Dr. Dabney appeared to be knowledgeable and experienced. I had 3 children that received orthodontic treatment from him. Two of them had minor dental issues and ended up fine. My third child had major orthodontic issues. Toward the end of his treatment, Dr. Dabney sold his practice and was moving to another city. He would come in only once a month to finish up the cases that he still had at this location. I knew that he had quickly ended my son's treatment because of this but his teeth looked nice so I wasn't worried. HOWEVER...several months later my son had x-rays done for a normal exam with the dentist that bought Dr. Dabney's practice. this dentist mention my son's I teeth still being up in his gums. I was shocked as this had never been discussed with me by Dr. Dabney and it sounded like something that could cause him issues later in life should they begin to emerge from his gums. I questioned this new dentist as to why he would have done that and he just said "I don't know." This raised an eyebrow for me. The new dentist also mentioned some molars that my son had that were coming in sideways and gave me a referral for him to have them extracted by an oral surgeon. Needless to say, I went to another dentist to get a second opinion about what I had seen. This newest dentist was speechless when he saw my sons x-rays. The first thing out of his mouth was "Now WHO did his dental work??" He also stated that certainly his teeth had an acceptable appearance and he supposed that could have been seen as an acceptable treatment plan but he didn't know what other dentist would have agreed with that. The reason being that, apparently, the incisors are very important teeth when it comes to having a proper bite and not having issues later in life. He explained further that the bicuspids should be sacrificed if there needs to be room made for the incisors and that Dr. Dabney had chosen instead to sacrifice the incisors and keep the bicuspids. My son is now going to have to have braces again for another 2 years and further oral surgery and pain and suffering....Needless to say, I'll be contacting a malpractice attorney and Dr. Dabney will be hearing from them soon enough! DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!! read more
