Absolutely terrible!!! We had a bad experience a few weeks ago where they were unapologetic and over an hour late but thought it was a fluke and tried them again. This time they didn't even bother to show up at all. This was after calling 1st thing in the morning to confirm a noon pick up. At 12:00, no one at all!! 45 min later I'm wrangling my daughter out of school to drive me and almost missed my flight. They are awful, they are rude and they are unprofessional. After i called 2x they said oh we're sending a town car, its a janky 1990 ish car with parts missing off the hub cabs, very dusty inside and well i have allergies and asthma. Oh Smart Shuttle you use to be useful. Around the holidays every year I go skiing and (you guessed it) I take my skis. For three years I used Smart Shuttle because they accommodated my skis without issue. They would put in my sales order each year: BRING VAN HAS SKIS. I also loved that they offer door to door service. I even got my neighbors to used them. This year they wouldn't allow my skis. CAUTION: SMART SHUTTLE ABANDONS ITS CUSTOMERS 20Mar22 Ten days ago, I made arrangements with Smart Shuttle for a van to take three adults, one elderly in a wheel chair, from LAX to Thousand Oaks on the afternoon of Sunday, 20Mar22. After getting off the plane, we gathered our luggage and then called the Smart Shuttle phone- the usual procedure. It was only then that Smart Shuttle advised that they would not pick us up and offered zero assistance with arranging another way to get home. The dispatch woman offered a trivial apology as if that released Smart Shuttle of any obligation on their part and hung up. Smart Shuttle left us stranded. We had to make completely new arrangements to get home. This note is to urge travelers to not rely on Smart Shuttle. They certainly failed us that afternoon. Awful customer service. Awful. read more

Terrible. So disappointed that both departure and arrival resulted in a bad experience. I was in a town car with no shocks on the way over. Then the at runs out of gas! Yes, out of gas. I'm sitting at Tom Bradley international terminal and have been told three times it'll be 20 more minutes. It's been 2 hours since I called to say I'd arrived. No apologies. Smart Shuttle's failure to pick up my wife and me, even after receiving a confirmation, meant a $182.00 parking fee at the San Luis Obispo Airport. On 1/12 we were leaving SBP for a 6:00 am flight to LAX where we were catching a flight to South America. Because we would be gone 14 days we didn't want to pay $13.00/day to park at the airport and booked with Smart Shuttle. We received several email confirmations. At the 4:45am pick-up time I got a call from a taxi service in San Luis Obispo saying that Smart Shuttle could NOT make the agreed upon pick-up. He said he could drive us, but unfortunately he was at least 20 minutes from our home and accepting a ride from the taxi would have meant missing our plane. We drove our car and parked at the airport, paying $182.00. The quote from Smart Shuttle for the round trip was $39.00, a significant and unwelcome difference. At LAX I emailed Smart Shuttle requesting a refund and apology. I received the refund, but I'm still waiting for the apology. This is even after calling them and requesting to speak with the manager who was not available. I was told my concern would be passed on. "Passed on" it was as the request has apparently died. If dependable service is what you want, don't bet on these guys. read more

BEWARE . We Called Roadrunner Shuttle and were connected to this service so we thought it was recommended by Roadrunner Shuttle. We hired them to take us to LAX and then Meet and Greet us upon our return for the return trip home. What a HUGE mistake. Roadrunner should be ashamed of themselves for forwarding us to this service. I am writing this review because we need it to be known what happened to us and hopefully wont happen to you. Where do I begin. Christmas morning Shuttle to LAX to start our 10 day holiday vacation. The car was FILTHY and smelled like musty bad b.o and was not cleaned whatsoever prior to picking us up. There was not enough room for our Luggage and had to sit with our carry on bags wedged between me and my wife. Then to top that of the Car was NOT mechanically maintained since the Check engine light, service engine soon light AND the ABS brake light were glaring at me once we started on our way. I mentioned it to my wife and we could not believe they were jeopardizing our safety along with the probability that we might break down at any time! We were shocked even more when I mentioned it to the driver and he said " You must have never used this service before " Like it was a regular thing disregarding the lives of those you are paid to drive to their destinations safely. When we got on the 101 freeway the car was acting up at highway speed so I tried to see how fast we were going and the Speedometer was broken so you could not see how fast you were going!! Uh....isn't that illegal? Also the left passenger door quarter glass had been replaced and the seal was whistling loudly in my wife's ear. I was starting to really freak out and asked if we could stop in Camarillo and