I had one of the best cleanings of my life at Smile Innovations. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive to my needs, making it the only dental office where I've genuinely wanted to continue going. Unlike other places where my teeth sometimes hurt after a visit, Smile Innovations ensured that I felt comfortable throughout and after the appointment. 10/10 would recommend!

My 4 year old toddler had several cavities and even needed a root canal per another dentist. The other dentist office wanted to put him to sleep and at very least use nitrous gas. My concern was my son is too young for these types of anestesia. After countless calls to other practices, everyone said the same thing, the procedure will be too painful for a toddler to handle without being put to sleep. Dr Boyd and Dr Linda,along with their amazing staff really came to the rescue. Not only did they not use anything other than local topical anesthetic, their gentle technique and expert teamwork helped make the process painless. My son even fell asleep towards the end because the láser used to fix his cavities and perform baby root canal was so incredibly gentle and painless!!! This dentist team really deserves 10 stars all around for professionalism, bedside manner,and advanced dental skills!

I am the type that doesn't like going to the dentist, however, this office provides exceptional care/service. The staffs/dental hygienist are always nice and friendly. I especially love Dr. Boyd & his wife Linda. They are very good dentists who care for their patients. I like how Dr. Boyd & his staffs explains my treatment plans thoroughly and show that they care. After getting my teeth deep cleaned and fillings taken care of, my gums has improved. They stopped bleeding. I am loving my smile more everyday. Thank you Smile Innovations!! When I called the clinic, the staff made it very easy to make an appointment. I did not have an emergency but they were able to see me in two days. The staff was very nice, greeted me with a smile and was truly interested in what I was saying. The dentist listened to me when it was decided to have a tooth extraction and my concerns numbing. At the end of day, I would recommend this clinic to anyone who is looking for a no stress experience. read more

I broke a tooth on a Saturday and I called this office because it was the only one near Tempe (AZ) that was open. If you are a snowbird as we are, I am sure that you can imagine the angst of having to see a stranger for something so crucial emotionally. Especially when you scan the reviews from Yelp, Google and Facebook for the market. Cut to the chase... what a delightful experience! I have many visits under my belt to dentists around the country (we were moved around a lot as we climbed the corporate ladder). Dr. Boyd and his staff's way of doing this business perfectly matched the bright, sunny relaxing office layout. Even though my problem took almost 2 hours to remedy, I found myself actually enjoying my time there. As for the procedure, Dr Boyd took all the time I needed to discuss and point out what he was looking at in my X-rays and carefully explained his recommended plan of action. I was given options with no sense of pressure. I am not an easily intimidated dental patient (because of needles, drills or cost) but I am one who is ready to be critical of any health care professional that seems more focused on getting on to the next patient ($) rather than making me feel they appreciated my coming to their place of business. To Dr. Boyd and all of his cheerful staff, you get all the quality stars I can give you. My teeth are perfect but I want to come back just to hang out. How weird is that? I have been going to Smile Innovations for several years for regular checkups. Recently, I had to have a crown and some fillings replaced. I had originally gone to this dentist due to uncomfortable tooth sensitivity. Smile Innovations requested to redo all eight of my previous fillings to alleviate the sensitivity. Trusting in their expertise, I let them proceed and we had several appointments. After the appointments, my sensitivity became significantly worse than before. I went back to Dr. Boyd to get this checked. His answer was that he exposed my root during his application of the fillings and his advice was to "just use Sensodyne." Overall, I left feeling scammed. The redoing of the previous filling seems like a way for them to bill the insurance company for as much money as possible while not being a necessary procedure as this did nothing but make my sensitivity worse. They had asked me to come back to take another look, but in fear of them making it worse, I will never come back to this dentist. read more

I can attest to the quality of work done by Dr Boyd. Back in around 2013 I had some extensive work done by Dr Boyd including a root canal, two crowns, and multiple cavity repairs, and all of the work has held up well ever since. I have been coming to Dr. Boyd for several years now as one of his first patients. He is always super friendly and has taken care of replacing old silver fillings and advising me to wear a mouth guard when my teeth were showing increasing degrees of erosion. Today, Sonia, a weekend dental hygienist, did a fantastic job of of allowing me to answer questions, discuss procedures, and preventive health. Today there were no cavities! Yay! I know Dr. Boyd doesn't make a lot of money off of me but he seems pleased to have a client who takes care of their own teeth. He promotes preventive health which I appreciate! read more

