Love smash burger BUT I didn't love the cashier who continuously scratched her scalp while she was taking my order.

Used the app to order a shake and fries, got an email letting me know it will be ready in 10 minutes, 30 minutes later and my name isn't called so I ask and apparently online orders are supposed to go an tell someone. What made it special, were: Shakes made from real Haagen-Dazs ice cream Shoestring-thin smash fries were exceptionally good Spinach and goat cheese salad with cranberries and seeds There also was honey green ice tea Clean and new décor, consistently good service, and all these "a pitch above the rest" items made this chain special, a go-to burger joint, when away from home. With so many convenient locations in NY and MA we were visiting Smashburger often, this as well as other locations. On our last visit: Haagen-Dazs shakes are still there (our favorite, Belgian Cookie Crumble, is unfortunately gone) Smash fries are not thin anymore Spinach and goat cheese salad had neither cranberries nor pumpkin seeds No honey green ice tea anymore. The service is still good. But, except for Haagen-Dazs shakes, no other "little luxuries" are on the menu anymore. Smashburger is one of my favorite restaurants to get a burger in my neighborhood. It has cute and cozy seating indoor and out. The burgers are fresh, tasty and I love love love their fries. You have plenty of options to choose from on their menu and even if you still can't decide you can custom make your own burger. The restaurant tends to get a bit crowded with with long lines but it's no surprise because they're a hit, plus they move pretty quickly. The service is also great, workers are friendly and prompt. The food here is decent-- it's burgers. But my biggest disappointment with this place is the lack of accommodation for families with young children. The restroom does not have a changing table. It's a changing table. It goes into the wall and takes up no space. It was so offensive that to change my child I had to go to Panera next door (in the cold) to change her diaper. Overrated! I had the chicken avocado club with sweet potato fries. My husband had the New Yorker burger with fries. Both, despite all the stuff put on them was pretty flavorless. I think they put too much stuff for such thin patties, and for the loud, rushed fast food atmosphere, it's too expensive. You can have a better meal, for better price at Wendy's or Burger King. Was pleasantly surprised as the line moved fast and we all got our food rather quickly. I ordered the New yorker with pastrami and fixins and a smashfries. The burger was good but not $6.50 good. I ate here a good amount of times. The eatery is definitely a step up from Panera's Bread and even Applebee's. That night, my son ordered chicken fingers/tenders and I ordered the black bean veggie burger. The black bean burger was okay but son's chicken tenders were Uber delicious. Too bad his meal came with three tenders so I didn't want to be mean and confiscate the rest. I particularly enjoy the skinny fries, which is a perfect balance between indulging and watching your calories. The grand total was 18 bucks so I do find them a bit expensive but the place is clean and they also bring your food to your sitting area and clean right after your done. But one day, after doing some light shopping, I decided to step into Smashburger and check out their menu. Naturally, I was starving so you can imagine my excitement when I saw a black bean burger on their menu. I made the line, ordered my burger and some smashfries, and anxiously waited at a stool for my burger to be delivered. They don't take your order at your table at Smashburger, you have to wait in line, find a table, and wait for your food to be brought to where you are sitting. My order took about 15 minutes to arrive, and when it did, I went to town on that tray. The black bean burger is perfectly seasoned and their smashsauce complements the entire meal. The fries are thin and crunchy, just how I like them. I would love to give this place one more star, but the seating is a bit uncomfortable. I also would enjoy dining at this restuarant a lot more if the employees took your order from a table. read more