trade cars because I doubted we were going to make it. The driver said the other cars were already taken so we could not switch cars. I looked at my wife and could see how uncomfortable she was and grabbed her hand to comfort her. We had no choice but to continue on or miss our flight. Along the way I noticed the driver having a hard time keeping his eyes open and was drifting across the lanes so I went into protect mode and started chatting with him to keep him awake. I noticed he kept taking off his hat and rubbing his head and drinking water from his water bottle to keep him alert at that point so it was working and as we got near to LAX he apologized for his earlier demeaner and got chatty again and turned on Christmas music . We were just glad to be within eyesight of LAX at this point and on time for our flight. What a scary way to start our trip. Return Meet and Greet I called Smart shuttle 3 days prior to our return and asked to speak to a Manager. No Manager on hand so I explained what happened on the original shuttle to LAX and that I wanted to make sure that they would send a large enough vehicle in mechanically safe condition this time. They apologized and told me they would note my account and that it would be taken care of. I said I would have to take it to another level if they risked our safety/lives again so please send us a nice ride this time. I also called the day before to make sure they knew what time our plane landed and that the meet and greet was still on schedule. They said they had the arrival time, gate etc. and they would be there. We arrived on time and THEY WERE NOT THERE ! I loaded all of our stuff on to a luggage cart and went outside to call and find out what happened.They said he was very close and to wait curbside for him. 15 minutes later the driver called and said 10 minutes. He ended up 50 minutes late! When I saw him pulling up It looked like the same car....AND IT WAS THE SAME POS ! I asked him if this was a Joke or something. He said to take it up with the company, he had no control over it. The car was even more filthy than before ! All the same lights were on and our luggage once again was jambed in the back seat with us. I was so angry that they did this to us again that I knew I needed to video and take pictures of everything to document how they have a Blatant Disregard for client safety or their health and comfort. The return trip was over 2 hours. Once again the driver was nice but he should not be driving long runs. I cant tell you how many times he hit the brakes so hard that my phone etc. flew of my lap down onto the floor. My wife hardly said a word the whole way and by the time we got back I felt carsick from all the swerving,hard braking and stress. I immediately called my credit card company and explained what happened and they are disputing the charges. Upon further investigation I found that I was CHARGED TWICE for the first ride so they hopefully will be investigated for credit card embezzling as well. I feel really bad for the drivers. It really is messed up that the company cannot provide safe cars for them to drive. What a disappointment. We decided to go with this company for a private van to LAX because they advertised in Axxess and we wanted to support a local company. We won't again unfortunately. Besides being 10 minutes late to pick us up, the driver never got out of his van until all bags were sitting behind the van and we were trying to get into the van. He pulled up so we only had access into the van from the street which wasn't safe for my 2 year old son and me being 7 months pregnant. Never even offered to help us into the van (although there was a step stool in the van that I tripped over which I'm sure was meant for this). The child seat they provided was broken and the driver not once offered to help strap it into the van. When asked why the child restraint wasn't loosening, he stated, "I can't help you. I don't know anything about it." After all this, we didn't get going until 35 min after our scheduled pickup time. The van was dirty and acted as if it was going to break down the entire trip out to LAX. I actually feared we wouldn't make it. At one point, all the windows fogged up and you couldn't see out the front window. I was a moment from asking him if he had a defroster when he used the windshield wipers to see. It was a very bumpy ride and the driver was all over the road (I'm guessing trying to make up lost time). He created no conversation or interaction with us at all until it got time for dropoff (last 10 minutes doesn't earn you the best tip). It was subpar service with even worse customer service. Shuttle was over 45 minutes late from my confirmed pick up time with no call to let me know. Had to call to inquire where my shuttle was. Had even called earlier because my flight landed early so they were well aware I was waiting. If you're traveling to or from Ventura area. Just use the Airporter for less than half the price, or get an Uber for the same price as this overpriced "service". Why have pick up times of you aren't going to hold yourself to them? Your customers time is valuable and we paid a higher price expecting our time to be valued as such. You charge people if they're late, but don't refund customers if your drivers are late. read more

