This was my first trying Smashbuger in Manhattan Village Plaza, part of this area has been renovated to an open air for shopping and dining, plus other entertainments. There is a small patio in the front with umbrellas, there are tall bar stools chairs for the long tables facing the windows, as well as the reg. table and chairs. You order at the counter and find a seat, the cashier who take your order bring you your food, she was very nice and friendly ,we had the double classic smashburger which was very delicious, the smashfries was absolutely hand down top notch delicious, they were skinny fries with garlic & rosemary herbs drench in oliver oil, now the super crispy chicken smash burger was good, but I did'nt like the was the put the chicken on the bun, It is cut into bite size pieces then put on the bun , I was expecting one whole piece of chicken, but I will return. read more

The Baseline: For a Burger-joint the burgers, fries, and drinks are prepared well, done with properly applied ingredients that should taste good, and any unique offerings should not take away from the basis of the burger itself. Food: The double smash burger (4 out of 5) is really good with a nice salt on the thinly smashed patties. The bun was soft and well toasted to help soak up the fat from the meat. Great toppings for the burger. The Scorching Mac and Cheese (2 out of 5) was really spicy and was even a bit much for me for the night. The fries were pretty standard fries (3 out of 5) and complimented the meal. Bacon Smash (5 out of 5) was not my order but I wish I ordered that after getting one bite of it. Stopped by here for lunch on a Saturday. It's located in the Manhattan Village plaza. This is a casual place where you order and pay at the counter and find your own seating. Service was quick and attentive. We got the double deluxe smash with added smash sauce, the double bbq bacon smash, chili cheese fries, and tater tots. I was curious about the brussel sprouts on their menu but wanted potatoes. Our order came to our table within five minutes of being seated. The chili cheese fries were good and the burgers were nice and juicy. Everything satisfied my craving and I was full at the end. The only thing I was a little disappointed in which was also my fault for not asking, but the smash sauce they have is actually a honey mustard type sauce rather than a thousand island sauce. I guess I've just been used to smash burgers having that type of sauce, so if you enjoy honey mustard then it's a good addition. So my wife and I wanted to try a new burger spot since it was national burger day and they had any single burger for like 5.98. She got the jalapeño creama and I got the bacon burger with sweet potato fries and a side of there cheese sauce which btw is like velvetta cheese the bill was like 25 dollars so it's affordable and they have v 5 dollar burger menu all day every day on the app so that's cool. My burger was insanely salty like all the other comments along with my wife's like the bacon just added to it I got a side of jalapeños and they cut them so thin there is no kick or anything. The burgers do not taste fresh even tho that's their motto and they live by that. They taste from frozen. The chicken sandwich is 2 chicken tenders on a bun but the breading has no flavor.the soda machines have some weird flavors as well. They pride themselves on the service. My mom and I went here for lunch today and both we and our playful pups thoroughly enjoyed it! We ate on the patio as it's very dog-friendly and had excellent service. The restaurant itself is clean inside and offers so many selections. I went with the Double Bacon Stack Splash. (Try saying that really fast!) The Angus Beef burger had so much applewood smoked bacon that I was in heaven. Add cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo on a toasted, buttered bun and you'll love it! We also had the All-Angus Big Dog with mustard and sweet relish. To add to our gluttony, we ordered the Smash Tots that were crisp and golden brown with a garlic-olive oil Rosemary flavor. Our first trip and our last! Raw bacon on my burger and of course I didn't check it until I was two or three bites into it. Manager came up and asked how I was doing and I showed them what was wrong. I said go ahead and say it, what do you see and he hesitated and he said raw bacon. They offered me another burger, but I was already not too happy about what I was tasting. They offered me another burger to go, but I just wanted a refund which they would not do. It's just really sad since it was our first time and when we walked in the very nice female counter person told us we all about customer service and yes, I even tipped them but yet the customer service really was horrible all the way to the corporate office. I sent the corporate office pictures and they simply do not want to talk to me. I just want my own meal refunded, just mine. Not my wife's or my sons, just my meal refunded. Tried Smash Burger in Manhattan Village for the