The food was substandard. We eat a lot of Asian meals and this was bad. I ordered King Po chicken and it was eatable not much flavor or spice. My wife ordered Chicken with mixed vegetables and it had no flavor. The veggies were cut very large and we only had cheap plastic forks to eat with. Not good plastic but the cheapest little ones. My wife only took a few bites and left the rest. The service was fast food style where you order at the cash register and they bring it out in to go containers. For $16.95 a plate I did expect a lot more (service and flavor). Ambiance...The restaurant looked like it was a nice dine in place at one time but now part of the dining room looks like the storage room with cases of stock and food piled in boxes in the middle of the dining room. Come dinner time and we decide to do take out and eat at the hotel. I find out there's TWO Chinese restaurants here in this little town of Ely. OK, we pick Twin Wok and go down there to order. One of the crew speaks Chinese so that's a help when ordering and getting what you want at places like this. We ordered, orange chicken ($16.75), General Chicken ($16.75), pot stickers ($8.99), combo fried rice ($14.99) and mu shu chicken ($17.95). Plus tax, that came out to a little over $80.00! Give them a little to go tip and it's $90.00 for 3 people! for to go Chinese food. I say $30 a head is a bit much, but I guess getting and shipping that food out here to middle of nowhere ELY, NV is expensive. All the prices on the menu were like 25% higher than say on a normal city. Lucky for us, the food tasted just fine, maybe not the best ever Chinese food like from Chinatown, but decent for dinner. The Orange chicken looked just like the General chicken, but good it tasted different. A bit heavy on the breading, but that's standard for is kind of food. The pot stickers were pretty good and the fried rice tasted fresh made. The mu shu was just OK. A little on the salty side but we ate it all anyhow. I ordered the chicken egg foo young, and it was fantastic! They gave me a very large portion of three cakes smothered with gravy and pieces of chicken. This also comes with a side of rice. It was a tremendous amount of food, and easily appropriate for sharing. The food here was delicious and the service was attentive. The only reason I did not rate this place five stars, was because I requested hot tea with my meal and was told they don't offer that. Also, everything is served in styrofoam containers and on paper plates. Even though you can eat inside here, they seem to be set up more for take out. If these things don't bother you, you definitely won't go wrong here. read more

This husband and wife run restaurant is so good, our friends (originally) from Staten Island, insist on going there every time they come up from Las Vegas to visit. You can dine in or take out. When you think of Ely, Nv Chinese food is probably not the first thing you think of. However, this restaurant is AMAZING! Right now their is a lot of construction happening in front of the restaurant. So to enter the parking lot you have to come from the back of the restaurant. The restaurant is open from 11 AM to 8:30 PM daily. However I would highly recommend checking yelp or heading online to make sure the hours are correct. During certain times restaurants tend to stay open later or close early. When you walk into this restaurant the appearance does not give you good vibes. There is seating available and in the center of the restaurant it looks like they may have a buffet. However, when we enter the restaurant the buffet looks more like a storage area. Speaking of storage the cash wrap area looked as if it were another storage area. I'm not sure how many people work in this restaurant but it seemed as though the woman taking the orders, and ringing people up may have also been the chef. Don't hold me to that but she was running around like crazy. (Poor lady.) We placed a to go order which was pretty large so we had to wait a few extra minutes from the time suggested for pickup. When we got home to our surprise we got an order of chicken wings which we didn't order within our order. We decided to give them a try and they were tender on the inside and super crispy on the outside. I would have to say these are probably my favorite chicken wings! We also ordered lo mein, chicken egg foo yong, Mongolian beef, sesame orange chicken, Cream cheese Rangoon's, spring rolls and egg fried rice. Everything tasted amazing. I also have to make a comment on the spicy yellow mustard. It almost had a wasabi flavor to it and it was spicy yet so tasty. So much food! We were staying at the Bristlecone Motel and got take-out. The Kung Pao Shrimp was AMAZING. The Shrimp in Lobster sauce had a huge number of shrimps. The cheese wonton and dim sum were obviously hand made in house. The restaurant doesn't look like much, but what comes out of the kitchen is high quality and worth the price. read more

