Passing through Ely, NV tried Twin Wok for lunch buffet. The selection is limited and the quality below average. Most of the dishes were overcooked and with questionable flavor. The broccoli dishes were a faded greenish yellow and bitter . The green salad was a highlight, which doesn't say much for a buffet. There was one salad dressing not sure if it was blue cheese or ranch, maybe a combination of both? It was okay though. I would really like to say something good about this restaurant buffet because the choices of food in Ely, NV are limited. Won't be stopping here again. read more

My fiancé and I found this place while staying in Ely this weekend. After a long day of hiking at Great Basin NP yesterday, we wanted to pick up something for dinner and bring it back to our hotel. After coming here last night, we were pleasantly surprised with the great service and delicious food. Due to the whole covid crisis, this place only offers take out and no dine in at this time (which we were completely fine with). I simply called the restaurant to place our order and it took only 15 minutes. We both ordered the "Dinner B" family meal, which is $16.95/person and comes with soup, egg roll, cheese wonton, chicken wing, and your choice of a main dish listed on their menu. My fiancé ordered the kung pao combo (beef, chicken, & shrimp) and I ordered the Mongolian beef. In addition, we ordered a small size of bbq pork. Once we drove up to the restaurant, there's a sign that says that only staff are allowed inside. You basically wait by the front entrance in your car and someone will come out. We were promptly greeted by one of the staff who immediately brought our food out to us. I have to commend them that the whole process went extremely smooth and painlessly easy given the covid situation. We brought our food back to the hotel and found everything to be delicious. We were also amazed that the portions were huge given the great deal we paid for!! In addition, they also provided us utensils and small packets of condiments- like soy sauce, hot mustard, etc. I wish I took a picture of the food but we were so hungry and everything smelled amazing. This is a great spot if you're wanting good food with friendly staff especially since there aren't many restaurant options in Ely to choose from. If we're ever in the area again, we will be sure to come back. read more

I give this place four stars because of the quality and flavor of the food. There really is no ambiance, and it is more like an old fashioned chinese take out with tables and chairs. The potstickers are deep fried, which I don't care for. On the plus side. the items that had coated and deep fried meat chunks were perfectly cooked, not greasy, and not over cooked so the meat still had some flavor and texture, which seems to be missing from other Chinese take outs. There was enough sauce to coat the meat , with a little extra. I really liked the food here because everything did not taste the same, or like old oil. they must do it right by using a really hot wok and only enough oil to cook the food quickly. the rice on the other hand is not my style. it is more of a broken rice that dries out if you take it home, and no hot sour soup. Regardless, I still enjoyed it. the service was still pretty good for pick up and sit down. She was very accommodating. I will eat here again on my next trip down Highway 50/93 in Nevada. read more

The food here is excellent! I ordered the lemon chicken and fried rice and it was SUPERB! Great and fast service! Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I had orange chicken and egg fried rice for dinner in this place. Orange chicken was sweet, yummy though little heavy and it was more like "crispy donuts".But the fried rice was not fresh, tasted a bit low.totally it was an average one.And yeah, the service was really good. Our waiter was very kind and friendly.. read more

Arrived at 1 pm. 9 people already dining and many of the buffet offerings were either empty or contained dead/stale food. We plated the few eatable items and before we were finished the kitchen had replenished most of the very limited dishes offered on the buffet. The fresh food was okay, but not great. Drinks are not included in price. Had to walk up to the front counter and ask for our plates to be cleared and waters filled. Better food in town at more affordable price, so probably won't repeat the lunch buffet? Maybe will try dinner sometime? read more

Twin Wok Restaurant - Buffet price and hours. Drinks are not included in price. - Chinese Near Me - Ely, Nevada

Really bad Chinese food. I don't expect super high quality but this was just plain lacking. Lady behind counter was sweet but really really bad food. The hot and sour soup was not edible and lemon chicken was just pieces of overly fried chicken with sauce on the side. Pass on this place. read more

They served a lot of food. One item was too much for me and I am a big girl. My family ordered yellow curry, orange beef, sizzling rice soup, vegetable fried rice, and pot stickers. There was four of us and we have lots of left overs. Food tasted pretty good. However, the curry and orange beef was very gelatinous which for me is not the texture I would be looking for in Chinese food. read more

