This is not the first time this happened but this time I will not let it pass. They charge me $3.26 for the tilapia fish when it clearly says on sale for $1.95. I tried to argue that it says $1.95 but cashier keep on telling me that the reduced price was the price per pound. I did not want to argue anymore because of the long line and people looking. This location is probably just cursed. This store has been changed multiple times in the past couple of years from vons to haggens to now smart&final. The selection here is decent but not that great. Quick tip...there's a Walmart neighborhood market a little farther down Diamond Bar Blvd with better choices and prices. The main reason I'm giving two stars is the customer service. My boyfriend and I called to ask if they had a redbox because we wanted to drop off a DVD. The employee clearly stated they they indeed had a redbox so we drove over there and lo and behold...no redbox to be found. Honestly they really need to train their employees on some basic knowledge like whether or not their location has a redbox. I don't understand why the employee felt the need to lie to me instead of just stating that she didn't know. If she was too lazy to check she could have just said, "sorry I'm not sure." It was just very frustrating having wasted my time when I could have driven somewhere else. read more

I went this evening to this store after 9pm unaware of the closing time. While in the meat section, a guy staff told me with upset face that the store is closed. He just told me it's time to go home. I was expecting the store staff would announce it's closing. However, the staff that approached me did not have a good customer service in speaking to the customer. I seldom go to their store, so he should be at least spoke nicely to a customer about their closing time since I saw him passing by few minutes before he came to me. I know it's been a long day but he should know that his attitude is also reflecting with his co-workers' & the store where he works with. Good thing the cashier has better customer relation at least made me felt less offended. I actually told her I was sorry since I was not familiar with the store & their closing time but she was still all-smiles & told me that I'm good. It's convenient that this market is literally down the street from where boyfriend and I live so we frequent this place plenty of times for our weekly grocery needs. For the most part I enjoy this place because parking isn't nasty diagonal and the items are fairly cheaper than most grocery stores around the area besides Walmart market. I love the bulk section where they have an assortment of dried goods like nuts and granola (as well as candy but I've never tried candy from there since I'm not a sweets person). It's usually always about 40c-50c cheaper per pound than Albertsons and Walmart's bagged brands. They also sell affordable eggs in bulk where you can buy 150 eggs for $13.00ish (split it with other members of the family turns out to be $1.00ish per box). I'm also very grateful that they sell non-dairy yogurt from 'So Delicious' brand although a tad more expensive at $2.40 per one after tax than Walmart in Chino Hills ($1.49) because no other grocery stores sell them and only stock very limited non-dairy items. The cool thing is that sell restaurant stuff like to-go boxes and sauce containers in bulk at this location like their original sister stores. Other than the ones just listed, everything else is kind of pricey (i.e. fruits & vegetables) than the cheapest place I found, Walmart market, as mentioned before. But the staff has always been amazing kind and very nice towards us, they even gave me candy on Halloween because I went shopping in my costume and staff applauded me for having Halloween spirit. LOL. Although the only gripe I found is that they have a habit of always only having one cash register open and sometimes the line gets 8-10 customer deep and can take some time to get home because of said line. read more

Worst customer service ever from Denise! I was shopping in the aisle and the smart final worker by the name of "Denise" came into the aisle put things back on the shelf. Over the speaker i heard another employee ask denise can you open another register. Denise's loud response in the aisle was "oh shit Denise isnt here she sick" and went up to the front right off the bat i knew lazy employee that doesnt want to be here. A few minutes later i went up to pay there where 2 lanes only open so i get into the lane that was shorter happened to be Denise at the register. She yells and tells me she's open at the other lane as well you can go there. I told her no her lane is longer then yours she said no its shorter then she happens to go look and says oh it is never mind. I put my stuff on the belt and Denise throws the stick the separates everyones stuff from getting mixed up to where im putting my stuff so i move it out of the way and she rudely says that goes behind your stuff. I told her im not done putting my stuff so I dont know why u throw it and put it there when im still putting my stuff up. Then the lady in front of me asked that something she was going to buy had a different price then what denise charged her and Denise says god ill check she tells the lady you can leave your card in the atm to pay and the lady said no thanks i dont want you to charge me at 9.99 and denise yells across the store that it was 9.99 not 5.99. The lady did not buy the product. Now its my turn to pay rude as hell didnt even say hi hello nothing she just starts talking shit about the lady customer that had just left saying " well obviously she didnt want it that bad because if you want something your going to pay for it at whatever price it is so i guess she disnt want it that bad" I didnt say nothing didnt care wasnt my business. Now my total was 52.16 iGave Denise $60 she puts down that i gave her 55.00 and says oh i messed up im just going to give you the change that i owe you. Hands my my money and coins and litterally walks away. So i stop and i check my change and noticed wait something isnt right. She still owed me a dollar. I go and tell the other girl at the register that denise gave me the wrong change. So she calls her on the speaker denise walks up and the other girl tells her he said you gave him the wrong change. She rudely says i gave you the right change i told her no you gave my 6 dollars you owe me a dollar still. I show her and she oh yea! She goes to the register and says "god its just a dollar" I told her yea just a dollar my dollar not yours! Ive been coming here for a long time and ive never had an issue with anyone working there till now. I dont know who would be or was dumb enough to hire and not see the type of person and customer service that this employee gives to customers you can tell she doesn't like working she doesnt like people. She's lazy and thinks its ok to talk bad about customers shes rude and she thinks she is correct. Not shopping st this store anymore! read more

