Small Point is a cozy spot in the middle of downtown Providence. It's a great place to set up shop to do some work, have a meeting, or just hang. The space is divided interestingly; at first I thought there was a dedicated work space because one area was so quiet when I stopped in a little before lunchtime. They have a great variety of options on their menu, but I am a sucker for anything with color so I order the taro latte without fail every time. I've heard great things of their Mexican hot chocolate as well! Drinks do take a bit to come out, but that's okay with me when my latte looks this adorable! read more

Small point cafe is a quirky little coffee shop on Westminster! Warning: Parking around here can be hard to find for anyone not on foot. I ordered the horchata based on the baristas suggestion which was a 10/10. For anyone who's never had horchata I believe it's Mexican coffee made with a rice base, vanilla, and cinnamon. Great for any fans of vanilla chai. My only remark is that it took close to 25 minutes for my bagel with egg and avocado to be made and I finished my coffee long before receiving my food. With the parking, walk, and wait my typical quick coffee run took me about an hour, but I guess that's just providence for ya. read more

This review is just for the coffees and not for any of the meal options, but we stopped here for a restorative brew after lunch on a chilly winter's day and it hit the spot for all of us. The coffees were uniformly top-notch, rich, full-flavored, and not harsh or bitter. After seeing loads of instagram worthy posts and friends raving about here, we had to try it. Based on all the great reviews I was a little disappointed with the inside, it wasn't anything special. I can see how this place would be a great place to get work done! I've heard good things about their goodies, but didn't try any when I went. I ordered a vanilla latte and was pleased with the outcome! My friend asked for rainbow latte art, and they cleverly crafted her latte with yellow and purple. I regretted not asking for an animal or color in my latte... Next time for sure! I am in town occasionally for work and the hotel is right down the street. I always like to stop in and get a coffee and a bite to eat. I like the atmosphere of the shop and the menu. Today I got a slice of avocado toast with my coffee. I got the stuff to go and when I got to the hotel I noticed the avocado had those brown fibrous stringy things going on. Depending what you read this is perfectly fine to eat and this is normal for some avocados apparently. Other things you read say it is a sign that the avocado has gone bad and is rotten. I don't really know but I make avocado toast at home and if the avocados are stringy it doesn't seem to taste as fresh to me which was the case here. I took one bite and tossed the toast. That being said I really like this place but I probably won't order avocado toast again. read more

Breakfast options early on Saturday morning in the downtown area are sparse and we came here because it was open and close to the hotel. Perhaps my expectations were too high going in because of the stellar reviews from other Yelpers. However, we didn't really enjoy our breakfast. The options were limited for me because a lot of the items had tomatoes - bummer. I opted for the spinach pie. This was really more like a hot pocket or one of Amy's Frozen meals. It was a thick outer crust with cold filling because it had been microwaved. My husband had the quiche. It was just OK but his cappuccino was too hot and not strong enough. This place is probably OK for a bagel or a quick croissant but not a sit down meal. Lots of good seating options. read more

A really cute cafe with lots of great drink and food options. Walking distance from Providence station, I just popped in for a cup of tea before catching my train. Such friendly and sweet staff. Due to COVID they have large signs that list out their food and drink menu. You are also able to see all of their baked goods through a glass window display. Their specialty coffees were fantastic, we tried the brown sugar rosemary latte and the honey lavender latte; both had subtle flavors and a smooth espresso flavor. The quiche that was on display was a perfect portion and the crust was flaky and crispy. Love this place! read more

