I saw Dr Meenal McNary for a retreat root canal tooth. She is hands down, top notch the best Endo specialist I've ever seen. She is so comforting, brilliant and a master of her profession. She took the time to explain what was going on with my tooth and why it was necessary to retreat my root canal. Immediately upon reviewing my CBCT image she saw that the original dentist missed a canal. (Original one was done 20+ years ago, when the technology was not near advanced as it is today.) She explained this is more common than you would think because these canals are so tiny and can branch off. Root canals are often why people dread the dentist. I can honestly say that this was done with zero discomfort. She was able to remove the old material, locate and clean the extra canal and complete the procedure within an hour. I was reffered here by my normal dentist as it was a molar that needed a root canal. The turn over time to get me in was fairly quick. I went in on a Friday and was seen for my root canal on a wendseday the next week. I was seen by Dr. Meenal McNary D.D.S. she was great... very informative and walk you through everything that she will be doing for your teeth. I felt like I was in good hands. Being that this was first root canal ever. I had a Crack in my tooth and she was still able to safe the tooth instead of pulling it. Would highly recommend this Dr. The main reason I did not give all stars is. Be prepared for a sticker shock on what needs to get done. As this place is completely out of network with insurances. They do there best to work with insurance but more than 70% comes out of pocket. My tooth was in bad shape and seeing how I was reffered there. I felt like I could not go anywhere else. This time i was sent to the North Austin location off Mopac. I have had a couple root canals done with the Nelson Group! Both times the experience was wonderful. I would never say having a root canal was fun or a great time but the staff, from getting the appointment over the phone, to paying was easy, and respectful. I had tooth pain due to a temporary crown my dentist put on a week prior to this appointment. I was referred to Martin Nelson Group and was able to get an appointment tge NEXT week. I have Delta Dental so not all Dr's take my insurance. Luckily, Dr Foreman does! The called within 5 minutes letting me know they had a cancelation and I could come in the next day! Praise Jesus! It was recommended that I have the root canal and they were able to get me in THE SAME DAY!! Yes, if they have an opening you can get in the same day. Dr Foreman explained every step he took which helped me through the process. He was conscious about my comfort, respectful, and him talking helped made the process easier for me. In all seriousness, my root canal with Dr. McNary was the most relaxing, quick, efficient dental procedure I have ever had (and I have had a ton of work done). I have complex PTSD, and a lot of anxiety. I have fibromyalgia and heightened pain sensitivity. Dr. McNary and her entire team made me feel safe, comfortable and relaxed. I was referred to Martin Nelson for a few teeth that were giving me pain. My general dentist wasn't certain if I needed a root canal based on my symptoms, and they explained that Martin Nelson has special 3D X-rays and other diagnostics that regular dentists don't have, that would be able to figure out if and what treatment I needed. The front staff were very friendly and made scheduling easy. Because they have multiple locations, they were able to get me in for a consultation quickly. They explained that the usually do a consult visit first because we don't know for sure which, if any, teeth of mine need a root canal. And also, if I do need treatment, the length of the appointment would depend on the complexity of my case, which made sense. They also let me know that they have multiple doctors at their practice and that I have the option to see whoever I wanted to see. Some of them take my insurance in network and some accepted out of network, meaning my insurance would still pay towards my treatment but I would pay the difference. They were very transparent about my insurance benefits but made it clear that I wasn't restricted to only see one of the doctors accepting my plan in network. I was seen for my consultation the same week I called, by Dr. McNary, who was incredibly warm, professional, and thorough in explaining her diagnosis based on my X-rays and exam. She answered all of my questions and was very patient and reassuring. I chose to see Dr. McNary for my treatment because I felt so comfortable with her and I would rather pay the difference in my insurance fees to be with someone I felt so confident in. My treatment appointment was very comfortable and I really didn't have any pain at all. Dr. McNary was amazing from start to finish and I feel so relieved knowing I received such competent care. She even contacted me a few days later to check on how I was feeling, which was very kind. Since then, my tooth has been pain free! I can't recommend this practice enough and hopefully I'll never need a root canal again, but if I do, I know where I would go. read more

