Being positive about dental visits isn't a common thing for me, but yeah, this place works. Just before Christmas week a crown fell out of my mouth; I needed it fixed fast if I was going to enjoy those holiday goodies. After reaching out to several highly rated dentists near me on line, only Rivery got back to me, and in just a couple of hours. I was lucky to get an appointment that same day. Dr Lee and Raegan took care of me and I got in the chair right at the appointed time and we started to work. Long story short even though the crown I needed help with is older than Dr Yee he calmly proceeded to work with various components to get that crown ready to get back (firmly!) on that post. Without going into any more detail let me just say if you're calm and collected while working on my teeth, well then, I'm going to be calm and collected. He and Raegan tag teamed to keep me up to date on the progress and the prognosis yet chill while I was a reclining on that dental chair. Cool dental visit. Should you try them? Yes. I've been going to Rivery Dental for over a year now and that's the longest time I've gone steady with a dental practice. This is the first time in my life where I don't completely dread going to the dentist for all the various reasons. I love Rivery Dental! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by Candace and Lara who are both very kind and knowledgeable. They will help you with any questions you might have, have flexible payment options (ask about Cherry-this has been a lifesaver and has allowed me to tackle all my dental problems without fear of cost) and are amazing with scheduling- for example, I've had a lot of work done recently and if something is bothering me or needs an adjustment, they get me in as soon as they can and follow up with me to see how I'm doing if I can't get into the office immediately. They always ask you how your life is, which is nice. They are the frontline to making going to the dentist not so bad. Once you get in, you'll probably meet Lessli or Reagan, your dental assistants. Both girls are professional and kind. Lessli also takes the time to see how you're doing and that simple gesture goes a long way in helping keep you calm sometimes when you're about to get work done. Dr. Yi has been taking care of me over the past year and I'm very grateful for him. He keeps up with the Rivery standard of treating patients with care and kindness. My favorite thing about him is that he's never made me feel bad or feel like we can't handle what I've got wrong. I have never been a huge fan of the dentist. My children never have either in their short lives (4 & 5) However, this place is exceptional for children! My kids ask to go to the dentist now. The staff in Georgetown were helpful in ensuring I got rescheduled to the correct location quickly. Once we made our correct appointment, the staff was professional and provided all the important services and a detailed plan for future services. I hesitated to post this having seen all the positive reviews, which originally convinced us to come in. So, I paid to have a second opinion before posting this review to be as fair as possible. However, having the same thing happen to both my wife and I, back-to-back, at the same location, convinced me to write this. Short version: Would not recommend. GOOD: everyone was friendly, appointment began on time, scheduling was easy, office was nice. BAD: Either some level of incompetence, or the office is seeking ways to increase revenue rather than provide good service. Dental cleaning did not seem to be thorough and felt rushed. Albeit friendly with the patients, a degree of unprofessionalism amongst staff in front of patients. Long Version: Our Background: Wife and I have good dental hygiene; brush/floss daily. Don't skimp on dental hygiene; with cleanings about every six months, and in my case from the same reputable dentist for the last 10 years. We tried a Rivery because I was tired of driving to my regular in Houston that I'd used since 2010. The Visit: Things started off well. On-time, X-ray's were quick; until we got to the periodontal exam where they do the gum measurements next to each tooth. Even though there was nothing worse than maybe 3 or 4 "5's", I suddenly noted a change in their tone, maybe prepping me mentally for a "deep clean" ($200-$300?) that might require anesthesia, that they claimed I needed. They mentioned some cavities; implying they were recent (prior dentist confirmed no fillings in last ten yrs). The hygienist says they need to see if my insurance will cover it. I told them it was doubtful, but I'd do it if it was. Thinking worst case scenario, I just get a cleaning, I waited over 30 min in the chair, and finally it came back as not covered. Since this now felt like a cash grab, and I had great dental history over the last ten years, I declined. Unexpectedly, they take off the bib and get me ready to leave. Confused, I ask about the cleaning. They said they couldn't do it since I opted out of the deep clean. This was not explained to me before. By then I'd been there nearly an hour. I reiterated that I wanted a cleaning as I travel a lot for work and it's not easy to schedule time to come in. After more back and forth and checking with the dentist they agreed to do it if I signed a waiver that I refused the deep clean. Then they got one of the hygienists, who had talked openly about being on her way out, to stay to do mine. The cleaning did not seem as thorough as previous ones but was passable to me. However, my wife had a worse experience, because she went through the same thing about the deep clean, but over the course of a 1.5hrs; then was told no one could do the cleaning. She too had to insist on it. Finally, they reluctantly agreed, but said hers was rushed. The Second Opinion: I returned to my frequented Houston dentist where I paid to have a periodontal exam. She did the exam and took x-rays. She said in her professional opinion, she did not see reason for a deep clean and would not have recommended it. In my attempt to be objective, I asked if she would reject a routine cleaning if I skipped a deep clean; and she said yes, explaining why. So Rivery was correct there. Thoughts: Either the person making the decision on the deep cleaning has set a lower standard than other dentists for pushing someone to get one, or there is a push to get people into it to generate more income. Communications with patients. Assuming Rivery acted with good intentions, they should be clear and upfront with the patient; and should state clearly that if opting out of the deep clean, a regular cleaning will not be done. Communications among staff. It's an open dental area, we can hear everything. It sounded like there were disagreements or confusion among the staff. I also noted some push back from a hygienist to a dentist at one point. It's disconcerting to the patient and impact the impression of the quality of care. read more

