Great, professional service! Repairman was explained clearly his diagnosis of what was wrong with my aging dryer, how to fix it, and the cost involved. The repairman was courteous, respectful, and didn't leave a mess behind for me to clean up. read more

Their website specifically lists my zip code as an area they service, but when I called they said they don't service this area. I don't appreciate the waste of my time sitting on hold waiting to be told that. read more

I have an LG dishwasher that needed repair. I called Smart Step Repairs because they are local, have mostly great reviews and their website claims: "Our company offers shockingly low rates for speedy, high-quality service." I will say that the technician came out promptly, was professional and quickly identified a problem. It took a few days to order the part but the repair was done professionally and quickly (less than 30 minutes). However, I found their prices to be quite high. Almost $500 to replace a gasket. Also, the payment was requested to be made to ABV Systems and the receipt address indicates Brooklyn, NY, not local as advertised. I am left confused about who this company is and where they are located. read more

I have used them twice for a refrigerator and oven repair had a great experience. They are thorough, punctual and provide excellent communication. I will use them for all appliance needs. read more

Original POST - I had a terrible experience with Smart Steps Appliances. They came to fix my broken fridge, but the guy said I needed to add refrigerant which would cost me about $800. But he was not sure it would fix the problem. OK spending that much to get a "chance of fix"? Then I asked what if it does not fix it? "Well, if it works for more than 24 hours no refund" was the answer. Just out of curiosity, I asked how much to repair if it was a bad compressor, and he said it would cost $3300+ to replace it. Hello? Do you know what a brand-new fridge would cost? Smart Steps Appliances is a scam, and I don't recommend them to anyone. UPDATE on 5/26: The owner took the initiative and contacted me. He offered ways to rectify the situation. This is a positive sign the company is willing to own its responsibilities. I am updating my review to 3 stars for now. 2nd UPDATE on 5/30: The owner Alex came today in person. And he vacuumed and refilled the refrigerant in the fridge. He also explained the pricing and why the fix is on a "best-estimate" basis. He looks very professional and proficient. I now recommend this company if you have issues with appliances, especially with Samsung fridges. read more

So far so good. Good customer service. Good performance. The technician arrived on time and we worked well together to diagnose the potential challenges with our DACOR cooktop. Next steps will be the true test. Whether the replacement parts will fix the problem. read more

I chose Smart Step Repairs based on the number and level of reviews. They came to diagnose our oven that stopped working, no power. They had quoted us $600 for a control board and labor. This oven had broke previously and the previous solution was a $50 fuse. Before scheduling the expensive service I replaced the fuse myself and the oven works perfectly. I've not experienced a repairman lie to me before therefore the one star review and cautionary story. read more

My fridge stopped working so I called Smart Step Repairs. When I called, I was able to get an appointment within a day of my call. On the day of the appointment ANDREW was the service technician and he arrived on time and was very professional. Andrew explained to me his service call process and was able to diagnose the problem quickly and communicated what was needed to repair explaining that it would be more cost effective and reliable to repair it versus buying a new fridge eventhough my fridge was already 20 years old but had no problems until now. He was efficient, kept a clean work area and responded quickly to my text messages when I had questions. I also appreciated the fact that he would text me before he was on his way. My fridge is working perfectly now! Great service experience and I would definitely recommend Smart Step Repairs - hopefully Andrew will be your top notch service technician too! 5 STAR rating!!! read more

Dave did a great job fixing our oven's hinges and springs. So nice to have an oven again.

Response was quick. They tried to fix my fridge and even though they weren't able to and came out twice, they only charged the service fee.

Alexey did a wonderful job repairing my dryer! Will definitely use Smart Steps again for any service issues with household appliances.

Highly recommend. We have a rare stove Ilve that stopped working. They found the part state side and the technician was friendly, professional and well informed. A+ read more

Attentive and quality repair of our GE refrigerator. First on my list for any future possible appliance repairs.

Our oven wasn't heating properly. Then technician was knowledgeable about our unit and diagnosed the problem quickly. Smart step guy was able to get the two parts needed in under 48 hours, and our oven was repaired the following day. The price was very reasonable, and the service was best in class. We would definitely call on themagain if future repairs are needed. read more

We really liked these guys at first, and had used them for several fixes in both of our properties in Northern Virginia. They did a great job, the service technician was highly professional and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, our most recent fix went bad immediately after installation. It was a stove top that needed to be replaced, but in the subsequent days we noticed the connector pieces in the back started sparking. The timing is uncanny, and it's pretty clear that it was either faulty installation or a problem with the part itself causing the issue. Smart step wouldn't stand by their work and come back to fix. We also couldn't get a return call in over six months in order to get the warranty information on the part purchased from GE. I called upwards of 20 different times and was told I would get a call back, but never did. We ended up having to go with someone else. read more

