I went to Oakwood to see Dr. Lin after receiving a bad root canal and crown from another dentist. I was extremely nervous and honestly pretty upset because I had been dealing with pain and complications for almost a year. I'll even admit I walked in with a bit of an attitude -- I was frustrated, in pain, and had already spent a lot of money trying to fix the issue. From the moment I arrived, the Oakwood staff immediately put me at ease. Everyone was professional, kind, and incredibly accommodating. They were knowledgeable and took the time to really listen to my concerns. Dr. Lin performed a full exam and asked detailed questions about how the previous dentist had completed the procedure. We both came to the conclusion that the previous dentist likely didn't use a safety cover (rubber dam), which allowed an infection to develop under the tooth. What impressed me the most was how thorough Dr. Lin was. The practice has a 3D X-ray machine that my insurance didn't cover, but instead of retreating the tooth blindly, Dr. Lin offered to waive the fee so he could get a clear and accurate picture of the infection area before moving forward. On the day of the procedure, everything was on time and the treatment was done comfortably with no pain. As I walked out of the building, I told my husband I could already feel the pain starting to decrease. By the very next day I was partially eating on that side, and within four days the pain I had been dealing with for almost a year was completely gone. I am incredibly grateful and so thankful for the Oakwood team and Dr. Lin. If you're nervous about dental work or dealing with complications from another dentist, I highly recommend them. read more

The young lady at the front was an angel. She was helpful, kind and went out of her way for me. I saw Dr. Derek Lin who was ok. Not as warm and helpful. I had to ask a couple of times to get a better explanation and opinion. I wanted a referal to a clinic my family had refered to before used that was execellent. He said he was friends with someone else. When I questioned the friends part, he changed it to colleagues. Since he didn't do any thing but advise me, I can only speak to his demeanor. Having been in pain for a few days trying to find someone to help me, I needed some compassion and only got it at the front desk. read more

I was referred to Dr. B by my general dentist after discovering an infected tooth that would require a root canal through a crown. Not realizing how serious it was, I called Oakwood to schedule the consultation and after a few questions they were able to move my appointment up and squeeze me in almost immediately. From the moment I called them, I sensed that they genuinely care about their patients. They provided a clear, honest, easy-to-read estimate for the services. Come day of, I was nervous because root canals have such a negative connotation. The receptionist, the assistant (I believe her name was Lily) and Dr. B exceeded all expectations and made the scary experience extremely comfortable and pain free. The office is very nice and clean and I enjoy that the patient chairs look out a window. Dr. B was very kind, professional, efficient and explained everything thoroughly. I'll even add a bonus...in the aftercare paperwork, they provided his personal cell in case I have any questions or concerns after hours. Let me tell you...I had a procedure once that occurred on a Friday evening before closing and the office is closed on weekends. I got home only to find that the blood wasn't clotting from the procedure so I was bleeding excessively from my mouth for HOURS (almost 9 hours to be exact). I was about to go to the ER when it finally stopped, but in those hours I just wished I had a line of communication to the office staff or dentist to advise me on what to do. On 6/10, I had a root canal performed at Oakwood Endodontics. The procedure itself was not terrible but unfortunately over the next couple of days, more pain than what I thought was normal occurred. I called the office and explained and was told the doctor was out of the office and someone would call back. A few hours later, due to the pain, I called again and was told he had just responded and sent in a prescription for a steroid. While I was taking the medication, the pain was tolerable but I was also alternating Tylenol and Advil around the clock. I again called Oakwood Endodontics for some advice/help but did not get immediate help but I was able to get into my amazing dentist instead. While there, my dentist noticed something on the X-ray and said I would need to return to Dr. Bjarnason as it looked like one canal had been completely missed. While I was sitting in the dentist's chair, Oakwood staff called back and told me to wait it out another two weeks. I told them that was not going to be possible due to the amount of pain I was in. Luckily, my dentist called and was able to get me an appointment. Once back at Oakwood, I explained how even drinking room temperature water was extremely painful. My concerns were dismissed as a "flare up" even though it had now been two weeks since the actual procedure. I called my dentist office back, as I knew this was not a normal pain from getting over a root canal, and was able to get a referral for another endodontist. Two other endodontists easily saw the missed canal upon examinations. Finally, mid-July, I was able to get it fixed and end the pain I had all summer long. As a teacher, we try to stuff all the medical appointments into our summer break. I started this soon after school was out and had my final appointment to fix the filling today, the week before school starts. For the record, if you have to have a root canal fixed right after insurance pays for it, the second go-round will NOT be covered by your insurance. read more