first time and it was a pretty solid experience. Prices are average--around $8 for a burger, not including fries. I like that you can customize your own burger for about the same price, which is a nice option if you're picky or just want to mix things up. The waitresses were very accommodating and considerate too! I was especially into the truffle mayo sauce--it adds a really nice flavor. Also, their chipotle spicy bun stood out as something different and unique, which I appreciated. The place itself seems pretty new. The furniture looks fresh, the ceilings are high, and the overall vibe is clean and modern. The bathrooms were very clean too, which is always a plus. Their burgers are so good! Has to be one of the best (smash) burgers I've had in SoCal. The flavor is just spot on. If I didn't live so far away from a Smashburger, I'd be there again. Since it was my first time having Smashburger, I tried the Classic Smash. My 6 y/o gave it a thumbs up as well. It was very delicious and a good size to fill you up. This was the second time I've been here. The first time we came they made a mistake on one of our orders by giving it to the wrong customer who didn't say they didn't order it and took it. So we had to wait for the one order to come out and the order we did get was cold not hot by the time we got the other order. The second time they got my order wrong so my husband's meal got cold waiting for mine. Once you order you're given a number so the server can bring your order - they're eager to please and happy to ensure you get what you need. I can't express my complete dissatisfaction with SMASHBURGER in a short few sentences because it was flawed on so many levels. I'll start with the first, for those who can't ensure reading a verbose review and in case ownership of this Smashburger or the corporate office wants to know how inept this location is being managed. 1) We purchased the Scorching Chicken Sandwich "to go" and giving them as others the benefit of any doubts for a simple task, I didn't check my order. When I came home, a 15 minute drive (each way), I discovered the top bun and bottom bun with lettuce, mayo and pickles in-between, but NO ACTUAL CHICKEN PATTY, missing the primary portion of what you're ordering and paying for... THE MEAT. 2) I called the location to discuss the problem, they said to come in for a replacement, so I've already invested 30 mins in time and gas for transportation on the 1st order, now I have to ensure another 30 minutes to go and retrieve what I paid for on a second trip. That's 1 hour of time and money factoring in gas as well as the value of my time. When I arrived, the Scorching Chicken Sandwich was waiting for me as a... "and here ya go, that's it." resolution by counter service person EMILY. She's a front line worker, so I can't blame her much. I had, however asked to see a manager on the phone, then reiterated that after Emily was ready to consider the matter resolved. I'd spoken to CONNIE who was behind the counter in the kitchen. She said what she could do for all of my troubles is offer me "FREE FRIES or a FREE SODA" (the value of those were $3.69 Fries or $3.19 soda). So, I let her (CONNIE) know I was disappointed in that offer. I also said "I'm not trying to extort anything from you. I already ordered Fries. So, "A Free Soda... a cup of syrup!" expressing my lack of enthusiasm towards a mediocre effort to compensate and satisfy a customer. I wasn't expecting the food to be free and refund the $30+ order nor a $10+ gift card or the Scorching Chicken Sandwich itself to be comped for free (which most restaurants would actually do at minimum). So, I asked CONNIE if "Could you just give me a shake for my son?" where a shake's menu value is $6.39, to which she (CONNIE) declined and reiterated the fries or soda offer. I declined the fries and the soda out of principal. I've run customer service departments in my professional past and there was once an adage of "The Customer is always right." which we abolished because it's not necessarily always true. If a customer is profane, unreasonable or lying, they're not right. We transformed that addage to "The Customer deserves to be listened to, responded to and treated fairly" knowing "it costs more to find new customers than to satisfy current customers to keep them loyal." Plus, loyal customers provide greater lifetime value (i.e.revenue) and are the best referrals for a business. I don't feel it was very smart of CONNIE to decline a reasonable request of a shake which would have had me walk out of SMASHBURGER feeling elated that they actually cared and come back as well as tell the tale of a wonderful company that cares for their customers. Instead, I walked away very disappointed, personally insulted enough to take the time immediately and share this experience on Yelp as well as with others elsewhere. SMASHBURGER SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED To think, for the differential cost of goods of a simple shake compared to a cup of syrup, they could have remedied this situation. I think they need to reflect upon their employee training as well as whom they empower as managers or their policies and procedures, allowing flexibility and approval for educated managers to make decisions to save sales and retail customers. If that empowerment is actually in place, then SMASHBURGER should think long and hard about whom they're putting in management positions making poor decisions. REVIEW OF THE FOOD 3) The fries were lackluster and overpriced at $4.49 for a large size. They were cold (i.e., not fresh) and rather weak overall. 