I wasn't expecting much upon first impressions but was pleasantly surprised by the food. Orange chicken was my favorite- crispy and great flavor. The shrimp lo mein had a generous amount of shrimp and was also a good choice. The staff was very friendly and attentive. read more

This place has good food and large portions. I recommend for takeout. We dined in, and ate off paper plates with plastic utensils and styrofoam containers, which was pretty inelegant. read more

I recommend the beef egg foo young. The combo lo mein and egg flower soup are also very good. The food here has always been good with large portions at a reasonable price. It's not super fancy, but it's clean and the personnel are polite. I recommend Twin Wok for good Chinese food! read more

We came for the buffet and really enjoyed itr everything was tasty and the right price. We each got to pick what we wanted and try things that we don't normally get at home. The egg flower soup was tasty and had bits of tofu in it. The egg fu young was great and don't miss the pork and green beans. Egg rolls are yummy and so were the crab rangoon. We enjoyed everything we tried and between us I think we tried I everything. We enjoy getting to come here when we visit Ely. read more

Just had dinner & it was delicious! The servings are large, yet flavorful. The BBQ pork appetizer was a meal all by itself. We didn't know that & ordered the wok combo with garlic sauce. So yummy!! Even with 2 people we had leftovers. We will be back! read more

Went in on a Friday night. About five tables were being served. Our waitress slammed our water glasses on the table. Not sure if this was intentional or just an accident. Service was just ok. Our waitress was more interested in taking her break and eating than waiting on tables. The food was sub par and what you would get from any strip mall take out Chinese restaurant, certainly not worth sitting down for a meal. But this is Ely, NV. Don't expect much when it comes to good food at any of the restaurants in town. read more

Best place I've found in Ely. Was really good. If you're a fan of old school chinese cafe type food, you'll love this place. Fried rice was a little dry but really good. Harsh pork was a little greasy but good. The hot mustard was great. Egg rolls really good. Beef lo mein was kind of bland but otherwise tasty. Will be the place I come to every time I'm in Ely. read more

We had been away from Southern California for 3 weeks and were craving some good Asian food! We still are ! Food was just ok! Not bad, but not great either! Garlic Green Beans were the best! The Mongolian Beef was 70% sliced cooking onions WTF is that? Flavor was ok but little beef! And Mongolian beef is usually sliced green onions! And not cooked! Other dish was lemon chicken..normally lemon chicken is breaded, this wasn't! And Chicken was sliced into teeny tiny pieces! And little chicken to sauce/veggie ratio! Not sure about other reviews...perhaps they prepare better food for locals! But not impressed with this place. read more

Yuck. Do you like to eat with plastic silverware and styrofoam containers. Do like kung pao chicken with the only vegetable being celery. Do you like hot tea, they don't have it. Yes and you have to bus your own trash. Save your money and don't eat here. read more

This review is a very weak three stars--I kind of want to give two, but realize this is based on only one visit. We arrived at 1:30 for lunch. They walked us past the buffet and showed us to a table and asked for water to drink. No menus, no information. When the server brought us the water, we asked how much the buffet was ($10 each). We got our food, and as we go up to go get a bit more noticed that they were closing--at 2:00! In any event, the food was OK, but not great. Nothing worth $20 for two. A little communication would be helpful. read more

Very good service allowed all 7 of us to have the lunch special even though we showed up right at 3 pm. Excellent service and refills without asking. Top notch even the check arrived before having to ask for it. We will be back. read more

The place is filthy and I was questioning my dinner decision immediately because if it looks filthy in the dining area, just imagine how the kitchen looks. It did not get better from there. Service was terrible. There were two young people working and they would just swing by and slam plates on the table and quickly walk away. We had to ask for silverware and we were given the wrong dish. We ended up chasing them down a few times. I won't even get into the food. It has been a long time since I have had such horrible service. Unfortunately when it comes to dining experiences in Ely, there's not a lot to choose from, but I will definitely avoid this one at all costs in the future. read more

So this was my second trip to Twin Wok. I'm sorry but when I order soup I don't expect soup that has been sitting in a pot all day. The wor wonton soup order the dumpling were so soggy I couldn't eat it. The egg foo you I ordered tasted old too. I was wondering how they filled my order in 10 minutes and it appears their food is precooked. The staff is very friendly but I don't thing I can recommend Twin Wok read more