Have a molar that cracked and needed a root canal and crown before I have to leave town for an extended period. Dr. Nelson's office was able to accommodate me with a very quick appt. and performed the RT perfectly within about an hour start to finish. I'm chewing on that side the next day with no pain at all and no real discomfort from the RT procedure (temp crown was replaced on the tooth after the procedure). The permanent crown can be attached now with no real risk of having to drill through it. Highly recommended read more

They are Not on any preferred provider list and do not offer this information verbally. I went to the office in dire pain. They gave me the paperwork and I signed it. I saw the financial obligation papers, assuming it was like all other financial obligation papers That I will pay what Insurance doesn't. I was in pain I wanted to get started quickly. I didn't read that they are not on Any preferred list. Which means my insurance paid next to nothing. They office is not willing to hear you they are not willing to work with you to pay it off. If you don't pay them with in 90 day they will hand your owed amount off to a third party that will charge you an additional 20%. They are not kind about this and they act as though they don't even care. They won't even respond to my emails asking for a different payment plan other than their 3 payments. I am retired and I do not have that kind of money all at once. I do not find the front office friendly The dentist himself was kind great and very personable. Although on my last visit, the dentist in the office next door came in and was speaking to the Martin Nelson dentist about an issue he was having with a crown. I had my first root canal ever a couple of weeks ago. Of course I was nervous about the whole thing. Dr. McNary was perfect, always asking about my comfort and patiently injecting more and more lidocaine until my tooth finally numbed. And I think she had to spend extra time on it because the tooth was "long and curvy." But she got it done and I felt no pain and I walked out a happy camper. I had a root canal at the Mopac location of this practice last month. I was fine with the doctor and so far my root canal seems to have been successful. I had a pretty much identical root canal on the adjacent molar at a different practice last year. I have a new dentist and she is the one who sent me to Martin Nelson this time. My main complaint is that the fees at Martin Nelson were quite a bit higher than what I paid for a doctor with more years of experience at the competing practice last year. During both procedures I brought in sedation pills and there is a fee for the monitoring of your vitals during the procedure if you are sedated. The fee I was charged for this at Martin Nelson was $508 and the fee I was charged at the other place was $200. The other place had more extensive monitoring as I was hooked up to a machine that took my blood pressure every 15 minutes and there was a separate dedicated employee to watch me and check my vitals on the machine in addition to the hygienist. At Martin Nelson my blood pressure was taken one time by the hygienist prior to the procedure while my sedation pills were still kicking in and the doctor placed a pulse oximeter on my finger and glanced at it occasionally. That was it. The fee for the actual procedure itself was also quite a bit higher. As mentioned in another review, this practice also makes you come in for an initial consultation for which there is a charge. The practice I went to last year did everything in one day without a separate consultation date being required. The other thing that was kind of annoying was how busy this place was. I arrived earlier than instructed and still my sedation started 20 minutes later than scheduled. Everyone and their mother in northwest Austin was there that morning for a consultation. It felt like my procedure was being squeezed in amongst a million other things going on even though it had been scheduled nearly a month in advance. I even had to take my sedation pills in the waiting room as they had no place else to put me. When you have a bad dental phobia, a more calm and organized environment would be more ideal. And the kicker is that after they received $1943 from me personally and an additional $616 from my insurance company, I received a bill in the mail from them for a leftover amount that is less than one percent of the total bill. I had to chuckle at the petty nickel-and-diming here. I mean at that point, why even bother? read more

I was seen today for a same day possible root canal with Dr. Martin at the Pflugerville office. From his front desk staff to the assistant to Dr. Martin himself everyone was professional and knowledgeable. Dr. Martin explained what my x-ray showed and what the testing proved. I opted to have the root canal done. Price was in line with what it should be. He started the nitrous and then put the topical on and I did not feel the palate injection (which normally hurt like he**). I can't speak to the service but I can speak to their approach to business. It is mandatory that you go and have an assessment done before you can have the treatment done. My dentist referred them but then they told me I had to come in one day get an assessment and then go back and they wouldn't do same-day treatment. I have a toothache and I'm in pain and I need it fixed and they're trying to make an extra $125 off of me. I'm disappointed with their approach to care and I have asked my dentist to refer me to somebody that will do same day treatment and it took about 5 min. I guess it's all about the money for David Martin and his team. read more