I booked a trip from LAX to Santa Barbara for early April and unfortunately had to cancel the trip due to the governor mandated shelter in place for the state of California. FEDERAL LAW to only go out for essential services. I assumed that I would be given a refund due to the circumstances, since airlines were also being flexible, I assumed Smart shuttle would be flexible too.... NOPE. Smart Shuttle is an oxymoron. Like so many others I never made it to the ride and end up canceling then had to deal with trying to get a refund. So the user signs up for a ride - providing your credit card information, destination and pick-up time. The user then receives a confirmation email that says your ride is not confirmed until an employee reviews and approves. I received the confirmation email the next day confirming my ride. The following day I also received a nice reminder. Then the day before, I receive an email that my pick-up time is now confirmed for an hour-and-a-half earlier than previously confirmed. If they were charging a discounted fare, I might be more understanding, but their fare is similar to UBER/LYFT. They didn't bother to inquire if I had any flexibility. They took my money, then told me when they'd stop by. Considering the other reviews - sounds like a service to avoid. read more

Driver was on the phone the entire time, took my mother around town looking for the destination, claimed he didn't have the address, had to call the company to get it and was told "Ask the passenger!" When I called to report all of this, I was hung up on TWICE and a manager has YET to call me back. I am planning to look into any legal recourse here, since being on his phone while driving in an unsafe vehicle is illegal! I was told "She arrived, didn't she, what do you expect us to do?" Booked with this company because Roadrunner is no longer doing LAX runs any longer. Requested to be picked up upon arrival as there was no luggage involved. Waited over 40 minutes for the driver to show up. The only thing they got right was the private car. Driver was an older gentleman and he had some serious issues staying in our lane. I didn't think it was too late, but maybe 10:30pm was late for him. Really wanted to get out of the car, but will never use this company again. I have tried this shuttle service twice, and both times have been terrible experiences. On my last trip, I was picked up at 4:40AM for a Saturday LAX departure at 9:30. Dispatcher said the early pickup was to make sure I get there by 8:30, given traffic. I arrived at LAX at 5:40 because there is no Saturday morning traffic and had to wait four hours at LAX. The other two rideshare passengers arrived three hours early for their flights. On the return shuttle, I was picked up on time by a filthy town car, then taken to a CVS parking lot to wait an hour before returning to the airport for the next three pickups. The car was overcrowded, with three passengers squeezed into the back seat, and not enough trunk space for all the luggage. The drivers were professional, but the company is extremely disorganized. This is a terribly run and inefficient shuttle company. Our shuttle to the airport broke down on the way to us, and they had to order us Ubers at 2am. The return shuttle picked us up on time at 10:15, but didn't leave LAX until 12:15 because their last passengers didn't arrive until 11pm and then had to clear customers. Just awful time and shuttle management. I will only use them as a last resort in the future. read more

This company was terrible! I will NEVER use them again. We scheduled a specific time and spent extra to get picked up and delivered to our destination in a timely manner but that did not happen. They make it seem like they have many vans running every 10 minutes and it is very deceptive. After being on airplanes all day we got picked up at 5:30 but they said they had to wait for one more customer before leaving. His plane was still in the air and he had to pick up luggage as well. We circled the airport for 2 hours waiting for his plane to land which was late. We got to our destination at 9:30 pm. Our driver was kind and tried to get his company to send another van for him be they refused. I called the company and they were very rude. Terrible customer service!! Unproffessional. Absolutely miss Road Runner Shuttle, they serviced Ventura County/Camarillo before it became Smart Shuttle. I did continued to use their service, the drivers where awesome (thank you Augustine, Judy...) 2021: 1 of my last pickups from LAX my flight arrived a few minutes later from scheduled pickup, I called that I arrived-I did not get picked up until 1 1/2 hrs later. Another time I arrived in LAX I called the company for a pickup but was told I had to make an appointment for pick up a week in advance!? When did this policy begin and it certainly did not state that on there website as the lady mentioned to me. 2- For my return trip I scheduled a pick up- I waited for the usual 4pm confirmation call and did not get one so I called the company to make sure I had my next day early AM pickup, I had no reservation for a