I stopped here for dinner after a day of sightseeing in the Ely area. The place was mostly empty at 6:15. I was brought an iced tea and given the menu. I went with the Szechuan Combination (shrimp, chicken, and beef) listed under the Twin Wok Special on the menu. The food was delivered promptly. They need to remove the red pepper denoting spicy because it wasn't. Maybe Asian restaurants do this so as not to offend some palates that think an extra amount of black pepper makes food hot. This was a good stir fry but it was not what I'd call Szechuan style. Service was good. My iced tea was refilled without asking and I was on my way. I stopped by on a road trip, I was happy to find good food because typically passing through Nevada it's hard to find in smaller towns! I am not a big fan of burgers and fast food so finding this spot was great for me. I called ahead and ordered Beef Lo Mein (or Chow Mein?), I was glad the woman on the phone asked me if I wanted crispy or soft noodles and confirmed soft, I think it was the Lo Mein? It only took 10 minutes, which was nice on a road trip to swing by quickly to grab the food and get back on the road. The lunch special came with rice and an egg roll. I was expecting plain white rice but there was egg or some bean sprouts maybe in it, whatever it was it was delicious. My noodles were super tasty and fresh, nice big chunks of onion and perfectly cooked seasoned beef. Will definitely be stopping by whenever I pass through Ely and want some quick food! My wife and I got take out a year ago while on our Anniversary ice fishing trip. We got several items and this became our #1 favorite Chinese Takeout place. Much better than our options in Vegas. I believe it is only take out. I saw a man in the back cooking away and a lady up front hustling with handling us and other folks picking up their food and placing orders. Last night ( a year later) we are on another trip and got take out again. I mentioned what if it's not the same and we are let down? Well that was not the case. The food was "more better" than we remembered. And my wife is Korean and a picky eater. The Mongolian Beef is cooked perfectly and my favorite. Seems like they used good meat and not gristle or chewy. The pork lo mein is my second. Noodles are perfect. The chicken & vegetable combo was delicious. Looked like they used white meat from the chicken. As the veggies go, they favored using celery. I don't mind it but why wife does not like celery. We were out in the 40s all day fishing. So the sweet and sour soup and wor won ton soups hit the spot warming us up. Yes it's a lot of food but we have enough leftovers for another meal for lunch and fishing this morning. An expensive Twin Wok Special was ordered, we were served a few cuts of meat and a few shrimp and a huge amount of zucchini, all floating in the spicy sauce. That amount of sauce killed all the flavor. We threw away this food and money, absolutely dissatisfied! The menu is not informative, also pictures are needed, since the waiter cannot explain all the positions to each client. Completely dissatisfied. We will never back to this place! Solid Chinese food spot. I usually stop here either on the way to Wendover/Jackpot/Elko from Vegas or vice versa. It's a good halfway point. Side note: If you are heading to Ely from Vegas or Vegas to Ely, do your navigation to/from Hiko. Example: Vegas-Hiko-Ely. I've left it up to apple iphone maps, and they for some reason take me to Caliente which adds 45 minutes/43 miles than going through Hiko. Dunno why it does this, but it does. They had a pretty good buffet back before COVID, but since then they only do takeout. After you've ordered, you can park in their parking lot. Call them and they will come out to the car and deliver the food and drinks you ordered as well as take payment. As I said, it's solid food, but nothing to write home about. I have ordered the buffet, the lunch specials, and at night usually the Dinner B. The fried rice for both dinner b and lunch specials is very very basic- like they just threw white rice on the pan for a few seconds with a little sauce to give it a brown look. Don't expect super awesome perfect teppanyaki fried rice. The main courses are not bad. The dinner B they give you a full takeaway container full of it. Be careful, as if it has sauce (like the Beef w/ Broccoli), it might leak out of the container while angled in the car. Again, solid Chinese food here- you can't go wrong. Picked it up and when I opened it up at room I was happy with the shrimp lo mein, but the sweet sour chicken was almost inedible. The same deal in my own comparably sized hometown isn't half as good. I'd give it two stars alone for not serving clumpy rice. I really liked the veggie lo mein because the vegetables weren't over cooked so they still had a little crunch to them and good flavor. I give this place four stars because of the quality and flavor of the food. There really is no ambiance, and it is more like an old fashioned chinese take out with tables and chairs. The potstickers are deep fried, which I don't care for. On the plus side. the items that had coated and deep fried meat chunks were perfectly cooked, not greasy, and not over cooked so the meat still had some flavor and texture, which seems to be missing from other Chinese take outs. There was enough sauce to coat the meat , with a little extra. I really liked the food here because everything did not taste the same, or like old oil. they must do it right by using a really hot wok and only enough oil to cook the food quickly. the rice on the other hand is not my style. it is more of a broken rice that dries out if you take it home, and no hot sour soup. Regardless, I still enjoyed it. the service was still pretty good for pick up and sit down. She was very accommodating. I will eat here again on my next trip down Highway 50/93 in Nevada. read more