I don't recommend you see dr. Bickel. He preformed a root canal for me and I cried 2 different times during the procedure after him hitting a spot twice that wasn't numb! I was even on oral sedation and nitrogen gas during this time. To top it off I get home go to look in the mirror and the work he preformed looks like absolute crap! I got a root canal by another dentist that was the molar next to next to the one Bickel did, and what I saw was disappointing. He didn't bleach it or even build it up to the height of my other molar like the other tooth and to top it off he tells me at the assessment visit that prescription Tylenol/Advil works better then narcotic pain medication....um...right. If that was the case pain medication wouldn't exist? I can't believe my dentist referred me to see him out of all the others that have excellent reviews in the group. read more

I'm very disappointed with the front office staff. I made my appointment 2 weeks ago. When I made the appointment I was clear that I wanted someone in my Dental Network. Today I drove 35 minutes to my appointment to be told it had been canceled. They called me around 2pm and left a voice mail telling me that my appointment was down due to their network being down. Oh and the appointment was with one of their Dentist that was NOT in my Network!! They would call me when their network came back up to find someone in their offices that take my insurance. 15 minutes later I get a call their network is back up. Needless to say I will not be going back to any of their offices. I didn't want to give any stars but had to give one. read more

GOSH - I hate dentists let alone root canal dentists. I was totally surprised when I came here. Having bad experiences in the past I asked for "gas". They found an absess in the tooth so he had to do the root canal then drain the abess before he could go on with the root canal. 1- 10 I'd give then a 100 without hesitation. Dr. Brian R. Bickel is borderline amazing. I was referred here by my primary. I was experiencing the most excruciating pain from an abscess molar, and I was ready to pull out all my teeth, and go full denture. Lol. I mean PAIN. PAIN that would make you drive right off a bridge, into a concrete ditch... Dr. Bickel was amazing. Professional, kind, effective and efficient. One minute I was willing to die, the next, I was like,...you fixed me. I can't thank this team enough. Everyone was just super amazing.... the office staff was so kind, the doctor was kind, etc. Folks, I hate anything to do with dentist/ anything at all... This was the best choice I've ever made. Thanks to my primary care dentist, Dr. Balan at discovery park dental in cedar park, I have found a doctor I trust and will absolutely go back to. I think the most remarkable thing that took place outside of fixing my grill is the fact that after my appointment, Dr Bickel actually text messages me to see how I was doing. How about that follow up!!! I've never had a dentist /specialist take the time to check In on me. What an amazing experience, and a great team. I had an infected lower molar tooth, and was referred to Dr Martin for root canal treatment. He has several locations so I was able to get in quickly at a location close to my house. I was so impressed with the cleanliness of his office and the professionalism of his front office staff. All of his team members seemed to be very well educated on all of his Endodontic practices and procedures. I had to visit his office twice because my tooth was infected, and both times I was really impressed with his staff and the procedures he used to relieve my pain and repair my tooth. I was referred to Dr. Martin for a root canal. I am the nervous-at-dentist type of person but the professionals at this office made me feel very comfortable. The dental assistant I got was amazing, she showed me all the equipment they were going to use and explained everything. She even offered me a blanket when she saw how nervous I was! Dr. Martin is awesome, the entire office was very pleasant. This was my first root canal and the Dental Assistant on the consult was great, they scheduled me for the root canal for the following day. (They do a consult as your dentist refers but the Endodentist confirms it all, I saw a prior review about this, I had no issue). The say of was easy, it was not much different than a cavity, took about an hour and after which I went back to my dentist to get the crown to complete the whole process. I can't recommend Dr. Bickel enough! As someone who is scared of dentist offices, when I found out I needed to have a root canal, I was pretty upset. Luckily, my dentist referred me to Martin Nelson Endodontic Group, and luckier still, I got Dr. Bickel as my endodontist. He made sure that I felt comfortable every step of the way, always took time to answer all of my questions, and thoughtfully checked in with me after each part of the procedure. I love this place! I'm one of those weird people that enjoys going to the dentist and getting a good cleaning. Dr. Martin only does root canals, but if he did other dental work too, he would be the only dentist I would want. So far I've had two root canals here, and I actually look forward to going back to finish my second one. I haven't had ANY pain on either of the two teeth he has done work on, even though he told me my second one (since it only has a temporary filling,) would probably hurt for 4-5 days. I've had cleanings that were more painful than my root canals, which were barely painful (and when they were he made sure to stop what he was doing until the pain could be addressed. I was recommended here by Tiller & Powell, as I had two broken molars that needed fixed. From the first time I spoke to Dixie (Office Manager), to joking with and enjoying the lively conversation between Dr. Martin and Amanda (Dental Assistant) I will be a little sad that I won't be coming back to see them once my teeth are fixed. I have already recommended them to my friends via facebook, but I was honestly surprised that no one had left any feedback for them on Yelp yet. You will NOT regret going to see Dr. Martin, Dixie, and Amanda! Tip: If you pay your bill in full in cash (I don't know if it has to be in cash or just paid in full, that's just what I did) you get 5% off your total. I almost forgot the best part! They have a window looking out the back, with two bird feeders that are usually SWARMING with birds. I've seen baby birds, grackels, cardinals, blue jays, doves, and even a squirrel once. It's nice to just sit back and watch them. It takes my mind off the boredom of not being able to talk, even though in my last appointment I took to using my phone to reply to and joke with Amanda & Dr. Martin. :P read more