pickup?! This was impossible BUT yes I was told I had no reservation, this woman was unwilling to help me or try to remedy this. I needed that pickup. It did not matter to her how stressed I was over this. Frantic because she was useless over the phone and did not want to pick up my calls when I used my cellphone and landline. I had to call on a neighbor that I barely met, he was a gentleman (he became a wonderful friend). He took my elder Mom and me to LAX. 3- I had to come out to CA again, I made my reservation online, even had my confirmation number verified online emailed to me, great. The day before my flight out, I waited for their confirmation call - nothing! I called and their phone rang nonstop no-one would picked up my call. They have my number, email and reservation. I called my niece and asked her to do me a favor, call this companies number and give them my confirmation number. Wow did they pick up her call right away and yes they had my confirmation number and they told her I should call them back. I asked my niece to come pick me up, as back up if the shuttle did not come in the morning... I still did not get my call. The drivers use to get to my house 15 minutes earlier for departure to the airport. Not this time and when Augustine showed up, it was good to be able to explain everything to him. My disappointment, awful customer service not even a return phone call. I did not want my credit card to be charged for this disservice. This company has TERRIBLE customer service. Their customer service representative, DESIREEE is NOT friendly trained as the description of the company says. She has no compassion or integrity what so ever! She spoke to me very derogatory and made it seem like it was my fault. My encounter with Smart Shuttle. I made online reservations, 6 weeks in advance for a ride to LAX & return also. Two & a half weeks before I left on my trip I changed my return flight date/ time. I immediately call Smart Shuttle to make the revisions! It was a simple phone call to which I provided them my new flight #, date and time. I asked for a confirmation of the phone call of the changes which I did receive an email! My ride to the airport, the driver Reggie was very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, compassionate, has integrity & great customer service! My flight left at 6a and i was picked up at 2:15a he was there on time, a little early! Returning from my trip I had no ride and called and Desiree was hostile and was so assuring that her system Was correct to show the old return flight time but for that day. I advised her of the email confirmation & that there must be a glitch in their system, she was argumentative, never apologized and was telling me i would have to wait you til 11:52p! (It was barely reaching 6p) she wanted to continue to get sassy and i asked how can we resolve this and she placed me on hold to say they couldn't do anything. I told her i was charged she said "no we only charged you for the pick up!" I asked her what would she do if she her mother, sister or grandmother were in my situation and advised her she should be more compassionate and have more integrity over the phone to someone who has written proof & is a customer instead of arguing me down as if I had something to lie about. Well the next morning I call asked for the manager Laura, who Desiree said she left a message to call me, she wasn't available so Alice, Lead Customer Rep. was told about the situation, said she will review the recordings and will properly train and reprimand Desiree as needed & advised she'll call me back in about 48hrs! Well it's now a month later, no call back from Laura or Alice! Don't waste your time or money. If so call call call them to make sure they have their information correct and their system is not inserting a wrong time other than the confirmation email you received!! I will drive myself or go through a more reputable company next time or pay to park my car while on vacation!! After digging on this company they are part of tree BBB & their responses are completely UNPROFESSIONAL from the owner, also no integrity and it very much may just hire family members out of high school like Desiree!! This companies bread & Butter is Medi-Cal, taking seniors & the community to dialysis, doctor appts and ride homes after being hospitalized. very seldom don't they drive to LAX! Don't even think about using this service for shared ride to/from the airport. On the way to LAX, we were told our pickup time would be 3 hours before our desired time to be at the airport (mid-day, weekday) - earlier than a service has ever planned. Then the van was 45 mins late. The van was filthy - food all over. On the return, our email that confirmed our payment stated we were confirmed for a 9:45pm pickup. Our plane was on time, so I called as directed on arrival. The driver texted me he would be there in 25 minutes. This was all reasonable. However, then he informed me that he also needed to pick up people at 10:30pm and 11:30pm, so we wouldn't be leaving until after that. I called the dispatcher who stated there was only one driver available. We had been traveling for over 24 hours at that point - we cancelled the van (no refund, of course) and paid the same amount to Uber home. We were picked up in 15 minutes and efficiently driven to the Conejo Valley - home by 11pm, before we would have even been leaving the airport with Smart Shuttle. Not a great business model. Called this shuttle was put on perpetual hold and when they finally answered they said they need 48 hours to book a reservation ( which I called in ample time) but they couldn't accommodate us because they were booked. