After being introduced to this wonderful fast food chain through a Yelp Elite event, I knew I had to try other options here. You can choose between getting a double or single patty. We ordered the Double Smoked Bacon Brisket Burger, the Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger, and Smash Fries. The Double Smoked Bacon Brisket Burger ($12.39) looked SMOKING good. From the bite I had, I never had brisket inside my burgers before, but they sure matched well and tasted so flavorful! The Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger ($7.09) was a burger I've had my eyes on the first time I saw it, and while it may look kind of sad and dull, the FLAVOR was absolutely deeeelish! Unfortunately, the truffle mayo is not as abundant as I would have liked so the parts that the beef patty missed were kind of dry. But trust me, that swiss cheese and mayo with the mushrooms is like striking gold. You'd have to try this for yourself. The Large Smash Fries ($4.59) are for sure one of my most favorite fries. They are thin and not too potatoey, which I like, and the garlic, olive oil, and especially rosemary bits offer so much flavor to them. Sadly, they did give us un-fresh ones that were under a lamp before we even arrived, so they weren't as warm and crispy as I would have liked. Everything was still amazing though! Order said it was ready at 7:05pm Then 7:09pm Employee (who was clearly extremely overwhelmed - not her fault) pointed to a pile of slips and told all customers waiting it would be a while, they only have 2 cooks. When asked about a refund, I was told to contact door dash even though I ordered through Smashburger website. A friend of mine recommended we go to this restaurant in the menu looked great. The service was terrible and then my burger came out and it was actually raw in the middle. When I ordered it medium rare I sent it back. It came back raw again then I was told that the waitress told to cook that I wanted it raw that just doesn't even make any sense. They probably could have a really nice place if they could just get their act together, but I wouldn't recommend eating there until they get their act together. I would blame a lot of it on the cook. Heard several good things about Smashburger and was excited to try them out! Went as a party of two and we had VERY different experiences here. When we got here, there's typically screens to self order, but they were done so a worker had to manually put in the order - there were only 2 people ahead of us but it took well over 10 minutes for it to be our turn. Not their fault though! I got the Classic Crispy Chicken Sandwich with the onion rings, while the other ordered the Truffle Mushroom Burger with Smash Fries and Oreo Shake. We sat down and our oreo shake shortly arrived and it was SO good. It had oreo chunks in it and was heavenly. After a bit more, the truffle burger and smash fries came out and so much truffle it was amazing. The burger had a lot of mushrooms with a strong truffle taste, and it was very juicy as well. The Smash fries were seasoned really well and was plentiful. They ended up getting my order wrong and I waited such a long time for them to correct my order - they kept insisting that I ordered another burger until I showed them the receipt - to which they sincerely apologized and got the correct meal right out. In short, I was very unhappy with my meal. They had a giant piece of fried chicken and it was very crispy, which was something that I enjoyed, but the mayo they put was SO SALTY. It physically hurts to eat this sandwich because it was dry out my entire mouth no matter how much water/iced tea I drank. The onion rings were even worse. It tasted like fried, overly salty sticks. Definitely was not feeling well after I ate half of the sandwich. Food is good here, service can be ehh, but DEFINITELY avoid the onion rings and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich! read more

The lady at the counter was great! She was very patient with me, describing what's in the burgers and explaining that getting a combo would save me money. The set-up is that your order and get a plastic table tent with a number on it. The burger is made to order and then delivered to the table that you displayed the number. The burger itself was 5 stars. I got a single patty, but it was oversized, being bigger than the bun that held it. There were adequate veggies along with a special Smash sauce in the burger. Sadly, the fries were so disappointing. They are skinny fries and didn't have much seasoning to them, quite bland actually. For me part of getting a burger is full experience, including the fries and the drink, which in this case happened to be a Dr. Pepper. The Dr. Pepper came from the fountain and was excellent on this day. While the burger was good, I don't think I'd come back which is why I've given Smashburger a two star rating. I'd rather go to Five Guys as their fries are more substantial, and they even give free peanuts. My meal at Smashburger costed almost $14 which to me is a bit pricey for what I got. I placed an order for delivery from the Medford location. I placed the order and waited the amount of time for the order to arrive. I received a text saying the food was on the way. Then another message that the driver was having a hard time finding the delivery location and that I should call the driver directly. I called at least a half dozen times and the driver never picked up. Then I got a message saying that the food was handed to me, which I can assure you it was not. I tried to call the store and no one answered. My card was charged but I never got my order. Next day I sent messages and email and never got any replies. This has become my go-to burger joint in the Boston area, pulling ahead of Tasty Burger in Harvard Square as well as the Five Guys chain, Shake Shack, and Fuddrucker's. Why? Because really, EVERYTHING they have is good, and unlike the others (except for SS), you can actually buy (gasp!) a beer or cider to go with your food. No, they're not really good craft beers, but at least there are 2-3 non-Bud/Coors alternatives, and the Angry Orchard cider is a safe bet too...best of all, it comes