I've just had my second root canal with Dr. Martin and I definitely recommend him for any endodontic work you need done. He is incredibly kind and gentle, and is very very knowledgeable. I have a lot of past trauma from shoddy dentists and botched dental procedures, and Dr Martin and his staff are very patient and accommodating. My two root canals have been loads easier than any other dental procedures, and I consider myself quite lucky to have been referred to Dr Martin 6 years ago. You can tell he cares about helping people and seems very passionate about his work. The office staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable, they really helped put me at ease about my payment options and treatment plan. Normally you wouldn't use the word "great" to describe your visit to a dentist, but the word totally fits my experience with Dr. Martin! It starts with his staff (everyone was so nice!) and ends with him. Dr. Martin is wonderful! His "chair-side" manor is great (there's that word again) and he makes you feel comfortable and at ease. He is very professional, knows his stuff, and takes the time to make sure you understand all that he is doing. He also goes the extra mile after your visit to assure that you are doing well. Nobody likes to have root canals. But, if you HAVE to have one done, I would highly recommend this place. It's spacious, new, and gorgeous...but more importantly, the staff is warm and friendly, and Dr. Martin is great. Very funny, and personable. He's fast and thorough and was very accommodating in letting me sit up a little bit more since I was congested from allergies. I've had a few root canals, but this one was the least horrible of any I've had. Hope I never have to have another, but if I do I'm going here. read more

I'm late writing my review .. which is a good thing, because I've had over a year now to "test drive" my first root canal. I was very pleased with the interactions with the office staff and even more pleased with the care Dr. Martin provided. In my case, he had a choice on whether to delay final treatment to let some marginal infection clear up .. or to press on and be done with me. I'm so happy he chose the conservative approach and waited. Very reassuring. I'd definitely recommend Dr. Martin, if you're ever in need of a root canal! read more

Staff was professional and polite. Office was really clean. They were able to get me in the same day lucky me cz I was in so much pain. He started the root canal and put medicine on it to get me through thanksgiving; then finish it after in second visit. I was pain free right away after first time even thou root canal wasn't finish. Dr. Martin explained everything throughly to me and answer all my questions. The next day after root canal he personally check on me via text. I personally liked that because I feel that shows he really cares about his patients. Dr Martin was awesome. So far I seem him twice first root canal so far good second one I just got done yesterday. His out of network with my insurance Aetna but if I'm willing to pay the extra 20%. To me is worth it.