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! My 70 year old mother booked a shared ride van to the airport and a damaged, worn out, incredibly dirty car looking like it had just come from the junk yard arrived. She had no choice but to take the service as she didn't have another option to get to the airport. She worried for her safety, concerned the car would not hold up were they to get in an accident. The driver was kind but not in a uniform as described on the website. The car had over 280,000 miles on it. So incredibly unprofessional and disappointing. When my mom called to complain they were so rude to her and claimed she has no grounds to complain since she got in the car. Again - do not use this company. read more

Why isn't there an option for zero stars? A month ago I scheduled Smart Shuttle from overseas to pick me up at LAX for a ride home to Thousand Oaks, when I learned Roadrunner was no longer providing airport service. I went with Smart on Roadrunner's recommendation. Smart sent my confirmation, which showed them picking me up in TO for a trip to LAX, the opposite of what I requested. That should have been a warning. They fixed this after a second phone call. My flight got in to LAX an hour late. I cleared immigration and customs and called them to send the driver, as they told me to do over the phone when I made my reservation. The Smart phone rep said because I was late, and because I had "failed" to notify them that I was late, their van had left. You'll send another one, right? No, she said. The problem was mine because I failed to let them know I would be late. She said this twice. She was not pleasant. I'd asked Smart about their airport pick up procedure when I made my reservation. All they said was to call them when I had my luggage in hand. Nothing about notifying them in case of late arrival. Roadrunner, who I'd used for years, never required this. Besides, they had my flight information and could have easily accessed arrival data on the Internet. So there we were, my wife and me, off a 13-hour redeye from Manila, at 11:30 PM, stranded at LAX, with no chioce but to hire a cab for $154 to get home. I received Horrible customer service from Smart Shuttle on Friday Oct12. I set up with them to pick myself and my wife from the Port of San Pedro. I chose them because the Shuttle would be easy to spot the crowded port over Uber or Lyft because Of the ease of recognize the shuttle. I called 2 days early she said it would be easy to identify white shuttle with their name on it Friday came and driver calls me he is in Black Suburbn Of which their were several. We got in and asked him to turn on the AC it was 90 degrees. We had to roll down the windows and drove into the smoke of several Fires. We arrived home with my wife coughing and sweating, she has COPD. She ended up going to the Dr for Medicean for her lungs! I called Smart Shuttle in Camarillo and told my story to the receptionist because the Manager was not taking calls. This shuttle took over for Roadrunner, but dies not offer the flexibility or customer service. They pick you up on their terms, not yours, and don't tell you when they will arrive until the night before. My daughter was picked up aid TO at 8:30 am for a 1pm flight in Burbank, a 50 minute ride away during a non-holiday week. In additi on, they charge extra tor a second checked bag. They have a monopoly in the area, however, so they don't need to be customer focussed. If you are going to the airport, use Uber or Lyft line instead. They are about the same price but more flexibility. read more

I have used smart Shuttle twice. Both were town car requests. The trip to LAX was very good but the return trip was a complete disaster. We were picked up in a 10 seat van that has had coffee and drink spilled all over the seats. The van was late and very uncomfortable. I can not recommend smart Shuttle if you are looking for a clean comfortable ride. I booked the town car because of my wife's health. My first experience with them was nice and professional. I don't know what happened, maybe a change in manager or secretary, but it's horrible now. Driver picked me up nearly 2 hours after my reservation time with no explanation. Secretary was very rude and aloof. I've been trying to get a hold of a supervisor to no avail. Evidently "Laura" doesn't return calls per the rude secretary. I want answers! My friends and colleagues used to use this service religiously, but we're moving on. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! This is a shot in the dark but thought I'd at least try. As anyone been in a car accident with one of their shuttles and the driver of the shuttle was at fault? We recently got into an accident that took place nearly three weeks ago and Smart Shuttle has yet to even lift a finger in order to help resolve this and fix our vehicle. Any advice, suggestions, and/or tips would be greatly appreciated! What should have been an easy resolution is now turning into an unnecessary headache. read more

