Good no frills takeout lunch in DT Maple Ridge. $12.55 lunch combos ready for pickup in 10min. I ordered the chicken red curry and the pad Thai. The taste was fine. The chicken wasn't too dry but there was too much coconut milk for my liking and the curry didn't really shine through. This came with rice and a spring roll. The spring roll had a weird aftertaste. Pad Thai was pretty standard. The shrimp was cooked well and the noodles didn't clump together. Pad Thai came with salad and spring roll. Spring roll was soggy as it was packed with the salad (a few iceberg lettuce shreds and carrot shreds). I can't comment on the interior since I didn't go in to pick up. Popped in for lunch. Decently priced lunch specials. Definitely more western style Thai food as it was lacking the heat needed. Spring rolls mostly consisted of vermicelli noodles but the sauce that accompanied them was nice. Pad Thai was pretty good needed some more flavour and fresh lime though. read more

The papaya salad was pretty weak but the curry, Pra Lam long and Pad Thai were very good. The take out was as flavorful as take out can be, the space looked like a lot of fun and the service was really good. I would definitely want to dine in sometime soon to give a higher rating, which I believe might be warranted. Would definitely return and recommend people trying out! read more

Pleasantly surprised at how tasty this little nook is! From what I gathered, most of the customers are regulars too which is a good sign. My fiancé and I shared some fried rice dish (ka pad ka pow? or something like that) and a beef noodle dish. The fried rice was spicy at medium!! It was really good. I liked the noodles as well, but I still prefer pad Thai. This restaurant also has a good authentic Thai iced tea/milk tea which I would compare to some of the tea I had in Thailand. They have a seasonal mango sticky rice, so we couldn't try that one... and while their menu isn't extensive, I do believe in quality over quantity. One of the better places to eat in Maple Ridge. It's casual, family-run, serving up home-cooking Thai food. Portions aren't massive but enough that you don't go hungry. The service has always been friendly. I've mostly just been here for their lunch special which The service was a bit slow the last time I was in but there were some power outages nearby and the kitchen was extra busy with take out orders. Took my dad to Smile Thai Cuisine for his bday. We felt like Thai food, so I asked a friend for her recommendation because she lived in my dad's area. We were a group of 5. Tried to make a reservation but they don't take them. The gentleman on the phone said we should be ok to get a table when I told him we were planning on being there for 6pm (on a Friday night). And he was right! Parking is behind the restaurant. Got a table as soon as we walked in the door. It's a small venue with nice decor. Service was a bit slow because they had few ppl serving and everyone kept getting caught behind the desk with pick up orders and 1 guy was constantly on the phone taking take-out orders. Other than the slowness, the food was delicious and when we did see our servers they were very polite and apologized for their delays. read more

This is a quaint, "homely" Thai restaurant that is definitely worth the visit. Seems like it is "family-run", as the staff seem to take real pride in their service. I visited for dinner with the lady and got dinner for the rest of the family. Waited about 40mins for food. Didn't call ahead for a $60 order so that's expected I guess. Staff were very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Food selections were pretty decent. The cashew chicken was bland and boring, might have been a one off cause I've heard this dish was great. However, I do recommend the green curry! Absolutely delicious. Bang on in my opinion. Seating is extremely limited. Maybe 20 seats so take out might be a good option. Over all a good experience. I would aim more for a lunch visit then a dinner and leave at least 30-45 mins for full turn around time. Return visit for sure. read more

Just ate here for lunch. As in most places, dinner can be pricey and lunch deals are the way to go to try a place out. For under ten bucks you can order a lunch plate of curried dishes, pad Thai, etc. all served with rice or noodles, a small salad and crisp spring roll. You can have your meal mild or spicy. They also have soups. My wife and I both had the cashew chicken. We ordered it spicy. All in all a fair meal, tasty and quick. The staff were all polite and helpful. The place was spotless clean. There are two tables outside and seating inside for about 30. A nice cozy little spot right on lougheed highway. We will be back. read more

This little hut on the side of the highway is a nugget of delicious Thai food. Found it one day by driving by and thought "Thai not?" Wow this is a good little place. Ordered the Tom Kai Gai (hot and sour soup with coconut milk) The chicken satay are also quite delicious. If you like pad Thai this is a great place for you, they go to Thailand almost every year. Loved it. Popped in for dinner on a whim thinking it would be "ok", ended up being pleasantly surprised by how great it was! We started with the chicken spring rolls, which were plump and very tasty, despite the wacky waitress making a poor start by bringing our rolls to a table that had just sat down. She did it again with another table too. The other waitress on hand was super awesome though, prompt & attentive while the first looked bored. As an entree we ordered the Pad Thai with medium heat, the garlic chicken with medium heat, and the coconut rice on the side. So. Freakin. Good. The medium heat was definitely not "white guy" medium. Clearly, the people who rated this restaurant 4 or 5 stars have no idea what real Thai food is supposed to taste like. How can this restaurant call themselves "authentic Thai" yet they don't offer pork on the menu? Pork is the #1 consumed protein in Thailand. Also, I don't recall ketchup being an ingredient in any of the Pad Thai dishes I had in Thailand... This place serves food court quality Thai food at restaurant prices. read more

As good as Thai food gets without actually being in Thailand! I just came back from a Southeast Asian adventure and I miss Thai food. I came to Smile Thai and was blown away by how similar it is to authentic Thai food! I have been there multiple times since. The green curry is my favorite with the eggplant and green chillies and all the same spices in coconut sauce. I thought the pad Thai was delicious too. The lunch specials are a great value with a dish, spring rolls and salad for something like $9! They are very concerned about quality! The mango and sticky rice was disappointing with a tiny portion and the mangoes were not very good but that's just because our mangoes here are not great. It can't be exactly like in Thailand but it is pretty close! read more

What an amazing place. Tiny like a coffee shop but wow did they ever deliver! I called last minute to arrange lunch for our film crew of 30 people today. They totally accommodated us...even after we pulled our lunch 2 1/2 hrs early. Food was incredible, especially the green and yellow curries. Way too expensive for a restaurant of its type. Ordered for 4 people and it was $75.40. The food was decent. Pad Thai was way too spicy. We did ask for hot, but Pad Thai, having had it several times in over 6 visits to Thailand has never been spicy. The papaya salad was mediocre and the other items were quite good, but $8-10 good per dish, not $14 per dish good. I may visit again, but it would be only for convenience, not because I think the food is exceptional. For this price, Thai Pudpong in West Vancouver is much better that the two aren't even in the same league. read more
