    The guacamole was suspect, too.

Ely is growing. Seems like there's something new every time I roll through. There's no chance that it'll be another LA, LA land,... but on second thought it just may. It sure enough was for me, because I stayed at LA Quinta hotel, and ate at LA Fiesta restaurant. In my opinion, the name of the restaurant should be Blah Fiesta. Everything on the plate was ehh. I mean it was there alright. But as far as taste goes, well let's put it this way, have you ever been spraying yourself with bug spray and accidentally gotten some of it in your mouth? Yep. It's like that. The beans and rice were atrocious, and the Chile Rellenos weren't far behind. Not far behind at all. The plate was full, but half of it bit the dust. I couldn't go any further. Sorry mom, I didn't clean my plate. I should have realized that it was no good when I didn't see any Hispanic servers, or for that matter, no Hispanic customers! Quick Tip: The walls are plastered with faces celebrating their birthdays. They're all wearing the celebratory Sombrero. Hmmm, I wonder how many times the inside of that hat has been washed. I'm sure they sell Nix Ultra at the Ridleys Family Market up the street.

Stopped for the night in Ely, Nevada, and left to wonder where to go for dinner with my Mom. We had been in the car all day as were looking for something walking distance from the motel. La Fiesta was an easy 290 foot walk away according to Google, that was perfect. The reviews were all over the place, so I was not sure what to expect when I walked in the door. John D described this place as the "whitest Mexican restaurant you will ever set foot in". He was not too far from wrong. Young surfer dude was working the register and seating people. Our waitress, who was amazing, looked like she would be more at home in a diner than a Mexican place. But it was crowded, looked like locals mostly, and the food on the tables looked good. The menu was thorough with all the classics, our awesome waitress helped find something my mom could handle spice level wise. She ordered a small chicken nacho and a margarita. I ordered the Burrito Colorado because for me a good Chili Colorado means the place knows what they are doing. Was not but a few minutes later when the food arrived. Super-hot plates! That is a good thing. The chili Colorado passed muster and I was happy. One word of caution though, the refried beans were *loaded* with cayenne pepper. They had a healthy amount of kick and it was all front heat. So beware the beans! Overall, I liked the place and the staff, and I would come back here again. Not sure when life will take me back to Ely, but if it does I know where to go.

Shredded beef, taco cheese enchilada, chile rellano all great!

Driving up north and didn't want fast food but we found this obviously well established Mexican restaurant with fast service and wonderful food! Great Prices too.

Just passing through on the way to Vegas. Read the reviews and I was pleasantly surprised! Service was fast and friendly and food decent. Salsa was spicy the way I like it and chips were fresh. Margaritas were not bad as well. For the price, convince and speed this was great!

Been coming here for years , best Mexican food in ely , the new salsa bowls are a joke . So small you can't even dip a damn chip . But the food is still excellent

We ordered the General's special, green beans (deliciously spicy), honey walnut shrimp (beautifully presented and perfectly seasoned and juicy shrimp), BBQ pork fried rice, and veggie chow mien with a side of fried rice (full-sized). EVERYTHING was deliciously executed to perfection... texture, flavor, and service. Chef's kiss!! The owner even pulled an extra chair for my husband to sit while we waited for our food. We love this place, and although we are not locals, we see why this restaurant deserves all five stars for their hospitality and authentic Chinese cuisine. Thank you for the food experience we desperately needed after a long trip on Route 50-the loneliest road in America!

The owner was really friendly, but as others have said it still has such a COVID-era vibe with the plexiglass walling the workers off from the customers. Even the little window you get your food through has plastic sheeting that the owners refuse to remove. The food was good, but I wish I hadn't let them talk me out of the dish I really wanted to order. She wound up unloading an order of green-beans on us that was overcooked and too oily. The rest of the food was great, though.

They have a drive-thru and a few parking spaces in front with a picnic table, but there is also an empty lot next to them for overflow parking. We ordered a two taco combo plate and a California burrito and I am not exaggerating when I say they had some of the best beans and rice I've ever had! The way they season the beans so that they are delicious but also very simple had me thinking of my grandmother. The tortillas were also really good and seem homemade. The food was very affordable and it was done in just a few minutes so we hardly had to wait. The sign says they have this restaurant in California, Nevada, and Utah but I've lived in California all my life and I have never heard of it before. I would definitely return here and I would absolutely stop at another Riva's Mexican grill if I saw one.

It was next to my motel and I figured no one can mess up a basic bean and cheese burrito. Well, this is Ely. I've been traveling through here for 20+ years and I keep hoping decent Mexican food will finally happen here, but alas, it is not to be. To be fair, I am from Southern California and our Mexican food is pretty top tier, even taco shops like this one. My bean and cheese burrito made me sad. The tortilla tasted like a Mission brand tortilla from the pack, the beans tasted like canned refried with tough areas throughout and the cheese was slapped on one side of the burrito. The green salsa was ok. Overall, a pass for me.

This hotel and gambling hall is located off E. Aultman St. which is also Great Basin Hwy. Out front are a few big sculptures. Parking is free here. I booked the room using Spark.com website. I got a Dlx Dbl Rm 2 Queens for $104.08 x 2 nights + $28.09Tax = $236.15. Breakfast is not included. Our room was on the second floor. I don't think there is an elevator here. We used the stairs. Upon check-in, we were given 2 drink tickets good for 2 Well Drinks from the Prospector Lounge. The room was nice, nicer than I thought it was going to be! It was nice that there was a safe in the room as well as a microwave and a larger mini-fridge. In the room, we were given some candy and earplugs. We didn't need the earplugs. We didn't hear anything going on in the hallway during our stay. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well! We stayed here for two nights. If you desire to have some wine in your room, there are two bottle of Wolfgang Puck Wines for purchase. There's an on-site restaurant called Margaritas. It seemed like a cozy place to eat. We saw the steak and decided to give it a try, but we should have opted for a Mexican entrée instead. Maybe it would have been better. The Gambling Hall is the casino. It isn't in a room with a divider or barrier so the smoke is pretty prevalent. I truly felt like I was transported back to before the 1980's when smoking was allowed everywhere! I think smoking is not allowed in the Guest Rooms. I would not hesitate to book another room here again.