Been in Diamond Bar for 11 years, seen a few stores in this location before Smart & Final. The store itself is clean and for the most part stocked with the items I'm in need of at the time of my shopping. Denise the cashier is excellent! The reviews I've read about her are very much fabricated. She is friendly. She may talk a little more with customers after she has rang them up which is ok as long as the line is not increasing because of her conversation. She is an employee of Smart & Final and her job is to cashier, not provide therapy! It's not her responsibility to make you feel good about yourself, or make sure you have a great day! Give me a break!!! All employees can use additional customer service training, not just her. And what needs to be addressed is the lack of cashiers during rush hours such as after work or early morning. There may be 1-2 registers open when they have the most customers shopping, so let's start there! read more

This is probably one of the worst smart and finals I've been to. Produce is always A few days away from Rotting. Several times I have bought meat it was spoiled. I've bought macaroni salad that had been spoiled. I think I'm pretty much going to stay away from this smart and final. The only thing that you can buy it it's not a risk seems to be just canned goods. And highly processed foods that don't spoil anyway. read more

For the past few visits to S&F I have experienced the best customer service since there opening. It all started with a nice greeting the second I walked in (even scared me!). As I made my way up/down the aisles, every employee I came in contact with asked "can I help you find anything"? (With a smile!)... but the best part was "The Line".....yes BEST part! However their staff was very friendly and helpful: offering my wife and I all kinds of assistance. The store is great i was there yesterday and there is this casheir named Denise she is always happy she ask how are you doing and did you find everything ok. After a response I then ask her how is she doing her reply is "I'm always good". As i have read all of your responces on this cite about a bad customer service rep name Denise and that is not the person I see. First of all I see her every time I come in she says welcome when I walk in ,she makes me laugh at the registers, she is always smiling and she sings. Yes some stores may have a bad seed but from my experience if you are having a hard day Denise sencirely cares about people and how they are feeling. We try to support local businesses and have been shopping here. We bought last minute Thanksgiving grocery items today and had the worse experience at this store. Cashier on lane #2 name Jennifer was talking to her fellow coworker discussing why people are grocery shopping on thanksgiving day. She did not greet any customers, she handed me the receipt without looking at me or even saying thank you. We had to lean over and grab our groceries instead of her pressing the belt to move our items at the end of the counter. There are lots of people that are unemployed. If you do not like to work then quit your job and allow other people to work. It was such a terrible experience on Thanksgiving Day. I will never shop at this place again. I went and told the employee stocking in produce in which he acted as though he did not care! Quite disturbing. I'd rather shop at the Walmart or Albertsons as both are really clean. I haven't eaten in two days because these people keep mysteriously "cancelled " order. Yesterday they were supposed to deliver my order YESTERDAY between 5-6 pm. They never showed up. No call, no excuse nor information provided. They just didn't show up. Today they sent me text informing me that they'd be at my house at 2:20. I got a call from the driver informing me that she was " in front of your house." My house is in Norwalk, CA, the driver was in Lancaster, CA, approximately 40 miles away. Now I learn that they've cancelled my order AGAIN. There reason for existence is to move parcels from one place to another, yet they have consistently demonstrated that they are inherently incompetent at the tasks they attempt to undertake. They apparently don't bother with hi-tech gadgets like GPS nor the apparently outraged tool of postal Zip Codes. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!! When I heard smart & final was replacing Haggens, I was less than thrilled. I am still hoping DB will get a Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, or Sprouts one of these days. To be honest, I never thought I would have a need to go to smart & final. To my surprise, this Smart & Final Extra has really wow-ed me! The prices are a great value, and the vast product selection is awesome! I love that I had never realized that Smart & Final carried so many useful products. I love that this place has bins and barrels for scooping, which allows me to get just enough of what I need. I hope this grocery store is here to stay. And maybe that they will get a Starbucks inside...one can dream! read more

There always seems to be incredibly long lines and not enough employees. All of their merchandise is definitely much cheaper than other markets-often half price! The main reason I don't like coming here is because the produce selection is limited and it never tastes good. All of the produce tastes like it isn't ripe yet but it spoils quickly after purchasing. It's worth the drive up the street to Albertsons for produce. I alwish they carried more brands. Most of the brands I used to get at Von's or Albertsons aren't available here. It's a really weird limited selection with a lot of restaurant-style bulk items. It seems like there should be fewer bulk things if it's a neighborhood market. read more

Poor service...two registers open on a Sunday afternoon...each line 10 deep with customers. Prices on staple items like spaghetti sauce almost $1 more expensive per jar than Walmart grocery down the street, bread $1.25 more per loaf than even albertsons and milk $50-$1 more per gallon than Ralph's ...even bulk items seem to be expensive...like I need a gallon of pancake syrup? Or 200 ice cream cones? Maybe it is good for school fairs or people that have 10 children, but I just don't get it. Not impressed with prices and not impressed with the people.