Booked an airport transfer for the next evening on their website and did not receive a confirmation email, so the next morning I called and the team member said she'd just gotten in and was processing the overnight bookings, but she saw my name and reservation in the list (at this point I should have asked for the confirmation number but forgot). I called again when my plane landed to confirm and that attendant said there was no reservation at all, and proceeded to tell me that I must have booked it on another website because they require 48 hours' notice and their website would not allow it to book (but it did). Instead of apologizing, she just kept telling me it wasn't possible and that I must have made a mistake. Yeah. Not using them the next time I'm in Ventura County. read more

Ordered a towncar a week in advance and got a beat up shuttle bus that was an hour late. Never again

Horrible. Don't ever use. Two senior citizens over 70 year and one old lady who is actively handicapped left stranded at lax. We paid 180$ for a private car from lax to ventura. Booked it a month in advance and they charged right away. Then it was also to be a meet and greet to help with bags. The driver texts me and says he can't do a meet and greet for whatever reason. Then when we get outside and call driver he has some cockimamy story that his ride he dropped off is having issue with their airplane ticket. So instead of picking up his next ride (already paid) he said we should find another ride and was impertinent and rude. And said he is refusing service. Leaving us stranded at lax. It's funny because he said something about we wouldn't want to leave an old lady stranded at the airport and that is what he did. The dispatch I will say to thier credit was very ticked off at the driver because he had no right just to refuse service for a paid customer. He should of told the person he just dropped off to find another ride back. I even offered to take the other party back to ventura but the impertinent gentle man refused to do so. I'm the end it sounded like financial kickback to the driver. In the end smart shuttle sent another full van for us some many hours later. However we had to go the many stops before instead of having the ride we paid for. If they tell you "johnathan" is coming for you I would recommend you request a different driver because you never know what issue he will have and he is not reliable. Frankly speaking we would recommend not to use smart shuttle as they are unreliable. We have had multiple problems with their drivers. We have a had a good experience with two drivers so I give credit to those two gentlemen. but that does not resolve the fact that the company left two senior citizens and one handicapped stranded at Los Angeles airport and they had no control over their driver. Then in the end I have tried calling the office and leave you on hold for very long time. This time I have been on hold for half an hour and the manager refuses to call back. I am one who had previously given a very positive review of Smart Shuttle, which was before the company was sold. I continued to use them, hoping all my experiences would be excellent. But after my experiences returning from the airport last month, and last night, I think I am ready for a change. Last month, I was picked up by a very nice driver, who said he had another passenger we had to wait for, even though that person had never confirmed his/her reservation. In the meantime, a motorcycle cop stopped the driver and after a long conversation, issued a citation for not having a permit on display in the window. The driver searched and couldn't find anything. (This would be the company's fault, and not the driver's.) In the end, the other passenger was a no-show, but the company policy is that you have to wait an hour before leaving. Last night, I got into the van at about 6:40 pm, and was told by the driver that he had two other groups to pick up. I expected this, as i knew it was a shared ride. However, I wound up sitting in the van for 2 1/2 hours until the last group was picked up. Part of the time was spent sitting on a side street waiting for the second passenger to land. After picking her up we again left the airport and sat on a side street, before the driver began circling the terminal over and over again. The driver, Lorenzo, was friendly, helpful, and apologetic, but I think that it is unreasonable to have to wait that long, especially when the flights were on time or early. Lastly, the van did not have any area to store luggage, so the driver used the first row and the front passenger seat for storage, while we all had to sit towards the back. This was the worst shuttle ride I've ever heard of. The driver came over an hour after I called at LAX and was very unfriendly. He asked all of us to decide the order we'd get dropped off. The whole situation was very unprofessional. I really miss Roadrunner. read more