Driving through Ely on a road trip, stopped here for dinner based on the reviews. I appreciated the COVID precautions, and only allowing curbside pickup. Service was great. We ordered the Dinner B combo with Mongolian Beef, and a separate order of Kung Pao chicken. The wonton soup that came with the dinner combo was yummy with green vegetables mixed in. The entrees were too spicy for our liking, however, and had I known I would have asked for them to be more mild. We were only able to eat about 1/4 of each entree before the spicy food overwhelmed us. If you like very spicy chinese food, this is the place to go. read more

I've been here about 4 times in 3 years....... good chinese food..........good,fresh egg rols and the chicken chow mein is nice also. Sweet and sour chicken is good.......nice clean place...... We were there near closing and watched the workers cleaning all over and when we walked by the mop bucket you could really smell the bleach which to me means it's a safe/clean place to eat. This is a good place with real chinese people cooking good tastey food.......... THANKS! read more

I'm not sure if they are still open. We tried getting dinner on a Saturday night at 6:30 pm and it was closed

Walked in based in reviews after a long long drive from San Diego. We were the only ones in the restaurant and that worried me a tad. We ordered and then people started to show up. Food arrived hot and tasty. Sweet and sour chicken was very good. Family Happiness was a good mix of meats and the sauce was amazing. All in all a good meal.....never thought Ely Nevada would have good Chinese food but they do! If you are in town....hit em up read more

Food was good, though a bit salty, odd for Chinese. But the surroundings are dilapidated. The laminated table tops are split and separating. The carpet is worn. The door is tired and worn. The window caulking is splitting. read more

Very tasty lunch buffet for $9~/adult & $7~/child. We had egg flower soup, cocktail (cold) shrimp, fried rice, green beans & beef, egg rolls, egg fu yung, sesame chicken, fried chicken & more. Service good. Inside decor is dated but this small quaint town Ely is like going back in time to "small town USA" era, surrounded by rugged beautiful mountains. read more

The soup didn't have a lot of flavor but the egg rolls were good. No drink refills and no desert offered.

Good food, reasonable. Ordered one of the combinations meals for two. people. Came with starters, a few entrees, soup, etc. Wonton soup was good, fried starters were good. Orange peel beef had a good amo-unt of actual orange peel and red chilies, and the Mongolian beef was loaded with fried green onions. Will stop by the next time we're passing through. read more

We came to this place only because we read the good reviews. What a major disappointment. I have to agree that the food was OK. However, the service of the waitress / owner ? was really really bad. We had to ask for water refills for us or napkins and a robot would've been a better waiter than this person we are very very disappointed because usually our experiencing Chinese restaurants is very very good. Unfortunately this was not the case here. read more

For Ely, Nevada this place was a bit of a surprise, our group went for lunch and we visited for dinner and we enjoyed both meals. They have several lunch specials and the dinners are equally enjoyable. This one of our favorite spots to eat when we travel through Ely! read more

Did not disappoint. Would eat here again if in the area. We had the chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, combo lo-mein and chicken fried rice. Everything was fresh and tasty. I think Twin Wok is pretty good. Ive came here a few times and it's pretty consistent. Although the server is not very outgoing, she is kind and attentive. She made sure to always refill my beverage without asking. The food is always hot. I usually get combination Lo-mein, Mongolian beef, or their chicken wings. I tried their pepper beef and didn't like it much. But the three main things I do get, taste like they should. I'd keep coming back here. :) read more

I live in Ely and it is not worth going to. I would rather stay home. I couldn't even finish my entree. It is greasy canola oil food with way too much corn starch. It is definitely Americanized Chinese food. I would go to the Happy Garden restaurant instead. read more

This restaurant was a total surprise! I didn't expect such authentic, delicious Chinese food in such a small town. We had the cashew chicken and orange beef. Both super good. read more

Much better than you would expect. Avoid typical American combo meals with all the carb-bloating accouterments like egg roll and chow mein and order dishes a la carte. We ordered spicy string beans and mapo tofu which weren't on the menu and they were happy to accommodate--even eager. They were both great, the beans crunchy and fresh, the tofu silky, and the service is friendly and attentive. The decor is reflective of then town--a hybrid of faux western and Victorian in an old Sizzlers, but just be grateful you can get respectable Chinese American food in a tiny desolate town. read more

Great food. Fast and very friendly. Will definitely be going back. The sweet and sour chicken was amazing!