4) The Onion Haystack was overpriced at $4.09 for a serving size that only filled half of the container used. 5) The burger, I get it "Smashburger" is a style where they press the burger when they cook it so inevitably it becomes reminiscent of an overcooked beef jerky like patty, that's dry and well done. It's about 4" in diameter, rather small and the double burger just has 2 of those patties. It's neither moist, nor juicy. I'd say it's no different than a burger you get from a fast food restaurant like McDonald's, Burger King, Carl's Jr, Jack in the Box, Wendy's and the like, only it's 2x or so more expensive at Smashburger. If you're going for the "fresh" burger, I'd opt for In n Out, The Habit, Fatburger , Shake Shack, Five Guys over Smashburger for similar cook to order counter service burger joints. OVERALL, I do not recommend Smashburger on all levels based on my experience. See my photos read more

Their smashburgers have potential and I enjoyed my lunch. The bun is good, the meat is good, but the burgers just don't stand out overall. It's a tasty burger, but it looked more sad and droopy than what you would expect from the branding of this place. Both the bun and the patty were not as fresh and hot considering I thought my order was freshly prepared during my 10 minute wait. It looked like a hastily prepared fast food burger that you might get from a poorly run Burger King franchisee. The Angus beef and smashed style is their differentiator, but unfortunately not enough to stand out in a competitive burger industry. Smashburger seems to want to compete with the likes of Shake Shack, but is lacking on execution. It's tastier than Islands across the parking lot, but it lacks personality, so while Islands is busy on the weekends, Smashburger isn't. read more

I've been an avid fan of Smashburger for a while now so I was excited to see they were coming to Manhattan Village, the workers here seem like they're always on the hustle even if it seems a little slow inside the restaurant, I often take my food to go but I can ensure you that it's always fresh and very tasty and I haven't had a bad experience ever. Inside there is plentiful seating and they have outlets for your USB devices and power plugs! I came here to do work once but was surprised they didn't have wifi, all the tables and restaurant space are kept clean so you'll never have an issue dining in here. My mom and I recently got treated to Smashburger by my boyfriend. It was our first time ever trying this place. We got the Classic Smashburger, Avocado Bacon Club Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Cobb Salad and Smashfries. It was a Friday evening and they were severely under staffed. Most of the crew seemed to have gone on break at the same time leaving just the cashier and two other people behind the kitchen. Food unexpectedly took an hour :( and I felt bad for my boyfriend who simply wanted to treat us to a new place and new food. Due to the long wait; Smashburger staff did give a free side of Smashfries. Overall food was ok. The burger and Cobb Salad were simple classics. The chicken sandwich was the one I liked the best. I liked that it had good flavoring and wasn't dry. Manhattan Village is really on the come-up. The renovations are not yet complete but it's awesome to see shops open up. We came for a quick dinner and I got the double bacon smash burger. I loved the bun here, it was super soft and held its integrity quite well. For only $2 more, I would suggest getting a second patty. I love how they melt the cheese onto the patties here. I was able to participate in a Yelp Elite Experience at the new Smashburger in Manhattan Beach. The person at the counter told me that I could order anything off the menu up to $15. Since I had seen pictures of their truffle mushroom swiss burger and read positive reviews, I decided to get a double. I wasn't sure how thick the beef patty would be, and was surprised at the generous portion when I got home. It was moist and I'd definitely order that again. The large fries that I ordered were ok. A little salty and not hot when I opened the bag to get a sample while driving. There was a nice outdoor seating area in the front of the restaurant and tables inside and out were clean. There were a number of customers entering while I was there, so it seems like a popular spot. Burgers are made to order, so be prepared to wait a bit.