I used to see Boyd when they had their location in Tempe. I actually enjoyed getting my cleanings there and they were nice people. Then after a while, all they did was try to sell sell sell when they realized they were just getting cleanings out of me. They started making you watch videos on how you can get heart disease if you don't get the extra fluoride cleaning. And it just got to the point I was annoyed when seeing them. Then there was the guy Joe they had at the front counter. Plenty of issues with him. Last I heard he was gone. But now they're at a newer fancier place. Last thing. Linda and Boyd might want to look into making their Facebook pages private. Showing off your vacations, custom built cars, luxury designer handbags and shoes is just tacky. Definitely not the same down to earth people I met years ago. read more

I have a miserable case of white coat syndrome. Not only that, but my last dentist really put me off of them in general. After going 3 years without seeing a dentist at all, I finally bucked up and did some research and settled on trying out Smile Innovations. The office is incredibly nice and equipped with plenty of the most high-tech machinery in the industry. I was taken in for my evaluation appointment on time, and given a tour and explanations of the exceptional services they can provide. Everyone worked really hard to make sure I was comfortable. Dr. Boyd was especially helpful because he always explained what was going on and why. We were able to have an open dialogue about my care and what steps we should take moving forward. Elaine is absolutely amazing. We went over a laser procedure today to stop concerns of infection and I never do anything without doing research first but she explained everything so thoroughly and eloquently that I followed with the $200 procedure today. She is very knowledgeable and caring, because of all my questions we went over on time but she still completed her full duty to me as a client and set up the next client while finishing up my appointment. The dental assistant was nice ...but I was nervous as to how the topical numb med she gave to help lessen the discomfort of the actual needle injection wasn't numbing. It was like she was rationing it, so I asked her why didn't my gums feel numb as I've had this done many times and she assured me all was well. However when the oral surgeon began injection for numbing, I nearly came out of that chair!!! It was excruciating and the dentist was less than empathetic. It's changed for the worse since Dr. Forney was around. The new lead dentist, while nice seems to be pushing a capitalist treatment plan for all patients whether they need the service or not. The old hygienists were very patient and kind about my family's oral health, now they are using scare tactics to convince us to use all these treatments when they're not necessarily needed. I used to come here because the hygienists were my oral coaches and we would create plans together. Now it just seems they want to push all these extra treatments to get more money from each family member each time. I used to pay nothing/very little and now I'm paying for all these extra costs here and there that they're coding in their system. I used to be able to go for a cleaning every 6 months and my appointment wouldn't be longer than 30ish minutes. Now they're 5-10 minutes behind and go well over an hour to clean and they're not doing anything different. Seems like there are constantly new office people, they can't keep or hire another hygienist to save their life and all the original hygienists who I loved jumped ship (probably for the same reasons above). I'm looking forward to finding a new dentist to align with my and my family's values and would never recommend this place to any friends or family.

I was so happy I decided to try a new dentist . My husband and I were do for a cleaning and our place due to Covid was very short staffed. I also had a hole in a tooth that needed attention. Kim at Smile Innovations went the extra mile and called my insurance for me to be sure I was in network. From the time you make your call to walking out the door you feel welcome and at ease. I have aniexity and my husband heard me laughing a few times and said to Kim that does not happen. I am sixty two and have never had such a thorough cleaning. Dana was the best. Made be as clam as possible. I have several things that Doc Dioiello feels would be best and have it sent off to my insurance. I will know more after the price if they in my price league. In no way did I feel any pressure to have a bunch of work done. She recommended a crown on a tooth and worked with me to get the next best solution due to cost. I've never written a review before, but Smile Innovations certainly deserves a good one. I've needed a crown for a few years(yes, I'm one of THOSE dental patients)and met the Doctors through my work. My boss goes to them also. The immediate making of the crown while you are there in one visit is awesome! I had residual sensitivity and was seen immediately to address it, when I called and inquired about it. Their staff is friendly and professional. They will work with you on payments or even finance your bill if necessary.I do not have insurance and they were very understanding and worked with me. read more

Dr. Boyd is truly amazing! To my surprise I had minimal pain after a root canal done by Dr. Boyd. With previous dentists, I typically would have pain at the numbing injection site and I had zero pain! I was in shock.