Small Point Cafe doesn't get as much hype as some of the other coffee shops in the area, so I overlooked it for the longest time. Not any more! From the atmosphere to the service to the espresso, I can't say enough good things! The employees were all super friendly and prompt. My latte was perfect; the espresso was smooth and not bitter at all. And only $3.50 for a small! I didn't try any of the food, but the sandwiches and pastries looked really good and seemed to be made from fresh, local ingredients. You can get a breakfast sandwich on a Bagel Gourmet bagel or an English muffin. Next time I will definitely try a bacon, egg, and cheese! Food and espresso aside, I would come back just for the atmosphere. Sitting in the front room watching people go by on Westminster St., you can't help but feel happy and peaceful. I felt like I was relaxing in someone's living room! There's a good mix of tables, benches, and couches, so you can be comfortable whether you're trying to hunker down with some work or catch up with a friend. There's also free wifi. My drink was great. They have ample seating for hanging out alone, or with a small group. There is free WIFI and people work in there. The menu includes some delicious handmade sandwiches and bagels. There is a hummus sandwich called "The Vegan" They have an assortment of baked goods and some of them are vegan. There's a bulletin board for posting community events. The service was good. Some new people were training so it wasn't very efficient, but it's probably normally much better. I returned twice during my stay in Providence. read more

Great coffee and food! We stopped in for a quick bite late morning on a Sunday. The ice coffee was great. Not bitter at all and could easily drink it black. The BLTA (BLT with Avocado) was delicious. The ingredients were all fresh. The chocolate frosted donut may have been the biggest donut ever. Two in my party each enjoyed one and loved it. Small Point = SOLID. During my short visit to Providence I managed to find myself at Small Point twice. Visit #1: Attempted to eat at Sura (across the entrance) and waited 15 minutes while people ignored me. Short on time and in need of sustenance and caffeine, I skipped over to SP, ordered a hefty iced Americano and a turkey apple sandwich to go. In and out in under 10 minutes, sandwich made fresh. Americano pulled perfectly. Only small complaint is that the bread was almost so hard I could barely eat it, though it did not stop me in my ravenous state. It was a bit later in the day so this may have been the culprit. The rest of the sandwich was great, and served with fresh kettle chips. Nice! Visit #2: After a meeting, we popped in to kill a few minutes before my departure back to NYC. ANOTHER ICED AMERICANO!? You betcha, and again very on point. Not a small point, very BIG on point! Hooray. After doctoring up with simple syrup (the only way to sweeten iced drinks imo) and some organic cream, we sat at the window table and chatted in the very pleasant setting. The vibe is chill. People reading and working, nice people serving coffee, real espresso drinks, a nice cafe menu...very nice. Also noticed they do some coffee classes in the after work hours, would definitely be worth checking out to extend one's knowledge of coffee processes and art. I myself would love it! I don't care about anything else they sell, it's the best coffee I've had in town so far. If they were open as late as the coffee exchange and parking wasn't an Kafkaesque nightmare, I'd be here all the time. I've had a split soft pretzel with cream cheese and lox that I really enjoyed, but when they don't have that or some pastry or some sandwich or whether, I don't really explicitive care. It's mainly a coffee shop and they have limited prep space. The seating is great because you can choose to hide from the world in a rear table, or sit at a window and watch adorably stupid dogs and the meandering homeless bible lady. You can sit at a long table waiting for friends you don't have, or in a comfy oversized chair while you awkwardly try to avoid making eye contact with the people walking in who wanted your seat and now have a reason to scrutinize your clothes, shoes, hair, phone, choice of beverage, reading materials, and life. That is to say it's a great seat but it comes at a price. The inside looks nice--comfy and a little artsy (think kindergarten classroom meets struggling corporate artist in a brick wall comedy club) without being claustrophobic. Everyone that works there is genuinely nice. There is one sassy little fella with sweet hair who's apologetically sarcastic, but It's always good to have one around because you can both share a moment where each of you try to guess what horrifically depraved insults the other is mentally hurling at the uppity rich jerk in front of you who feels obligated to complain about nothing important. Also they sell beer so if you really wanted to, you could get 4-loco drunk and wake up at 4 in the morning at the bocce ball court, pants stuffed with chalk and pebbles. I wouldn't suggest it, I'm just saying you have options. I'd go there more often, but when I drink too much coffee I get this nervous tick where I'll suddenly wonder what I'm doing with my life and whether I should even get out of bed in the morning because I'm only going to die broken and alone. At least that caffeine monkey on my back comes with a VERY delicious cup of Small Point coffee. Also there are board games. read more

