Dr Herring is super kind and takes the time to listen to all of my concerns. All of his staff is super friendly and kind. Jennifer is the hygienist that cleaned my teeth and I must say is an Angel! Super sweet and always take extra steps to make sure I am comfortable since I told her I was terrified of the dentist with my past terror experiences somewhere else where. She was empathetic and did such a great job making sure everything was tip top! Morgan was such educational and knowledgeable! Honestly they have an A team there and treat you like family with care and support. Over the course of my treatment, Dr. Ravi and his incredible team restored my smile with 18 crowns and 2 bridges. That's a huge amount of dental work, and I can honestly say it has been the best dental experience of my life. The crowns came back SO FAST and the temporaries looked and felt great. From start to finish I got almost all my teeth done in just a matter of days. If you're someone who gets anxious about going to the dentist, this is the office you've been looking for. They don't just say they care about keeping you comfortable--they prove it. They constantly checked to make sure I wasn't in pain, explained everything before they did it, and even brought me a warm blanket during my appointments so I would be comfortable. They offered services to me without telling me that it is not covered by my insurance and did not quote for me that it would cost extra. I have several thousand dollars' worth of what I believe to be unneeded services that I now have to pay for. I asked for a statement of the services they provided my family and the itemized statement I received is impossible to decipher without having a working knowledge of dental codes, so it's a whole lot of work for me to identify what I am being charged for. I think that Carus Dental's lack of transparency means something. In addition, I ask for a pre-certification for an additional crown that the practice was recommending. I asked, because on the first crown they did for me this year they told me that according to my insurance, I would pay $100. Not even close. They told me, again, that according to my insurance I would pay $100 for this new crown. I insisted I needed this pre-certified. They told me that pre-certifications take up to five weeks. So, I say okay, I can wait. Did they ever get the precertification for me? No. I believe that the tooth was not in need of a crown, at this time, and therefore insurance was not going to approve. OR, maybe, Carus Dental does not want to do business with someone they can no longer up-sale.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this dental office. I originally went in…read morefor a routine cleaning, and during that appointment the dentist reminded me that I needed to replace my crown. Trusting the office, I immediately scheduled the procedure. What was never disclosed to me was that the dentist who prepared the crown would be out of the office for almost the entire month of June and was apparently the ONLY dentist allowed to place the permanent crown once it arrived. While in Dallas caring for my mother after her stroke, my temporary crown broke. I had to drive 3.5 hours back to Austin just to have another temporary crown placed -- despite the fact that my permanent crown was already in the office and ready. I was told another dentist could not place it because the original dentist was unavailable. I then had to immediately drive back to Dallas after that Saturday appointment, only for the second temporary crown to break the very next day. The office had provided an "extra" temporary crown in case that happened, but when I attempted to use it, it did not fit properly. I called the office first thing Monday morning. Today is Wednesday, and I still have not received a call back from the office manager. I now have to make yet another 3.5-hour drive back to Austin just to get another temporary crown, while being told the dentist cannot see me until next week -- even though my permanent crown is sitting there ready. What has been most upsetting is the complete lack of compassion and flexibility from the office manager. I explained multiple times that I am in Dallas helping care for my mother after a stroke, yet there seemed to be no concern whatsoever for the hardship this situation has caused. Dental work is stressful enough without having to deal with poor communication, lack of transparency, repeated temporary crown failures, and an office that seems unwilling to work with patients facing difficult personal circumstances.