Is it the BEST Chinese food I have ever had? No, not by a long shot. But for American style Chinese food this is a sure bet while in the area. We came here for dinner a decision partly based on proximity to our hotel and on the positive reviews on Yelp. It is in what used to be a Pizza Hut - hard to mask that unique archetectural style. We were greeted right away and shown to our table. Drink orders were taken when we were handed our menus. Drink options are limited - white, red and plum wine with a small variety of beer. The usual soft drinks and tea are available. Hot tea was not offered with our meal, so it must not be included. The food options are the usual American Chinese dishes with a choice of beef, chicken or shrimp as the protein. We started off with the pot stickers. They were crispy-crunchy on the outside with a generous filling of spicy meat on the inside. They were HOT so were obviously served fresh from the pot. The dipping sauce was soy based with a bit of sweetness and spice. We ordered the Szechuan Combo from the Two Wok Special menu to share. It came with steamed white rice. The vegetables were crisp and fresh. The beef and chicken were tender. There was not a lot of shrip, but they were also tender and sweet. The sauce was flavorful with a bit of bite from the red pepper flakes. Overall, the dish was good, but was missing richness and complex flavors. The portion was a perfect size for the two of us. Passing through Ely, NV tried Twin Wok for lunch buffet. The selection is limited and the quality below average. Most of the dishes were overcooked and with questionable flavor. The broccoli dishes were a faded greenish yellow and bitter . The green salad was a highlight, which doesn't say much for a buffet. There was one salad dressing not sure if it was blue cheese or ranch, maybe a combination of both? It was okay though. Just passing through but we were in need of some lunch. After reading the reviews, we decided that it was worth a try. The parking lot was packed, so thought that was a good first sign. The lunch buffet was small but had all the essentials, and if you need more, you can always drive on down the road to Vegas for a big buffet. Everything seems clean and the food was quite tasty, especially the chow mein, which can some times be rather bland, but this wasn't. Waitstaff were very efficient and pleasant. My fiancé and I found this place while staying in Ely this weekend. After a long day of hiking at Great Basin NP yesterday, we wanted to pick up something for dinner and bring it back to our hotel. After coming here last night, we were pleasantly surprised with the great service and delicious food. Due to the whole covid crisis, this place only offers take out and no dine in at this time (which we were completely fine with). I simply called the restaurant to place our order and it took only 15 minutes. We both ordered the "Dinner B" family meal, which is ​$16.95/person and comes with soup, egg roll, cheese wonton, chicken wing, and your choice of a main dish listed on their menu. My fiancé ordered the kung pao combo (beef, chicken, & shrimp) and I ordered the Mongolian beef. In addition, we ordered a small size of bbq pork. Once we drove up to the restaurant, there's a sign that says that only staff are allowed inside. You basically wait by the front entrance in your car and someone will come out. We were promptly greeted by one of the staff who immediately brought our food out to us. I have to commend them that the whole process went extremely smooth and painlessly easy given the covid situation. We brought our food back to the hotel and found everything to be delicious. We were also amazed that the portions were huge given the great deal we paid for!! In addition, they also provided us utensils and small packets of condiments- like soy sauce, hot mustard, etc. I wish I took a picture of the food but we were so hungry and everything smelled amazing. This is a great spot if you're wanting good food with friendly staff especially since there aren't many restaurant options in Ely to choose from. We plated the few eatable items and before we were finished the kitchen had replenished most of the very limited dishes offered on the buffet. The fresh food was okay, but not great. Drinks are not included in price. Had to walk up to the front counter and ask for our plates to be cleared and waters filled.
