On the road from Elko to St.George we placed an order on FB for 2 sandwiches. Hubby had the beef panini with roasted onions and peppers, excellent. I had the Turkey panini, also excellent. The meal came with a hot and tasty cabbage type soup. The service was very quick and the ambiance is what you expect from a food truck. read more

I have been eyeing this truck for a while and I finally tried it this month. I had the Grapevine salad that comes with Chicken Schnitzel, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Shredded Parmesan Cheese, Red Grapes, Candied Pecans & French Vinaigrette. The salad was impressive and delicious and the schnitzel was nicely breaded. My only complaint is that the vinaigrette was under seasoned.. The salad came with a soup much to my surprise. The soup was edible but could have been less dense because it was chicken and rice, and like the salad, it needed more seasoning, or at least some salt. I will definitely try another item from the menu next time I am in Ely. read more

Ok folks I'm back! Had a long vacation and moved....here I am in Ely, NV. I have eaten at almost everywhere in town. Most places are pretty good and we are getting some places that are REALLY GOOD! Shorty's is one of the REALLY GOOD FOOD places. Now it is a good truck but don't let that fool you. They put the smack down on the food they create. They have cold and hot sandwiches, salads and soups. I do wish they carried beverages but hey that's not there thing. The service is great and they are quick. Plus you can order online at their Facebook page. I highly recommend that. I place my order online and drove to their spot and boom, food was ready. I ordered the Brutus (all the sandwiches come with soup). Most of the time it's tomato soup which is good but today was a potato soup. The sandwich I received was on a wheat bread with chicken snitzel, green apples, red onions, lettuce, candied pecans. You get tomatoes too but I don't like them on my sandwiches so I opted out if the tomatoes. Why do I want to just marry that sandwich. It just works! Sweet, salt, savory etc. You want to order 50 of them but I'm full after 1. There sandwiches are always just a step above everyone else's sandwiches. They are different, consistent and above all TASTY! Let's move on to this liquid love of a potato soup that they do. It has spinach, onion, carrots, rounded potato slices and a broth that has a different flavor than all the potato soups I've tried. It's definitely potato soup but it just has this extra seasoning or something I can't figure out and it takes it to a WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL! It's velvety and hearty. Shorty's YOU ROCK! Came to Ely for Labor Day weekend and randomly came across this food truck. I got the garlic chicken sandwich and my brother got the Brutus. They were both absolutely delicious with some tomato soup. I'm glad we were able to get quick lunch before checking into the hotel and it was nice and fresh! read more

As this was my second time driving through Ely this year, AND passing by this cute food truck, I HAD to stop and check it out this time. Opting for the Louie sandwich, I drove to a grassy open field behind the courthouse, found a picnic bench, and dug into my lunch. The sandwich was deliciously toasted, grilled cheese style with generous portions of mortadella ham, mozzarella cheese, tomato, red onion, sliced pickle, and Dijon mustard. BONUS: all sandwiches include a cup of soup; I got to try the chicken & lentil, which was warming and hearty in its own right. Will definitely be looking out for this truck next time I roll through. The guy who took my order said they're usually open Tue-Sat, 11am-3pm, and closed Sun/Mon. read more

Absolutely amazing! Stopped in on our way from Arizona to Idaho, tired of rest stop food. This place was JUST what we needed! Fresh food, and good customer service! I'm a little shocked there's only one review on here- the kid running the window said they've been here 5 years? Either way- awesome food- we had the Brutus chicken sandwich and the double dub steak panini. Both had awesome flavor and were super tender. Soup was zuppa toscano and was equally delicious.
