We went on a road trip to Tennessee and stopped here for breakfast + coffee before Dollywood. The coffee, pastries, and cookies were delicious. Everyone was very nice and the location was clean. We ended up going a second time before we left to get more of the peppermint chip cookies (seasonal) that should be made a permanent item. Added to our must-do list for when we visit the area again.

We had an amazing, sweet and happy waitress named Heather, and she was so attentive! LOVED HER! Before moving on - they give coupons for free fudge and a free little bottle of gems at the neighboring gen mine! As in free - free! Ok, now for the food - absolutely delicious and plentiful. I had a mountain berry crepe along with pecan pancakes. FOUR BIG pancakes! The bacon was perfectly crispy too - the whole meal was just spot on. I know it's just bacon and pancakes...but the people, and place made them taste like the best ever. A fun place, and affordable too.

And then I looked again, hoping that maybe something low-calorie or nutrient-dense was hiding and I just needed to look harder. Nope. But if you're looking for a sandwich that consists of chicken tenders between two glazed donuts, then this is your place. Sawyer's has other things that are not so county-fair forward. They are known for breakfast: French toast, pancakes, omelettes. If you get pancakes or waffles or the like, you should definitely ask for their house-made peanut butter syrup. It's amazing and so unlike anything that I've ever tasted. I got an omelette, which was good and had a lot of stuff in it. They will give you hot sauce upon request, which I was grateful for because I thought the omelette needed it. One thing that's really cool about Sawyer's is that they seem to take food allergies very seriously. That's always nice to see! As you're entering or exiting, make sure to admire the decor. It looks like you're in a barn, and as you exit, there's a gift shop with stuffed animals, t-shirts and other things to commemorate your visit to Sawyer's. This is a fun little place that's great for families, for sure.

I ordered the traditional schnitzel (pork cutlet that was pounded thin). It was not breaded, but it was coated with egg and flour and prepared well. I had the German potato salad and red cabbage side orders. Both were served warm as is custom. I was a bit upset that the waiter gave me the bill when the meal was finished. I told him it was my birthday and that I had wanted coffee and cake. He took the bill and crumpled it in his hand. The portion of cake that he presented could have easily served three! I left the top frosting. The chocolate cake was moist and the frosting between the layers was German chocolate. Available seating offerings were a booth, table, or a table al fresco. It had the beer garden appeal. I opted to sit inside. The restaurant is also very family oriented (as are most things in Pigeon Forge). Prices were reasonable, food was served at the correct temperature, portions were prodigious. The venue was also immaculate. I would recommend this tavern to anyone who appreciates German fare.

Cant recommend.

My absolute favorite is the strawberry jelly. It was SO good that I had to bring some home--and yes, they sell it by the jar! From the delicious Southern food to the family-style serving and that amazing strawberry jelly, Mama's Farmhouse was definitely one of our favorite meals of the trip. Never have I really ventured outside of that and I couldn't actually tell you why. When my kids and I made a quick 1 day Dollywood trip over to Pigeon Forge, 23 we're looking for a place to eat prior to the big day at the park. What's funny is I relied in Googles AI (Gemini) to tell me where to go. I was driving around and was asking for recommendations. It said Mama's Farmhouse was a popular place to eat for families and it was all-you-can-eat. The kids wanted fried chicken and Salisbury steak, which was in the menu for that day. What a coincidence! If I could summarize it, this is basically a local Cracker Barrel-style restaurant but the food is a lot better. It's tucked away off of a side road off of the main highway 321 road and reminds me a lot of the Applebarn Restaurant down the road. The ambiance is this old timey feel, like many of the establishments around the area. The fried chicken (bone-in), chicken tenders, fries catfish, and Salisbury steak was what we ordered for our mains. Everything was delicious! The seasoning had the perfect amount of salt across all the dishes and sides. The chicken was juicy and tender. The Salisbury steak was solid, some of the best I've ever had. Savory, rich brown gravy, and tender chunks of beef. All the sides were amazing too, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and chicken and dumplings. Honestly there wasn't a negative thing about this place. I would go back in a heartbeat!!
