIN!! Avoid them like the plague!! read more

I have an old safe, I don't know anything about safes. Aside from they are heavy! I called a few other locksmiths and was told, it's old, it's not worth the repair and to get a new one. I wanted to be sure. So I took it to Richards. Was told if the keypad needed to be replaced it could cost up to $200.00 They fixed it in a day, and only charged me $15.00!!! I was stunned.... I couldn't believe it! I went in to pick it up and it was $15.00!! They also printed me the manual for the safe!! Could not be happier, they are honest and experts in their field. Had Richard locksmith re-key my lock. Before they came out they game me a price and told me the lock could get re-keyed. However, they were not able to re-key the lock but he still charged a service charge even though they did nothing to the lock. Stay away they like to get paid for doing nothing. read more

They were very prompt and professional in answering my phone call and inquiries. Initially we only needed the lock fixed on our main entrance but then upon inspecting the new house further, realized that we needed a couple of other things done too. We also needed the lock on our shed door fixed and on our fence too. The technician was on time and only took about a half hour for everything. their copies of keys actually work. which doesn't sound like a big deal except that most other places can't seem to manage it. they also come to your house and re-key locks when necessary, and do so in a timely manner and for a reasonable price. bottom line: they do what they're supposed to do, it works, and their prices are competitive. read more