1. Dr Michelle Wang spent about 3 hours trying to extract my tooth, but failed, causing me to have a toothache for over 6 months. During the 3 hour extraction, she gave me multiple doses of anesthesia, which made my heart feel bad. 2. My appointment was cancelled without notice because I complained about the 10-day reminder in Michelle Wang's office. 3. Patients must confirm appointments within no less than 24 hours to avoid the $25 cancellation fee. No other doctor's office ever has such a penalty. read more

DR wong recommended several procedures which we followed but soon after every visit we would encounter a new doctor with another set of recommendations conflicting with DR Wong's original recommendations . We got a second and third opinion on the latest recommended procedures and they did not agree with expensive procedures recommended by Rivery dental . I put a lot of faith in Yelp reviews; however, there are times when an experience doesn't meet expectations. As a businessman, I recognize some days services are better at performing the tasks and at times they fall short. My first impression and greeting were very reassuring; however, I experienced what appeared to be some confusion exacerbated by an unreasonable and frustrating long wait between visits by staff. Finally, the Dr. appeared and took a look at my tooth that lasted no more than two minutes. I received no explanation and after another frustrating wait, I received a prescription and checked out which cost a little over $100 for X-rays and a brief visit by the Dentist. They have a special laser it does the magic work Especially for the little ones most dentist wants to the general anesthesia or drinking stuff and laughing mask ,I can't tell u how much we stressed out for our 2 years old daughter in the past when the dentist put her under general anesthesia so much risk involves and as a parent u do not want to do that to your child's. I have a really bad reaction to numbing agents so Ive been really excited about laser dentistry since the claim is you won't need anesthesia or numbing! I was incredibly disappointed when I called to make an appt with Rivery for laser dental procedures and was told they still numb you for laser! What's the point then?? I also asked if they could accommodate me since I have a vestibular disorder and cannot lay flat, and the front desk receptionist immediately said no, we can't help you. She didn't even ask the dentist. My last dentist would lay me back as far as I could go and stand up to get the right angle. Rivery said they would need to sedate me, lay me back flat, and use lidocaine even for laser dentistry, all of which will make how I feel alit worse for several days. I'm so tired of medical or dental professionals doing things one way only that works for them and not considering the other things the patient might have going on. read more

I was able to get an appointment quickly though all I needed was routine care that had been delayed by Covid-19. The office staff was friendly and informative. I was received on time, had the preliminary X-rays and was seen by the dentist right afterward. The fee was exactly as estimated ahead of time and my treatment plan was carefully explained and prioritized appropriately. I am very pleased with the dentist and staff's sensitive care and I will return for treatment. I also got guidance on dental insurance (I have none) as well as an explanation of the office's "in house" Discount Dental Plan. New to the Georgetown area and I feel like I lucked out finding this dental office! The staff is wonderful, and Dr. Wang is too! She did not try to talk me into having my wisdom teeth extracted (I am way beyond even "early" adulthood) and actually explained why it might not be a good idea - unless they started giving me problems. Starla at the front desk is wonderfully patient, and very thorough in explaining billing and different options to me. Their office is not the fanciest (I'd never had x-rays while sitting in the chair) - but their service more than makes up for it. They even have Saturday appointments - which is a real plus!!!