What I like about Smashburger is that they have an app that rewards you with points for every order you make whether in-store or through the app. If you order your food at the restaurant just scan your receipt on the app and it will input the points. On certain weekdays (Tuesday and Thursday's I believe) it gives you double points! For every 100 points you get a $10 reward. My favorite so far is the classic smash burger. The side and drink are separate..I usually get smash tots, or smash fries. The milkshakes are delicious and come with lots of whipped cream on top. My favorite shake is the cold brew coffee one. On the weekend it is best to order through the app because this place gets packed. You have to stand in line regardless if you are eating in or taking your food to go. So sometimes that line is very long and discouraging lol. I never have any issues with my orders and the food is made fresh. They also offer so many substitutes: grilled or fried chicken, small or larger beef patty, vegetarian bean patty. Found out Smashburger opened finally in the Spring Creek mall and was super excited. My sister and had to check it out. So of course it's a nice airy space with clean eat in area. The tables are a bit too close together but it wasn't bad as the ladies having lunch next to us were pretty friendly. So for lunch my sister had the Smash Chicken on the the 9 grain roll with the regular fries. Loved the little thin shoe string fries, they were crisp. I ordered the Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger with smash fries. Again, excellent fries. Servers were friendly and courteous. Even the owner stopped by to say hello and check on us. I've been to a few burger spots that make me want to come back again. Smash burger isn't one of them. I ate here 2 times and the first time I was hungry and when we are hungry just about everything taste outstanding. I came back again and the food was just ok. There's nothing spectacular about this place. The food is overrated and expensive. It's not that I won't come back and eat there again but it just won't be my go to spot. We've been to Smashburger a couple of times since it opened at Gateway, and have enjoyed it each time. Even though they obviously specialize in burgers their menu has a surprising variety for a quick service restaurant. There are chicken sandwiches, salads, and even a vegetarian friendly black bean burger that is my new favorite on the menu (note: I am not a vegetarian). Even better - My son can get a gluten free bun. Finally, a burger place where he can order like anyone else!! My only gripe is that there often isn't enough seating inside. They do have outdoor seating, but there are no shade umbrellas. On a nice spring day that's fine. On a hot day in July - not so much! read more

Ordered a double bacon burger, onion rings and salted milkshake to go. Got home began to eat and realized burger was disgusting. Looked and realized meat looked old and tasted older. Onion Rings were EXTREMELY salty and shake was the consistency of flavored soup. Was hungry so still tried to eat, but halfway through had to throw it away. Within 30 minutes I began to experience SEVERE stomach pains and cramping accompanied by non-stop bathroom runs. 8 hours later, same thing. Finally fell asleep only be to awakened by 4:30am with the same symptoms!!! Spoke to a family member who told me after eating at that establishment they experienced similar discomfort. Almost 24 hours later, and I'm still having stomach cramps and bathroom discomfort. Trying to find out how to alert the food inspectors because this place needs to be shut down. This place is your average burger spot. It's not a big deal and its definitely a spot that I would be craving to come back too. As we were coming a couple was leaving and we heard them say "it'd f&$ked up" not knowing what they were referring to. When we went up to the register the cashier help us took our order. When she handed my receipt she gave us as well some type of prop with a number on it. When she handed to me I asked what was I suppose to do with it, she informed me that I need to place it on my table so that the server could know whose order belong to who. When I went to sit down I heard a worker yelling out number 37. After a couple of second she came to me and started barking on me on how she was calling out my number that why didn't respond. I told her that It was my first time here i didn't know how it works. She continue and told me that she's the only person bring out to food that when my 2nd Niger come out and I hear that number to just let them know we were 37. I continue and repeated myself and telling her it's my 1st time there. The cashier told all I had to do was place this on my table. I don't know how this works. She was rude! For no reason. Find a little come sense form my part was needed in which I did use, but when she was calling out 37 my husband had pointed out to her when he was getting his soda and after seeing where my table is at she decided to stop and continue to shout it out and make comments like "Damn people are just dumb or something in that nature" that's when she finally came over and barked at me. #1 I've haven't seen a smash burger before nor there is one anywhere else in this neighborhood #2 your new and recently open why not inform the customer how things work. Went to Smashburger today about 2:30 for a late lunch. Been here at this location approximately 10 times. Outdoor seating, clean restaurant and smart interior design. Had the classic smashburger large with extra patty (3 dollars more). Also used Coupon Sherpa app to save 2 dollars on meal! Cheeseburger was great! Hot, juicy, flavorfull with the crispy caramelized exterior that you can only get searing on a hot griddle. Staff is competent and friendly. I highly reccomend visiting this location for a great hamburger as it was meant to be made! Ample parking a bonus! read more