in a chilled mug! Prices are shockingly reasonable, especially if you go with their plain "Classic" burgers instead of the specialty/themed burgers. If on a budget you can even ask for a decent sized paper cut to get ice water instead of buying a refillable fountain drink. Now about the burgers: they aren't the biggest (that would be Fuddrucker's, which costs more since you're also paying for the toppings bar) but the meat is perfectly cooked---well done on the outside but still nice and pink on the inside. Many of these burger places that don't ask how you want it cooked, tend to generally overcook leaving you with a sadly bland piece of meat (looking at you, Five Guys!). The specialty burgers come with different kinds of quality buns, not the bottom-of-the-barrel Wonder Bread type plain white buns (ahem, Tasty Burger!). I'm usually a low-carb eater who avoids ordering fries or onion rings, but Smashburger's fried carbs menu is too damn good not to order whenever I come in: the potatoes and sweet potatoes are fresh not frozen, and hand cut in just the right size, and seasoned perfectly with rosemary and garlic rather than just bathed in salt as you often find at other places. My only small gripe was their shakes, which are made with Haagen Daaz, which is premium supermarket ice cream that often beats out at ice cream parlour ice creams. Well, in a shake you can't really taste its extra goodness, so it's kind of a waste for the hefty five bucks they charge you, plus it's a rather small serving. I'd rather have cheaper ice cream at a cheaper price and in a larger serving...something that Fuddruckers seems to do best. The bigger gripe is that they're only open until 10pm, but it's understandable given that they are in a sleepy residential area not right next to college campus like Tasty Burger is. Oh, and last thing: despite the modest prices, this location has a surprisingly upscale/decent ambiance! I mean, nice wooden tables and gentle non-white-glaring lights, which means you can relax and enjoy your food instead of feeling like you just want to gobble it down and GTFO like the other places (Fuddruckers and Shake Shack are the only exceptions). Plus it's quiet and calm, unlike Tasty Burger. I daresay that if they opened up a location near Harvard, they would easily put both Tasty Burger and Shake Shack out of business in no time at all. Service was excellent, btw---nice cashier, and they also bring the food out to your table instead of giving you a flashing/beeping coaster that makes you come to the counter to pick it up yourself. if I could give this place a negative stars I would. not going in with high expectations because its a fast food place but I didn't even get to eat my food. I went with 4 friends. 2 ordered burgers and 2 of us ordered chicken sandwiches. my sandwich came out as a burger. I brought my tray up to the counter and kindly said that this wasn't what I ordered and I asked for my chicken sandwich. thinking the kid at the register understood what I was asking he reached over to the kitchen and said this was supposed to be chicken I went back to my seat and waited for the correct food to come. The kid then brought the original tray back over and said this is what your ordered. I said no I ordered what my girlfriend ordered pointing at her plate. At this point my friends were getting annoyed saying can you just bring his correct order. He took the tray back to the counter. needless to say the food never came and I didn't get to eat so finally after my friends had all finished eating I just went up and asked for a refund. They werent even planning on making it. Mind you the kids at the counter we're sitting there drinking sodas and eating food which is kind of gross while they are servicing people food. I haven't been to smash burger since the summer. Me and my boyfriend loved their Cobb salads. What a surprise when we went back. The salad was half the size and everything was thrown around. No toppings and it just tasted like a side salad purchased from a shitty fast food restaurant. I ordered their chicken tenders which also were disgusting. The tenders are all breading and no meat. The wings were dry and needed to be baked or fried longer. It's such a shame that smash burger has gone down drastically. The person taking our order was not approachable and just hated her job. There was trash everywhere and overflowing trash barrels. The person putting the orders together was wearing the same gloves she was picking trash up with. If I can rate this place something lower than the star I would. Terrible terrible terrible. Bring back the traditional clean smash burger. Come to find out they forgot one of our burgers and took a half hour to complete the order, so one of the burgers is gross and cold. I've been here at least 3x within the last month and that's because I've just discovered smashburger! I am not a burger person at all but man, i crave smashburger ALL THE TIME! I love their BBQ, bacon cheddar burger. Every time I think of ordering something different, I just remember the juiciness of this meat and crunchy bacon and onion rings and I just can't not order this. My husband has gotten the spicy jalapeño and buffalo and blue cheese burgers and love both. Always order a side of smash fries. They're drizzled heavily with garlic, rosemary and olive oil. I typically prefer sweet potato fries over regular fries but the smash aspect works better with regular fries. My 4 year old (and ME!) loves the haystack onion rings - tiny, salty, crunchy. She also got chicken fingers and it tasted good. You also can't go wrong with the shakes. Oreo is the only way to go with our familia! I do wish that more people manned the cashier section. We came one weekday night and surprisingly, this place was brimming with customers. There was only one cashier = long wait. There isn't a long wait for food, thankfully. Someone delivers it to your table so you're not standing and waiting for it. A tip for customers - sit on the side closest to the inside of the restaurant/away from the doors. Ordered some burgers & Fries/Tots and then Chicken for the kids because god forbid they eat anything other than Chicken Nuggets.
