We got to Great Basin early in the morning to try and get stand by tickets for the observatory tour and so we did not have time to get breakfast in the morning. We also had a cave tour that morning right after signing up for tickets. We did bring some food, but lunch meats type of lunch and I wanted to get some hot food for my baby boy as it was cold and raining on/off that day. They are open from 8am-5pm everyday. There was a good variety of food. I ended up getting the loaded breakfast potatoes. The potatoes were a bit overcooked but overall it tasted good. My baby sure loved it! It was topped with cheese and bacon and costs around $10. I also got an iced mocha and cold brew for the hubby. My husband liked his cold brew, I like my mocha a bit less sweet but it did the job for me. It does get really busy so expect a wait if it's busy as there is one person in the front and one in the back making the food. The lady taking my order was very nice and helpful. There are a handful of tables inside, as well as a handful of tables outside. There are also some park picnic tables if you walk around behind the building a bit. Would I come back here? If I was at Great Basin again I totally would! Other items I saw people ordered looked really good too!! Tip - when staying for the free breakfast take the option of applying five dollars off of any menu item instead of the free breakfast. It's pretty skimpy. We paid about $25 for a very nice breakfast this way. Give it a try, especially if you're staying in the hotel. There aren't a lot of other options in Ely.