Like many downtown dwellers, I was dying for this place to open up. It looks great and has a cheery and airy atmosphere. I hope they smooth out their beginners' kinks because I want them to do well. First visit, opening week: Ordered regular hot drip coffee. It was excellent. BTW, instead of wood or plastic coffee stirrers, they have dry fettucini noodles. Cute! And eco friendly Second visit: Hot pour-over coffee. Awful. Like, undrinkable awful. Third visit: Latte. It was bad. Someone had to walk the barista through the process of making my latte. I get you have to train your new employees, but maybe do it with drinks that customers aren't paying for? Fourth visit: I learned my lesson. I was back to a hot drip coffee. This time I decided to order to the hot donuts that everyone was raving about. They touted the fact that they come out hot right out of the machine. Well when I placed my order, I was given donuts that had been sitting in the basket, so they had already been made and no longer hot. I often bring my laptop and work to Small Point because of the wifi, good coffee, and tasty sandwiches. It can get loud mid morning, but it has plenty of seating both inside and on Westminster. There are some places that spoil you for others. Well, Small Point Cafe is one of those. This is our third visit to this cafe. One was yesterday and one was almost two years back. I ordered a ginger turmeric latte the first time and have been searching the same taste for two straight years. Finally, back in Providence this weekend, I tried it again, and it was as awesome. The best part was when I hesitatingly requested low sugar, and they informed me they never put any! Hallelujah! It is so refreshing to actually drink coffee that doesn't have a bunch of sugar thrown in. I say coffee because we also ordered the Mexican mocha and pumpkin latte and they were not sweetened sick. We got a chia pudding and and it was so great and tasty!! Packed their sandwiches for lunch! Amazing people running the place. So attuned to their customers' needs! read more

Finally stepped into this awesome little cafe on my last day of classes in down-city. Go figure. Upon entering you're faced with a rustic exposed brick wall and a clean chalkboard menu above the counter. The service was very orderly, patient and genuinely nice. I felt right at home. They had pastries, sandwiches, wraps and coffees. All of the perfect lunching/studying foods and beverages available. They had two dining areas. One with minimalistic white booths along side a large funky chalk wall and another living-room styled area behind a room divider by the cafe window. I sat in the dining area by the window. It was perfectly intimate with dark neutral furnishings, bold colorful artwork, yellow lighting, healthy plant life and a spacious high ceiling. The noise level ranged from low-moderate; prefect for anyone who wants to grab a bite and get work done. Keep in mind, I stopped by around 1pm on a Thursday. I got the chicken salad which was not exceptionally flavorful. But was very healthy, clean, perfectly portioned and fresh. My brother grabbed the egg, cheese and sausage bagel sandwich and loved it. We got two meals and two lattes for ~$20. Pretty affordable and delicious if you ask me! If I'm ever in down-city, I will most definitely drop by here again! read more

While most of the menu is off limits to me for various allergy reasons, the internet kindly let me know and I will now share with you that this place has gluten-free bagels - Udi's. Unless your sensitivity is quite mild you will need to get them untoasted as they do not have a gluten-free toaster. They also have a totally decent selection of tea from Republic of Tea, pleasant seating options, and were playing a Sisters of Mercy album when I walked in so I'll be quite happy to return here in the future. read more

Right in the heart of Westminster street, you would think this place would be top of the line for a coffee shop with great presentation& excellent coffee/food when's it's quite the opposite. No parking at first that's a given though. Waited nearly 30 mins for a slice of avocado toast that didn't even have the toppings that I wanted on it, that were advertised on the menu. The pumpkin latte I got was gritty and you could taste the coffee grinds, also advertised on their website is cute coffee art on their lattes and they didn't have that either, so I feel like this place false advertises.
