Dr Herring is super kind and takes the time to listen to all of my concerns. All of his staff is super friendly and kind. Jennifer is the hygienist that cleaned my teeth and I must say is an Angel! Super sweet and always take extra steps to make sure I am comfortable since I told her I was terrified of the dentist with my past terror experiences somewhere else where. She was empathetic and did such a great job making sure everything was tip top! Morgan was such educational and knowledgeable! Honestly they have an A team there and treat you like family with care and support. I'm so grateful to find such a wonderful dental practice and I honestly can't believe I'm saying this but look forward to coming back lol They create a very calm environment and I love that I can watch the birds and squirrels as I lay in the dentist chairs. Definitely helps me with the anxiety of being at the dentist lol Would I recommend Elgin Family Dental? In fact, YES and I have already recommended this dentist to a few of my friends :). If you're looking for not a good dentist but great dentist, I highly recommend Elgin Family Dental. Attentive, caring, and lays out options to you and let you decide. I love the easy of it and not feeling pressured like other dental practices in town.

When we called they said Medicare Advantage didn't tell them how much they would pay. So we called the insurance. They said they are not in network so they paid less. Never did they tell my husband they would pay less. Today the dentist office said they won't tell us what they pay but they will tell you. Why not tell us that and we could have called the insurance! And then I say why is the balance different and she says it is for a balance on a 330.00 cleaning in January that the insurance didn't completely cover! Why would you charge that for a cleaning and why not tell me I have a balance when I go in for my crown. Unfortunately we are now looking for a new dentist. :(

She took the time to explain what was going on with my tooth and why it was necessary to retreat my root canal. Immediately upon reviewing my CBCT image she saw that the original dentist missed a canal. (Original one was done 20+ years ago, when the technology was not near advanced as it is today.) She explained this is more common than you would think because these canals are so tiny and can branch off. Root canals are often why people dread the dentist. I can honestly say that this was done with zero discomfort. She was able to remove the old material, locate and clean the extra canal and complete the procedure within an hour. So methodical, precise and efficient. I honestly wish there were more practitioners like her out there! Fabulous work. Thank YOU!

I went in on a Friday and was seen for my root canal on a wendseday the next week. I was seen by Dr. Meenal McNary D.D.S. she was great... very informative and walk you through everything that she will be doing for your teeth. I felt like I was in good hands. Being that this was first root canal ever. I had a Crack in my tooth and she was still able to safe the tooth instead of pulling it. Would highly recommend this Dr. The main reason I did not give all stars is. Be prepared for a sticker shock on what needs to get done. As this place is completely out of network with insurances. They do there best to work with insurance but more than 70% comes out of pocket. My tooth was in bad shape and seeing how I was reffered there. I felt like I could not go anywhere else. I no we have choice but with life happening and time which who has that now days. I choose to go here.

I went to Oakwood to see Dr. Lin after receiving a bad root canal and crown from another dentist. I…read morewas extremely nervous and honestly pretty upset because I had been dealing with pain and complications for almost a year. I'll even admit I walked in with a bit of an attitude -- I was frustrated, in pain, and had already spent a lot of money trying to fix the issue. From the moment I arrived, the Oakwood staff immediately put me at ease. Everyone was professional, kind, and incredibly accommodating. They were knowledgeable and took the time to really listen to my concerns. Dr. Lin performed a full exam and asked detailed questions about how the previous dentist had completed the procedure. We both came to the conclusion that the previous dentist likely didn't use a safety cover (rubber dam), which allowed an infection to develop under the tooth. What impressed me the most was how thorough Dr. Lin was. The practice has a 3D X-ray machine that my insurance didn't cover, but instead of retreating the tooth blindly, Dr. Lin offered to waive the fee so he could get a clear and accurate picture of the infection area before moving forward. On the day of the procedure, everything was on time and the treatment was done comfortably with no pain. As I walked out of the building, I told my husband I could already feel the pain starting to decrease. By the very next day I was partially eating on that side, and within four days the pain I had been dealing with for almost a year was completely gone. I am incredibly grateful and so thankful for the Oakwood team and Dr. Lin. If you're nervous about dental work or dealing with complications from another dentist, I highly recommend them.

Not realizing how serious it was, I called Oakwood to schedule the consultation and after a few questions they were able to move my appointment up and squeeze me in almost immediately. From the moment I called them, I sensed that they genuinely care about their patients. They provided a clear, honest, easy-to-read estimate for the services. Come day of, I was nervous because root canals have such a negative connotation. The receptionist, the assistant (I believe her name was Lily) and Dr. B exceeded all expectations and made the scary experience extremely comfortable and pain free. The office is very nice and clean and I enjoy that the patient chairs look out a window. Dr. B was very kind, professional, efficient and explained everything thoroughly. I'll even add a bonus...in the aftercare paperwork, they provided his personal cell in case I have any questions or concerns after hours. Let me tell you...I had a procedure once that occurred on a Friday evening before closing and the office is closed on weekends. I got home only to find that the blood wasn't clotting from the procedure so I was bleeding excessively from my mouth for HOURS (almost 9 hours to be exact). I was about to go to the ER when it finally stopped, but in those hours I just wished I had a line of communication to the office staff or dentist to advise me on what to do. The fact that Dr. B provided his number goes to show the level of care you can expect at Oakwood.

Sure, I have raced Ironman, fought MMA, and routinely bit into Geno's Pizza Rolls straight outta the microwave without letting them cool off. I'm a self-proclaimed beast of a man. But this was different. This was a dreaded ROOT CANAL. The big bopper of dental pain. Drills. Drills galore - all medieval shapes and sizes. More drilling than West Texas and the Middle East combined. There were no puppy dogs & rainbows here folks. This was to be 2-3 hours of clutching the armrests and hoping I didn't scream like a little girl. Am I painting you a pretty picture here? Enter Dr. Roh. OK she seems nice. I scanned her CV - she trained at Columbia. Ivy League - that's impressive. Like Good Will Hunting impressive, right? Anyone's mom would agree that's a fantastic school. Well, I'll be honest between her expertise and the copious amounts of nitrous oxide, the entire procedure was a breeze. 2-3 hours of listening to Enya and this cowboy was drifting off daydreaming and doing interpretive dance in my head. It's a miracle. Dr. Roh is THAT good. Kudos to the entire team at South Austin Microendodontics - y'all are simply amazing.