I took my wife for root canal here and it has been exceptional experience. It took us a while to get there but the facility is beautiful, very well maintained and has amenities like a coffee bar. Doctors and nurses were very very kind and explained the process to us thoroughly and made us feel ok opting out of certain procedures. Dr.B provided great care and made the whole experience as painless as possible, I dont know if they do regular cleanings as well because I definitely want to come here again. read more

Me and my family are new to Georgetown and I was referred to Dr. Bjarnason to do a root canal and put a crown on. My visit with him was excellent and his staff was amazing. After the root canal he put my crown on and told me that the cement he was using was temporary and to go see my regular dentist to have him put the crown on permanent with permanent cement. He took me in short notice as I was scheduled to travel later that evening and needed my root canal done before I got on a plane. Well unfortunately I did not get in to my regular dentist for the permanent cement because I had been traveling. So fast forward to today a couple months later. My crown came off which was my fault for not getting it permanently on by my other dentist. I called Dr. Bjarnason who gave me his cell number in case of an emergency after my root canal. He did not have to see me on a Saturday but I told him I was flying out again today and if he could I would appreciate it. Dr. Bjarnason took time away from his family and met me at his office to put my crown back on. This level of service to his patient was just way beyond amazing and appreciated. I can't recommend him enough for his great work on my tooth and helping me in need. Oh and the root canal was a painless and easy process with him. My Georgetown dentist suggested I contact Oakwood Edodontics and I was given a prompt appointment. Dr. B evaluated my 94 yr/old mom's front tooth after her general DDs said it was infected. The entire staff took such good care of her, spoke clearly, got her a neck pillow, and put her at ease. Dr. B and his staff are wonderful. I had a painless root canal. He had to clean up a 15 year old root canal because of an infection, remove the old root canal, used a machine to thoroughly cleanse the canal, and redid it. The tooth had a crown on it and he merely punctured a hole in the crown instead of having to remove it, then in put a temporary filling (until I can get to my regular dentist next week). Unbelievable experience! I had two consultations prior to coming to Dr. Bjarnason and both previous consolation said there was nothing they could do to save my front tooth and the only recommendation they suggested was to pull the tooth and get an implant. I cried and felt hopeless. I did not want to come to Dr. Bjarnason initially thinking it was going to be like the first two recommendations. Not the case here, He made me feel very welcomed and explained everything clearly and said he would do everything he could to save my tooth if that's the route I wanted to take. He performed the procedure and by the Grace of God it was complete. I would recommend Dr.Bjarason to anyone because he does not just "think in the box" but far beyond the box. Also he was not in my network for my dental insurance but his prices were very affordable so you can tell his practice is here to help people. Experiencia increíble! Not a good experience. I still have pain several months after my root canal.

My regular dentist Dr. Patrick Bell of Marketplace Smiles (who is an awesome General Dentist in every way with a super office staff) checked my painful tooth after I called him on a Saturday and said after the Monday's close inspection that I needed a root canal. Because it was special issue having been under a 4-tooth Bridge/Crown that had cost me $4,000 some years back, he recommended the best Endodontist in the region- Dr. Spencer Bjarnason. Dr. B took me in right away because it was painful. When in his chair I did not feel any anesthesia picks and the root canal was over before I knew it. Dr. B has all the latest Endodontic technical equipment which made it feel no different from a regular filling. I was very pleasantly surprised that everything went very very well, and painlessly. It's been 2 months since that time and the tooth and bridge/crown are doing very well, and he saved the bridge in its entirety. He worked with me on the cost of the procedure, too. The office and assisting staff were very warm and professional. I will definitely come back to Dr. Bjarnason's Oakwood Endodontics with my next dental issue. I heartily suggest that you do the same and you will be very happy that you did. ( I wish all dental work could be performed like this one). read more
