Asked for an estimate and Molly Donegan responded with a smarmy, short, almost confrontational demeanor because I was on a time crunch and didn't want to to do the whole "schedule an estimate" game. I don't trust companies that play this BS "upsell" technique, and I especially don't appreciate an arrogant, disrespectful "operations manager" (secretary). UPDATE !! Above and Beyond....My roof, which was full of black streaks and looked horrible....now shines like a brand new roof. All my neighbors commented on the home and how great the roof looked. My house looks great and I was really happy with the final results of the roof. We did have a small problem, but the owner really went above and beyond to make it right, make me happy and keep his business name in great standing! After looking into power washing, I liked Smart Wash's soft washing ability/service. I have called them 4 times now (left voicemails, and actually talked to people) over the last 3 weeks. Apparently they don't want my business. I just wish they would tell me that so I don't waste my time trying to get someone who can provide me an estimate. I had some black mold on my roof similar to that in many of the pictures on this Yelp. I looked at a DIY option using a hose end sprayer from Home Depot, but the label said it would take weeks to months for results. Looking for another option, I found Smart Wash through Yelp. After filling out the online form, I quickly received a phone call from the owner, Jon. He was able to give me a quick estimate over the phone (He even used Google Street View to get a sense of the my house without needing to come out). After agreeing on a price, he said he would try to fit me in in the next 2 weeks. Luckily, he had an unexpected opening the next day. His team was able to complete the entire job in about 2 hours while I was at work. I came home to a roof that looked amazing. My only regret was not having this done sooner! read more

Update 6/2/2016- Had a really nice talk with Jon from Smart Wash and he was able to address all of our questions and concerns. They do seem like a hard working group with an expanding business and they did demonstrate that customer satisfaction is important. I think that pays off because after talking with them, I wanted to update my Yelp. Terrible experience. After months of planning and several rescheduling issues the service was delivered as promised. Their business phone line is out of services so yoou cannot contact them, they do not respond to my emails and due to their lack of professionalism other services in my resindence were postponed or cancelled. read more

These asshats keep tossing their trashy flyers with binder clips all over my neighborhood, in the gutters, sidewalks, bushes, and front lawns. I cleaned up dozens scattered all over our streets and called to complain, then found more on the same streets the next day. If their advertising practices are like their cleaning then beware. This week they blanketed our entire neighborhood in Upper Huntington with advertisements thrown all over our streets and sidewalks. These advertisements were contained within two binder clips and just left in driveways and on sidewalks. Talk about unclean and environmentally unfriendly. They did such a fantastic job with my house and fence. When I walked into my house it smelled like a new car! I could hardly believe how amazing it smelled - who even thinks about if their house smells clean? Plus it looked like a new fence and house. If you are thinking about painting your house, do this first! They cleaned the siding, the brick facade and cleaned out my gutters. I did my research and picked them over another company for the cleaners they use and the cost. Highly recommended! read more

As far as I know, Smart Wash is one of the few roof cleaning services in the DC area. They clean with water and chlorine, so there is no risk of toxins for your children, pets, and loved ones. It was a little tricky to schedule the cleaning during the winter (because the weather is supposed to be above 40 degrees), but once the crew arrived they were efficient, thorough, and clean. They did an excellent job with our roof, and they even cleaned our deck and stairs too! Before the cleaning we had dark patches on our roof (that one roofing company tried to tell us was because the roof was permanently damaged). Now those dark patches are all gone, so obviously we made the right choice in cleaning our roof as opposed to replacing it. I'd recommend Smart Wash to anyone interested in a clean roof! read more

I have yet to have them do any work. But I send a request to talk to someone and within 1 min or less I received a call from a representative. They were very professional and knowledgeable of what I needed and they were equipped to do the work with out a water source. Don't use this company until they change their advertising practices. They advertise by blanketing neighborhoods with their flyers with clips attached to weigh them down. In my neighborhood, it appears they were simply thrown from a car and landed all over the people's yards, sidewalks, and driveways--some in the road itself (where they could easily pop a tire if someone ran over the clip). This review is for their customer service as I haven't had work done yet though I'm confident their performance would be consistent with their helpful attitudes! I needed a quote for my brick sidewalk to be cleaned (for tenant security deposit purposes) and they went above and beyond to get me a thorough estimate in an extremely short time frame. In fact it was the owner that encouraged me not to do the work at this time as it might make surrounding areas look dirtier. Had they not warned me of that I probably would have had it cleaned-not a lot of companies would be so honest as to talk you out of paying them while still treating you like a VIP customer! When we do get the whole sidewalk cleaned we will definitely use Smart Wash! read more

Great service. I coordinated the four townhouses, and we only had one hick-up, and that was due to the design of the back of our units. The crew Chuck and Eric were extremely professional, and respected our potted plants. They did a great job. We would highly recommend the company and crew. The price was right and more importantly, the process was not a pressure washer but a gentle scrub that removed the green slime from the back of all our townhouses! The only reason that I didn't give them five stars was due to the fact that they had to come back to clean one of the walls they missed due to the design of our units. read more

After the first cleaning there was still some mold on the home and the gutters were not very clean. I hired Smart Wash to clean the exterior of my townhouse and power-wash the front steps. Finding this service felt too easy to be true, especially after searching and calling many places. Working with Jon and Smart Wash was a great experience. When I called the business I spoke to a live person, not a voice mail and Jon returned my call that evening. Jon came to my home as scheduled, explained the process and addressed my concerns about my plants. There was no problem about the size of the job (since it is just a townhouse), no pressure to commit (which made me comfortable to do business with Jon), and the price was fair and competitive. Due to weather, they weren't able to come out the next day, but called me to let me know. Since it's November there aren't many good days to wash I anticipated the job being delayed until the spring, but Jon called me and was here as soon as there was break in the weather. Jon and his partner did the work themselves (no strange people I wouldn't have expected) and the process didn't drag on all day. I reviewed the work and clean up and was pleased at how good my house and front steps look.