They were very responsive and timely. The technician was great. He had to tell me the bad news that my washer was not salvagable but he answered my questions and everything was clear. Would definitely recommend. read more

It's usually hard to find good appliance repair companies. They did a fantastic job on my Viking range and even fixed a part rather than making me buy a replacement. Alexi even ended up cleaning the compressor on my fridge when he heard it was running hard. Saved to my phone and my go to going forward. read more

They were able to put my fridge repair on their schedule quickly, arrived on time, and fixed the issues. Alexey was friendly, explained the problems/repairs to me, and gave me a money-saving tip. I would definitely use them again. Cost seemed reasonable to me. read more

Bought a house recently and inherited some problems. Had an issue with the refrigerator leaking water and Smart Step showed up and in no time had the issue diagnosed and explained everything to me and started the repair. They got it fixed in no time and advised me what steps to do to make sure the problem didn't return. I've had a few different businesses in my house fixing different things recently and Smart Step ranks right at the top. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again on any repair I needed. read more

These folks are great. They have an "intake" person who schedules the appointments and maintains communication, and they are friendly and efficient. The repair folks always show up when they say they will, and they do quality work. Highly recommend! read more

Our 16 year old SubZero fridge had a loose handle and slanting shelf. Alex came the next day and fixed the shelf and identified the tiny screw, which was needed to fix the door handle. He ordered the screw, called to let us know when they'd be over to fix the door. When he came he was missing the exact tool key he needed to install it, went to Home Depot to get one and came back 3 hours later and fixed the door. While it took more back and forth than I expected, Alex was very clear about what was needed and went out of his way to get our job done. I can recommend the business happily. read more

They did a great job. They were quick, polite and got the job done same day they came in.

Our dryer failed but the appliance store service offering and manufacturer service could not respond even within a week. So, I called this repair service again because it had previously provided outstanding response time and a durable fix when the washer failed and these more traditional services also could not respond within a reasonably short time. I am pleased to report an identical outcome for the dryer as was the case for the washer. The same technician did both services and I was quite pleased with his knowledge and communication clarity. I now know that I can save time for my next breakdown because I can skip the step of quering the more traditional routes. read more

Fabulous service. Would have come same day if I had time, They came next day first thing in AM. Checked my 16 year old kenmore front loading machine. No Problem Checked the dryer..No Problem. Then for the same one time fee he checked both my sub Zeros and cleaned out the motor areas. and now , no problem. Alex was very courteous, knowledgeable and above all honest! I called Smart Step Repairs to fix my sick fridge and freezer. I was pleasantly surprised to get an appt the next day, and even more so when David, the repairman, arrived right on time! He diagnosed the problem and within 24 hours the parts were ordered. The second appt was scheduled as soon as the parts were in and again, David arrived right on time. All was fixed in short order, and the initial service fee was applied to the repair cost. David was very professional, as was the scheduler I spoke with. I would 100% use these guys again. read more

I was extremely happy with the repair job. It's difficult to find a service that can come out within a few days rather than a week. I have a manufacturer (Summit) that some others wouldn't even try to service. The problem was evaluated and remedied quickly and the charge was reasonable. Thank you. read more

Contacted this company because my fridge water dispenser was running slow. I contacted through Yelp and got a response fairly fast. I was able to schedule a consult and repair all in the same week! They are very reliable and punctual. Alex who was friendly and honest was able to quickly assess the issue and repair it fast. I would recommend using this company for your repairs. read more

Excellent same day service. The technician was professional clean and efficient. I would recommend.

When our refrigerator started acting up, I found Smart Step Repairs via a Yelp request for bid to three companies, including Smart Step Repairs. They responded quickest and had a reasonable $85 fee for a technician to diagnose the problem, which was then applicable to the repair. In our case, the replacement part was backordered, which added delays outside of Smart Step Repair's control, but once they were able to re-order the part on a Monday, they received delivery on Tuesday, and came to fix our refrigerator on Wednesday. read more

My freezer wasn't staying frozen and I was going out of town for work that night. Smart Step Repairs responded quickly, and was able to schedule an apt to come take a look h same day. Alex diagnosed the issue quickly and we agreed on a plan for when we could come back out with the part (and he was able to tell me how to get my freezer thru until then). The company communication was great (both thru Yelp messages and calling ahead when on their way) and he was on time for the follow up repair. I'll gladly call them again when I need appliance repair. read more
