I've been here a few times and the food was decent if not overpriced. However this last time I couldn't even finish anything. The steak sandwich I ordered, the meat tasted off and had an odd texture to it. The soda I ordered was Pepsi zero and it tasted wrong, so I asked to change it to regular Pepsi and it tasted even worse. Almost like it wasn't even that brand or just expired. I mentioned this to the cashier and told her I just couldn't eat this. She said oh sorry but nothing more, so I just tossed everything in the trash. An OG burger joint in Lawndale. This place is nostalgic for me and a bunch of my friends because we grew up down the street. It's one of those things that can't be replicated somewhere else. Four stars because of its consistency and nostalgia. Lots of tables to sit at. I haven't tried most of the menu but it's known for its burgers. I'm at Piggy's right now as they sent out coupons in the weekly junk mail so I ordered two double cheeseburgers and gave them the BOGO coupon and they said the BOGO only included a regular cheeseburger. Like the second patty and slice of cheese was too much for them to handle. I wasn't angry and didn't argue as that is pretty stupid but the guy working the grill and making the decisions regarding the protein, looked pretty miserable. Also, I tried to call ahead and order ahead multiple times over the span of several minutes and I kept being placed on hold and never return to. I sat on hold for five minutes. I tried calling twice before I realized someone was either a worthless loser , or there was a big party at the place. It was the former not the latter. Anyway, just understand that that piggies buy one get one free does not mean buy one get one of equal value for free. It means they will give you whatever the miserable guy decides you should get. This is my second really negative experience. Normally, it's three strikes with this place, I am going to accept the fact that it just sucks and not give it a third try. It was some ground beef with something I didn't want to even taste. I know that I am not the only customer or may be the most difficult person to help. First of all, I don't right too many reviews unless they are above normal expectations. The counter gal was kind and friendly. And they delivered our meal at the table. The burgers were AMAZING! I wasn't planning on eating the whole thing at one sitting, but it was so good and, I didn't want to put it down even though I am not a big eater. And the fries were hot and tasty- not too salty. The cook was very nice too. Clean bathrooms and friendly atmosphere. I usually don't tip at fast food places but I felt I needed to show my appreciation so how. I placed an order for Huevos a la Mexicana on the Piggies website. I was given a price of $12.97. I added a hamburger patty for $3.49, bringing the total to $16.46. Adding 10.25% sales tax brought the total bill to $18.15, which was charged to my credit card. When I went to pick up my food, there was no hamburger patty, although the receipt they gave me said "Add Hamburger Patty". The cashier, who was very rude, told me that I was not charged for the hamburger patty. I showed her that I clearly was charged for the hamburger patty, as the cost was included in the total bill. The cashier went and got the manager, who gave me the same spiel. He tried to tell me that I was paying $16.46 just for the Huevos a la Mexicana, and did not want to hear about the pricing as I detailed above. Bottom line, THEY RIPPED ME OFF. THEY WERE RUDE. AND, TO TOP IT ALL OFF, THE FOOD TASTED LIKE CRAP! I will never go back to Piggie's again, and I encourage you to spend your money elsewhere. It breaks my heart to have to write this review but with how expensive everything is these days...DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE! I've debated whether or not to write a review but this is for the true Piggie's OGs...I'm not sure what happened with management/owners but it has gone downhill. Portion sizes are smaller and prices are insane. I don't mind paying more money but I expect the food to meet the standards. My Piggie's loyalty has kept me in denial and so I kept giving them chances but some of my all time favorites have had changes. The Greek salad with chicken I swear was always made with love and packed in the container. Last time I ordered it everything was just thrown in. The chili cheese fries were a Piggie's must and we were totally disappointed with the taste of chili/cheese it seemed there were only like 10fries. The breakfast burritos too.. are much smaller, and noticed it's shredded hash browns vs the potatoes that were previously used. The burgers seem to be made differently. I hate that the zucchini get soggy with how they package it now. It makes me so sad that I won't be returning here after all these years but I cannot support them any longer. The lady at the register (no uniform or name tag) didn't know what she was doing at the moment of putting my order in and had to ask for help. We waited for 30 min to only get a wrong order and she got bothered when they told her she had given the wrong order. She then continued to run around the entire kitchen confusing everyone els. So I've literally only been to this spot in my whole lifetime maybe 3-5x. Each time I forget why I don't frequent this location ‍ It's been around for a very long time I can remember it still being around when I was younger in high school. So fast forward this review is based on my visit today actually about an hour ago. I'm not feeling the greatest so I just wanted to pick up a breakfast burrito to eat before I take meds. While I'm writing this review I'm eating the burrito and oddly my stomach is not agreeing with the burrito I have like a sharp pain. Perhaps it could be my sickness tho considering my head cold, cough, fatigue not Covid illness has been taking a toll on my body for almost a week now. So maybe perhaps this burrito is too heavy for this stomach of mine or perhaps this could be the reason why I have only visited this location 3x's in my life!? Who knows but let's get back to the $14 burrito!!!! While the burrito didn't taste bad not sure if it taste $14 worth. Times are getting harder and harder this is why I'd rather make my own food in my own home. But given the circumstances of not feeling that great it's one of those moments I gotta eat someone else cooking and pay this crazy price smh so I felt a review is necessary! I've been a regular customer at Piggies for three decades, it use to be my favorite, they had great customer service., and good food reasonably priced, and the place was thriving, it was always crowded with customers, but now it's the total opposite, empty, terrible customer service, and very inflated prices. My last visit there I was the only customer there, and no one even acknowledged me., I stood at the counter waiting to place my order during lunch time, and several staff members just looked at me and turned their heads and ignored me as if weren't even there, some just walked by me, and no one ever said a single word, and they weren't even busy, again I was the only patron there. This place has gone downhill and landed on a huge pile of shit!! I'll never be returning, nor will my family members, and I'm going to inform all of my friends and coworkers that use to frequent this place with me to stay away from this place. read more
